RE: When a receiver battery goes low...
You get RX "browout" where the RX goes off and reboots so you get control on and off. What difference does it make if the servos run slow etc.? When your battery goes low or is too small to handle the servo loads you rish loosing control. A 600ma battery is way to small for a 40-60 size plane especially running for an hour. Do you check your battery voltage between each flight? Best to use a 6volt, 5 cell battery at 1200ma or more with 2.4 to play it safe. Batteries are cheaper than planes...:) Have fun! Jim D

RE: wiring spc and ubec?
Well it is a little hard to see the details of what you have there but I have done this and this is what you need. On the the back of the main male connector on the ESC input or on the wires leading from that connector you connect the following: Two light wires that run to the RX SPC connector. Hitec gives you this lead with your RX. This powers the RX Two light to medium wires run to the CCBEC (ubec)input. This powers the rest of your radio system servos etc via the CCBEC. The size of these wires depend on the amount of current you will need to supply to the CCBEC. The output of the CCBEC goes to the RX normal power/battery connection. All these wires are in additon to the two main wires that are feeding the ESC. One connector with all these wires plugs into the battery. You might consider not using the SPC input as long as your CCBEC can provide enough power for you entire system. You will see posts here by Hitec...Mike Mayberry where he does not use the SPC connector. Have fun, Jim D.

Poor batteries are the blame many times. And too many servos for a BEC etc.

RE: Is there a radio that does not lose signal?
Hey, I have been flying Hitec Aurora 9 for 2.5 years with never glitch! Electrics to .70 size 4-stroke glow. Before that Hitec Eclipse 7 on 72MHZ for 10 years with no radio problems. I believe most lost of control things are poor aircraft prep, batteries too small and or old/improperly charged batteries. Also, many people don't seem to realize there is a limit to how many servos a basic ESC/BEC circuit can handle. Also I recommend 6volt batteries for all glow model RX systems. For electrics with more than 4 servos, use a seperate CCBEC set for 6vdc to power your RX and servos. Also the A9 will beep and let you know if your battery is dropping low during hard high current draw manuvers. Good luck! Jim D.

RE: 1961 Ecktronics-Kraft Radio
Take a look on Ebay. Also you could always put it on Ebay with a reserve price that is high ($500?) and see where the auction goes. You could then sell it or take it off auction near the end if you get high bids but don't want to sell it. Good luck.

RE: New Hitec Aurora 9-Channel 2.4Ghz Radio System
Speaking in general terms and not relative to your specific design which I know nothing about I would handle it like any glow plane which I was going to prep to fly. I check the plane voltage and all controls from the TX, then I start the plane and recheck the controls while it is on the safety bench. Then I pick it up and fly it. I would not start the engine or put the plane on the launcher until: I would fire up the tx and rx and then put the launcher in the loaded position with no plane on it. I would then release the launcher with the TX. If every thing looked ok then I would leave the TX and RX on, reset the launcher to the armed postion. Start the plane, set it on the launcher and confirm that the launcher was holding it before I let go of it. Then I check my plane controls again, check the flying area for clear space,, yell "taking off" and release the launcher using the TX switch. Good luck Jim D

RE: New Hitec Aurora 9-Channel 2.4Ghz Radio System
What am I missing? You have a safety system or safety system start up approach where you start the plane in the "launcher" and things are live and then you turn on the radio control system to operate it? And you find out the system is not working correctly or is unsafe by watching the plane leave the the launcher to your great suprise? Sounds backwards to me! Jim D

RE: New Hitec Aurora 9-Channel 2.4Ghz Radio System
Do you have a failsafe set so that the switch goes to release with TX off and RX on? Do you always turn the TX on first? If it is changed, reprogram it the the way you want it and see if it works correctly. There have not been any recent changes that I know of. Jim D

I have been flying my A9 for over two years with mostly electrics with BEC or CCBEC power and also use SPC port on some. I have never seen anything but very minor surface movement when connecting the battery. Same with glow models when I turn on the RX power. All use analog servos. Jim D.

