RE: Does the Velox fly?
I personally witnessed the maiden on a Velox at our local field last sunday. Flew GREAT!!! Power was an AMT 180, plane flew well, had great speed even at half throttle and landed fine without any issues.. If your velox does not fly, you need to look at your setup, probably C.G.

I have had 3 sticks in the past but all .40 size, so when i wanted a gas plane to just fly all the time, i chose the Big Stick, for some reason i just love the things. Russ

Bigstick, Fuji 32 or 32i
I am building a GP giant stick and would like to know if i should power with a 32 magneto or should i loose the nose weight and power with a 32i? I would like to match the engine the airframe to where i dont have to worry about being too nose heavy or have to cram lead up there to balance it.. Russ

RE: valve issues!
Well, the problem is solved, the thin oil helped but did not stop the leak. I took the retract apart removed the cylander and opened it up, oiled and cleaned the oring manualy, still , no joy [&o]. So i removed the o-ring and simply flipped it around 180.. This worked, the leak is totaly gone now. I dont know why flipping it would make a difference but it did.. If the leak ever comes back i will just go and get new orings at the hardware store..Now i can put the test flight on the plane..[:D] Thanks Russ

RE: valve issues!
I went ahead and put thin oil in all three gears, with the offending one liberally, i have worked it and will let it set up overnite to see if it stopped the leak.. If it does not, i guess you can put a new o-ring inside the cylander if i can find the right size. Russ

valve issues!
I am trying to install a gear valve on my latest jet, i have the standard blue robart valve, it leaks rapidly past the o-rings on the plunger until it bleeds to about 50 or 60 lbs and then looses air at a slower pace, all air will be lost within 15 minutes and the gear wont come down after about 5... So, i pulled a new RED vairiable robart valve from my gear kit for a P-51 i am building and installed it. SAME THING, leaks to about 50 lbs and then slows down, the air never quits leaking.. Russ

RE: Robart valve issues!
By gosh you were right, Apologies to Robart, i crimped off the down side of the nose gear and the leak almost stopped completley, crimped off the up side and it did stop. Now i guess i will try to fix the nose gear, You say thin oil first and then what?

RE: Robart valve issues!
The valves still leak even when i have no servo hooked up to them, i should have specified that in my original post, i have also tried BVM thin oil and even changed the o-rings in the blue one, i can HEAR the leak comming out at the valve plunger.. As for the bad gear cylander, That is a possibility but would it still do it in Both postions, up and down? if so we may be on to something? Also what would i do to fix the cylander? Russ

RE: Stuck in a tree
We got one out of a tree one time by tying a high test fishing line to a length of rope.. then we tied the fishing line to an Arrow and shot it over the plane with a compound bow. Hoisted up the rope untill it straddled the plane and then 1 guy on each end pulled the plane free, took a couple of trys but the plane did come down and it was WAY up there.. Russ

RE: X-Treme Jets A10X
I have over 60 flights on my A10-X. T-500 for power, flys nicley, pretty good speed. Landings are easy enough. Have not flown it off grass but it gets off in about 300 ft of asphalt with authority. You may need to beef up the landing gear area for grass, i did it in mine just in case i go to a grass field by using triangle stock to brace the joints between the ribs and the landing gear rails. RE: Kero vs Propane
One advantage of kero start might be in cold weather. I have to keep my powermax cans on the truck dash to warm the propane on cold days. I would GUESS as i dont have any experience with kero start that the engine would ignite on cold days just as easily as warm ones.. Russ

RE: How come that..........
You know that is a good question because when we were flying ducted fan there was never any more mention of a jet crash than anything else just another plane hitting the ground hard. Now that we have turbines that do have the risk of fire, even though the speed isnt any more than it used to be everyone points out when a jet has an issue so i would say maybe it is that but it doesnt even take a crash, it could be a runway incident and it still gets attention.. RE: Jetcat P70 Fuel Consumption
We timed our P-60 and got 8oz per minute average. This was normal flying, not full throttle all the time.. The P-70 is listed for the same fuel consumption and i belive it.. I guess the difference is the 70 is not turning so many rpms. Russ

The lowest i can ever remember them priced from FTE on his site was $2195, however i am sure they could be bought for a little less. Yes, i thought $2495 was a bit pricey for the engine, but the current price is a good deal..
