RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...
I wanted to follow up with a post I made earlier about the pinion coming loose on my XS. Turns out, it was not the pinion (which had so much loctite from the factory, that I twisted my allen keys trying to remove), but the problem was the threads on the drive cup stripped which would not allow the slipper to tighten. There were metal shavings around the slipper pads and after a close inspection, I determined it to be the threads on the drive cup. There was also a lot of loctite used from the factory on the 10mm nut and drive cup. I called HPI and they are sending a replacement. I'm not sure I'm liking the slipper setup on the XS, but I'll have to wait and see how it goes once I replace the drive cup. As others have pointed out, access to the pinion is not a quick task and can take 30-60 min. to replace and put back together.
ORIGINAL: JUSTPASSEDU I knew that would happen , I may just install a bigger pinion right from the start. How's the acell & top end?
It pulls pretty hard and get's to top end pretty quickly. It could definitely use a sway kit. For bashing, the power is perfect all around on 2s. For speed runs I can see where I'd want to try out a 3s.

After about 5 minutes tonight running the XS pretty hard, the pinion came loose! Time to tear it down and add some loctite.

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...
I ran it approx 30 mins each pack and there was plenty Mah left, I just don't run my lipo's down too much. The motor was very hot last night, but air temps were 95+ so I didn't run it too hard.
ORIGINAL: TheKennyKiller I have two questions. Did you use loctite on the pinion ? Does it mention in the manual that loctite is needed on the pinion before running ? if you answer yes to either of them I will stfu
I did not use loctite prior to running and it shows in the manual to use loctite for reassembly, but not required before the first run. I just assume wait until if/when it loosens up rather than taking apart first. Plus, I did not have the patience! [:)]

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...
So far I've ran two packs on my XS and so far I've had no issues. The truck does look like it will be a little difficult to work on-but do not really know for sure until I take it apart. The truck is very fast on 2s and definitely has the feel of it's big brother. It would have been nice if HPI included a wheelie bar as it certainly needs one. The battery compartment is actually quite large and I needed to use the included foam strip to keep the 2s 6000 mah pack secure and without, the pack moves too freely inside. HPI has a winner on their hands, imo!

RE: Frustrated new LST owner
Does anyone have the Sportwerks w/ the pullstart? I have heard mixed reviews on the pullstarts being unreliable. Perhaps I ought to just stick with the stock setup for now--I'm just wanting one less battery to charge. Thanks again for everyones help and support!

RE: Frustrated new LST owner
Just a follow up--I FINALLY got my motor back after two weeks and the motor now runs great! I did check to see if they installed a new washer, which they did not. All I can say is the wait was worth it! Had a big crowd gather to see what all the noise was about while running this weekend--got to love nitro!! [:D]

RE: Frustrated new LST owner
Those mini-t's are pretty sweet! I tried as best as I could to have them send me another *new* motor and definately let them know this was a brand spankin new motor, never run--but they said they could not send a new one. I would assume they would not send it back with that washer, but I'll double check to be sure! Thanks for the replies--I'll have a look at the Sportwerks .26 and just keep the Mach as a backup I guess.

Frustrated new LST owner
Hi all, I'm pretty new to the forums and nitro monsters but not new to the RC world. I bought an LST two weeks ago and I'm sad to say I have not been able to drive the truck yet! :( I ate one of the washers immediately upon firing up the motor for the first time. I sent the motor to Horizon last week and wondering today when my motor would be ready, they said they were waiting for more pistons and sleeves and could not give me an eta. I asked if they could send me a new one and responded that all motors sent in for repair have to wait 30 days before a new one can be sent. My model is #002009 for those curious. I am so tempted to run out to my LHS and grab a new motor, but I can't seem to justify it after spending $600. on this thing. I can wait a little longer I suppose. Seems like a nice group here and I hope to contribute to the community any way I can. :)