You are getting the low voltage alarm probably. Check servo/surfaces for binding and if things are good then your battery is weak, low charge or too small for you system. Jim D

RE: gps & voice module
The voice module volume can be adjusted using that little wheel on top. Rotate it back and forth to change level. You can get the manuals for all the TM stuff and the voice on the Hitec web site Some where in the Hitec info I saw somthing that said update rate for voice module is .5 sec. Not sure if same rate applies the Aurora 9 displays. I have been flying the Blue TM module with the various sensors for about two months on two different airplanes. Things seem to work pretty well but I have have some issues with the GPS. I have not been able to get clear answers from Hitec so far. I think it is fairly accurate but with the slow update rate it will always be late or different altitude from you plane if you are manuvering. Here are some loose ends and maybe you can see if your system works the same as mine: The voice module and the A9 diplays seem to show/say different things. Sitting on the ground my voice module will say "postion altitude 1650 feet" and the TX will say 0. When I fly and get to an estimated 40-50 feet or above the voice will say a reasonable number but as "Altitude". Speed works ok in voice too with the caveat that there is system lag errors if manuvering. At altitudes below 40-50 feet or so the numbers get erratic and it might say 9 feet or "position altitude 1650" The A9 altitude display in the EZ View page or Cockpit view page always reads zero when I fly. But if I am on the ground on the bench it will sometime read 3 feet and if I pick the plane up over my head it will read 9 feet or so. the max altitude on the A9 page will show a reasonable altitude max when I fly. Same with speed but speed display will always be zero in flight but I if walk with the plane it will show 3 mph and vary with walking speed. I am not sure about how "absolute" and "relative" work in the A9 displays or the voice. I had assumed absolute was relative to sea level. Since my field is at 61 feet I had expected it to say some number like that but usually it says 1650 on the ground and the A9 says 0 in both modes. I have found the current, voltage and rpm sensors to be very good when compared to other measurements in ground test and they seem fine in flight.Let me know if you get similar results. Good luck! RE: 2.4 Module Beeping Twice
Welcome to the world of Big Brother! Your Eclipse 7 was keeping you out of trouble probably. The 2.4 module has a RX battery alarm. It can be set with the HP-22 programer which you should have to keep your module and RXs up to date. So your Rx sends the battery voltage down to the TX module. When you move the sticks your servos are probably loading down your system and dropping the voltage below the alarm..maybe to 4.5 or 4.8 volts. In the old 72 mhz you would never know this happened. I had this when I first started flying 2.4 Hitec two years ago. Check for binding in your sytem and if everthing is good I suggest you change to a 6v RX battery if your servos can take 6 volts. Most Hitec units can. I have changed out all my RX batteris to 6 volts. Also the 2.4 RXs draw more current and a 6 volt battery of proper current rating is a good insurance against "brown outs" where your RX goes to sleep and your model goes to Balsa Heaven. If you have the HP-22 unit you can connect your module to it and see what voltage level the alarm is set for. Save your pennies and buy a Hitec Aurora 9 TX and you will be able to see these battery transients and info on your display. And your Eclipse 7 with the 2.4 module will bring a good price on E-Bay. Good luck!

RE: Minima 6E range
I have only flown the full size Optima RXs including the 6,7 and 9 channel but Hitec lists the Minima as a full range Rx so I would not hesitate to use it to full range in one of my planes. I can tell you I flew one of my planes at full range for who knows how many flights with one of the early Optima 6 Rx before I noticed the little antenna wire at the end of the BODA was missing. I only found that because every so often the plane would not taxi back if I ran it off the end of the runway even though it always passed the range test when sitting on the field bench. At my field the runway is paved and then the ground beyond the ends gradualy drops down so if you run off the end , the plane is below line of site. JIm D.

RE: HS-5085MG: What is a proper power supply?
The symptoms say your battery voltage is dropping below the lower limit of your monitor. 4.8 volts is the nominal pack voltage and you are setting it as the warning? I would make sure there are not binding surfaces or linkages. Then I would change to a 6 volt battery. You don't mention what radio RX and TX you are using. I have had similar problems to what you report and have changed all my glow models to 6 volt. I use Ni-cad batteries for my RX packs. I am not a battery expert but have read that Ni-mh batteries have good capacity but limited current surge. The Hitec Aurora 9 and Optima Rx systems have been great in that with the battery voltage downlinked to the TX from plane I have been alerted to these transient battery things. I have a Kyosho P-17 ARF with an OS-70 4 stroke and five standard servos which I flew for serveral years on Hitec 72mhz with a 4.8 volt Ni-cad 1200mah. In 2010 after changing to Hitec2.4GHZ with the battery TM, I saw that when ever I would do a hard manuver (fast roll or snap roll) I would get the battery alarm at the TX which I had set for 4.6 volts. I found with my glow models that rowing the sticks on the ground would drop the battery voltage to 4.5 volts time after time. Running them with a 6 volt ni-cad at 1200mah has eliminated these problems. Have fun
