RE: The Evader Coalition ~ T.E.C.
Thanks cheech, I'll get the new CVDs soon. I put the new YouTube vid up. [link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=icrdfGNehLo]Here it is.[/link] Nothings really different from the original, just better vid quality.

RE: The Evader Coalition ~ T.E.C.
I'm back! It's been awhile, but I have a question. I lost one of my universal dogbones while driving and I want to replace it with something better. [link=http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXDSY9&P=7]Will these work?[/link] It'll be going on my Evader ST. Are those CVDs good or does anyone have anything else in mind? P.S. New Evader ST YouTube vid coming soon!

RE: The Evader Coalition ~ T.E.C.
New Castle Link version 3.05 is available for download! I have no idea what difference it makes for the Mamba and there aren't any new options for configuring, but, it's an update so it must be better than 3.04.

RE: The Evader Coalition ~ T.E.C.
Start low, around an 18 tooth pinion with that high of a kV motor. Then, see if you like the feel of it and then gear up or down as you feel to be necessary.
I forgot to mention this but I wore the pad out on my slipper clutch making that youtube vid, lol. I was wondering if I could get this slipper clutch and these slipper pads or are those slipper pads only for this slipper plate?
Can someone please help me with that (see post #10292).
I am not a practiced solderer and would have to change over from the Tamiya connectors on the five batteries, two vehicles, and the charger. (and then I couldn't use my neighbors batteries unless I get him to switch) Do the Deans make that much of a difference? Joe
Yes Joe, the Deans make a huge difference and you can use them down the road if you go brushless. Tamiyas are rated for 15 amps while Deans Ultras are rated at 60-100 amps. I recommend you start practicing soldering because those Deans can be a pain to put on if you're inexpereinced. I practiced all last summer just soldering before I even went brushless by December.

RE: cheap lipo
I have a 7.4V 6000 mAh Max Amps pack for my Mamba set up. It flies down my street. [:D] I would guess that my top speed was 55 or 60 MPH in my Evader ST. Definitely spend the money on a Max Amps battery. If anything, do it for safety's sake. Also, if you have a balancer, use it every time you charge the pack. If you don't have one, GET ONE!

RE: Li-Po Charger/Batt Questions
Yes, you need a balancer! Always balance when you charge! I would suggest a 5000-6000 mAh 2S 7.4V LiPo from Max Amps (less mAh if you're on a buget). Good luck soldering the Deans.

RE: Water proofing LiPo batteries
I guess I'll just put them in some small, cheap plastic tupperware and silicon seal it with the wires out. These batteries aren't being used in the kind of RC boats the people on these threads are used to. It's a very large autonomous robot that uses GPS. It's a local school competition. Since we're switching from D size NiMH to LiPo, we'll have more room for water proofing.

Water proofing LiPo batteries
How do you prepare a LiPo battery for use in a boat? Is there anything special I should put the battery in or warp it in? If the boat crashes or sinks, is there anyway to keep a LiPo battery from shorting, exploding, catching fire or just plain dying?

RE: What's a good on-road chassis?
I don't know but I think they do. I've seen Hot Bodies parts there before. I don't think parts availability will be an issue. My plan is to put a 5000 kV Novak motor into the Cyclone with a 2S LiPo, so it'll go fast but not insanely fast.

RE: What's a good on-road chassis?
It's ok now if it's a ball diff. I've been doing some research. I like the lay-out of the Cyclone S chassis. I've actually been looking at that car even before I started this thread.

RE: What's a good on-road chassis?
I've found ball diffs to be tricky to adjust. What's the differences between the two anyways? Anymore car suggestions?

What's a good on-road chassis?
I've been looking at on-road cars and I was wondering, what's a good car and brand name? I don't want anything with electronics in it, I'd add my own later, what I'm looking for is a chassis that includes the following: bevel gear diffs, belt driven 4wd, oil filled shocks and it has to be under $200. What's a good brand car that fits these specs? It also has to be able to handle brushless power. I'll be running this car on (what else) on-road, on the street and in parking lots. Thanks.

RE: Where can I get an 11t pinion gear to fit on a 540 motor?
Ok, thanks for clearing that up. All I used to know was that my Evader uses a 48P pinion so that's all I've ever bought.

I hear all the time about 32P and 48P pinions being interchangeable. Is this true? Btw, what's mod 1? Never heard of it.

RE: Where can I get an 11t pinion gear to fit on a 540 motor?
Here ya go. [link=http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXEW96&P=7]Click here[/link] It's a 32 pitch but I don't think pitch matters. The smallest 48 pitch I could find is a 12 tooth. It's also on Tower Hobbies. All these gears should work on a 540 motor.

RE: Brushless Question.
Novak = more expensive. You only need to get a Novak ESC and motor if you need want a sensored motor or if you have to follow ROAR guidelines at your race track (i.e. the motor must be rebuildable, which means you can replace the rotor). Stay below 6000 kV to be safe. It all depends on what you're going to be doing. If you're racing at a dirt track, then get a lower kV. The 4600 would be a good choice if you're running in the dirt and still want to go fast. If you'll primarily going to be bashing and running up and down a street (or any other paved road) and you want to go really fast, then get a motor around or over 5000 kV. Only you can decide what's right for you, your venue conditions and your ability to control the car at higher speeds then you may be used to.

RE: Brushless Question.
I got a Feigao 7T 5820 kV for my off-road Evader ST. [8D] I'm running it with a 2S LiPo so my max motor RPM is 48,888 with a fully charged pack and 43,068 at nominal voltage. I would recommend a lower kV for that sort of thing though.

RE: mamba6900 in evader?
I have mine mounted in the spot where the original ESC went. I used double sided servo tape and two medium size zip ties to hold it in place.

RE: Brushless Question.
I've been told that the Mamba motors are more prone to over-heating than Feigao motors. I got my motor for $66 at www.rc-monster.com You can still go for the Mamba Max ESC and motor combo. There's nothing wrong with it.

RE: Brushless Question.
You don't have to replace anything on a brushless motor unless you break it. They're completely maintenance free. The only ways you can damage a brushless motor are by thermal damage, vibrating the rotor apart, water getting on or in the motor and other types of physical damage. I would suggest a Mamba Max speed control and a Feigao motor of your preferred kV rating. But that's just my suggestion. It's what I run and I've had no problems with it so far.

RE: What is the **most powerful** 1/36 truck setup that i can put together?
Yes, they do make them that small. Losi just came out with a line of brushless ESCs and motors for 1/10, 1/18 and 1/36 scale cars.

It may be that for some reason the battery can't supply enough current (amps) to power everything. What's the condition of your battery? What chemistry is it (NiMH or LiPo)?
