3 cell top fuel setup
A local club has started up rc drag racing in our area and I need some setup advice. I picked up a Dragrace Concepts top fuel roller (with the inline motor config, not the sidewinder). What is a good starting point for motor and esc? What about battery placement for proper weight distribution? I don't expect to rotate the earth backwards on the first pass, just looking for a good starting point. Thanks!

RE: 3s lipos and the SC10 4x4?
Look into the low center of gravity chassis. I haven't seen it first hand but I understand it makes enough room for 3S. My main concern would be killing the slipper and the clicker with all that extra power.

RE: Are you new to QUAD copters? And need advice stop in and ask me,
I have flown a 330X for a little while and would like to move up a little. I will be building my own frames for the next one, but need a control board. I would like something plug and play that will allow for auto stabilization in a hover, and altitude hold. I don't really need GPS or autopilot. What is out there?

RE: Baja 5b questions
ORIGINAL: Selfdestruct for clutch, it depends what you want. Either get the stock clutch or the one with the 8k spring. The vertigo clutch bell/pinion system is good, but the TR clutch system is better (but you're gonna pay for it). The stock drive shafts & cups should be fine. make sure they are not bent/twisted (the pins on both ends should line up to either end) If they are bent, i believe the new Sc shafts and cups work together but with older cups or shafts.
Thanks for the info. I will need the shafts and cups because they are missing. That's why I wondered what would be a good upgrade part to use.

Baja 5b questions
I inherited an older 5b and need some advice. I will need a motor, clutch, and a few drive line pieces to get it running. I am going to use a stock motor for now, but I know the older cars had some clutch issues. What is the most reliable clutch setup these days? Will the new style half shafts and drive ends from the truck work? If not, what are the best options? Thanks.

R/C Paraglider?
Is anyone making paraglider sails for the R/C skydiver bodies? I want to attempt a hybrid setup. Basically have a container big enough to pack a paraglider wing into that can be dropped and deployed like a regular parachute. With enough wing area I am hoping to be able to make a free fall drop, open the canopy, then hunt thermals and stay up like a glider. I saw this done in full scale last year (albeit a hop and pop from a balloon, no a full free fall) and it got my interest going. Eventually I might go the FPV route with it.

RE: Tom Cruise's 1943 p-51
ORIGINAL: coxco Tom got Chuck Yager to teach him how to fly the P-51 or so he said in an interview (Letterman).
Total BS. All of his Mustang instruction was done by Matt Jackson and Dan Martin. Both say Tom is a very competent pilot. Tom flew down to a small airshow in Bakersfield a few years back along with Matt Jackson in one of the Sander's Sea Furies and Terry Tarditi in "Comfortably Numb". One evening after the show they went up for some acro and formation work. I was lucky enough to ride with Terry on that flight. Hands down the most fun I ever had.

RE: China's J-20 Better Than F-22? Well I do not think so
The problem is we have 170 something F-22s, and will never have any more. China can build a few thousand of theirs secretly, and win by sheer numbers. A war with China is a war we loose.

RE: So, I bought one of those fire proof LiPo bags...
One thing I have seen done is to charge them inside a metal box, or a clay pot with a plastic bag filled with sand over the top. If there is a fire, it would melt the bag and cover the battery with sand which might smother the fire, or at very least help contain it.

RE: DLE Long term reliability ?
The 111's had some issues, but the 50/55 and 100 are GREAT motors. When (if) you do wear one out, replacement parts are cheap. I could afford to buy a DA, but I prefer the DLE. Of course I do all my own rebuild work, so I don't need DA's service that everyone raves about. My only problem with DL is that they do not make an 85cc motor.

What is the point of having the twin vertical tail setup? It is just to get more surface area without making it really deep / tall?

It has me worried that the next round will be flown over land instead of water. That is the only thing that saved Hall and the rookie. Mike Mangold told me that at the speed he was going, if Matt's prop had hit the water he would probably be dead.
