Battrick combat plane
A couple of years back, a guy by the name of Mike Fredricks in Wisconsin produced a kit called the "Battrick". I have had zero luck in finding an extra one somebody has laying around, and yes, I have called Mike and he is not making them anymore. Any help given will be appreciated. Joe

RE: How does your wife deal with your RC airplane hobby?
The only thing my wife asks is "how much is it?". Being as our life is limited to medical bills coming in all the time, if she can figure out a way to pay for it her only response is "go ahead and get it you want".

RE: OMP Yak 54 V profile
Ya I was kind of leaning towards the SX, pretty snappy little engine. I can't believe it, my Yak came today. That is with out a doubt the fastest shipping I have ever seen, THANKS OMP! I checked the contents out briefly and all I can say is WOW. This baby is going to make a great stable mate to my Edge 540 when I build it (540) this winter (or before). After this experiance, I can tell you I'm going to be an OMP customer for a long time to come.

OMP Yak 54 V profile
Looking at the engine specs a person can use, I have the same ol' question, out of my stable, what would give me the best performance? Mag 91 FS...OS 91 FS....OS 70 FS (cheap one) and a OS 50 SX. Thanks for any help given. This is my first OMP profile and I'm waiting everyday for the brown truck to arrive. If anyone has a Yak V3 out there with any of ther above engines, please give me your opinion on it's performance. Joe

Lancair - 52
Very nice plane to put together less a few problems. #1, cowl was starting to "spider web" in the finish, plus some chipping around the rear edge. Needs to be replaced. #2 no hold down bolt holes in rear of wing, solution was: fixed in shop. #3 no hardware package at all. Lucky I carry a substanial supply of my own. My main concern is getting the cowl replaced. Thanks

RE: 47 edge 540 balancing
Mount the engine as far forward as possible What type of servo are you using for your throttle? If your using a mini or smaller type, consider going to a "full size" If all else fails, either go to a heavier four stroke or consider the stick on type of weights up front I too am buidling the Edge so keep me informed of your progress & problems you may have encountered Joe PS Mine will have a YS 61 with a moose can pipe and all JR equipment

Nitro Planes Lancair-balance
I have the NP Lancair ( not the II version) and cannot get the plane to balance without putting a bunch, and I do mean bunch of weight up front to get it to balance. The CG is listed at 2 5/8" from the leading edge next to the fuse. Has anybody out there had this same problem? Also, I'm running a OS 50SX and a tuned pipe and the engine is set about as far foward on the mount as I can go. Any help is appreciated. joe

RE: Who else was ripped off by Barry Cohen, RCOnly Website.Com?
I bought a CMP Pro Extra (50cc size) from him about a year ago here on RCU. When I received the plane it looked ok at first but upon furthur inspection, found that the fuse was badly damaged, cracked and chipped from the landing gear platform forward. I contacted him and he said he checked the rest of the planes in his inventory and they were all damaged but he had a new shipment coming in the following Tuesday. He indicated he would send a replacement shortly after. Well thats the end of the story, no returned emails or phone calls from that point on. I spent almost three hundred dollars on that plane plus an additional amount to re-fiberglass the front bottom. Am I ticked off? You bet and would love to talk to him face to face.[>:] Joe

RE: Northstar mods - Tell me what you think
Well, you guys have went and done it! After following this thread and wanting to build a northstar for a number of years, you guessed it....I've got one coming. The ideas on this thread are just over the top, gives a person alot of food for thought. Premech, where did you get the idea for the winglets and what is your theory behind 30 degrees and flight performance. Thanks joe [:D] The kit arrived yesterday! Printed out all six pages of this forum so I can reference them during the build.

RE: Engine choice for a Mojo 60
Lots and lots of choices! As far as the ST 90 goes and the finicky carb I have replaced that with a carb from OS engine. Slipped right in and fit like a glove. Should take care of the problem. I would still like a Saito 100 but I'll see how the finances go. Joe[:D]

Just picked one up at a swap meet yesterday NIB. I will be using glow engines and kind of settled on two OS 70 four strokes. I'm not opposed to using a 2 stroke but not sure as to what size. Would appreciate any ideas. Joe

RE: giant scale pylon racing
When I hear about GSRA, I remember the time I went and saw them at the EAA grounds in Oshkosh. Too somebody who's limits in the hobby are scale and sport flying with a dash of pylon dreams (I wish I could....I wish I could...you know?) well it was like a kid in Toy Land at Toys R Us (? SPL) on the first day of the Christmas season. MY eyes and mind were on RC overload, Forumula there, AT 6 here, Unlimited there, holy don't lose my nitro staurated brain now!! I think they were there two years and then disappeared from the radar scope. I asked and asked people who I knew that had some knowledge about it what had happened, and nobody knew. I later found out that there had been some sort of "disagreement" between the two bodies. I for one have one response, " GIVE ME A BREAK!" You have the number 1 organization in sport aviation the in the EAA who proclaims to support ALL (did you read that A>>L>>L) disciplines of aviation and then the most exciting form of RC air racing on the planet in GSRA. My question would be why can't they come together. If you need somebody to try and go down to the EAA and bend Paul P.'s ear, I'll do it or I'll camp out on his doorstep until he talks to me. WE need the GSRA back in the upper midwest and I'm a firm believer the GSRA needs the expand it's schedule. Thank you, I just had to rant. Joe

RE: Jamara 330L
Speaking of mounting the engine, I am using a Brilleli 46GT with the Brillelli T style mount. I noticed that when I put the cowl on and checked the spinner back plate to cowl distance, I noticed about 5/32" up thrust. I checked the mount-box-firewall and nothing appears to be outwardly out of wack. I know I'll have to do some shimming to get it right but did anyone else notice or is mine just the odd duck of the bunch. Thanks Joe

RE: Modeltech Sukhoi
On mine the area which needs a little attention is by the landing gear mount, it is weak. Do a search as there a post on this minor mod and it does pay off as I didn't do it (first time) and after the repair, made the mod and had no problems. Also I had to program in some expo after which it flew perfect.
