RE: GROUP BUILD - Top Flite Giant Scale F4U Corsair
Scott, Thank you for the site and I will go there and see what I can read and learn. I do know that some of the members on this site have put the folding wings on their birds. I will have to go back and read all of this site again, because I do know that it can and has been done on this bird. Thanks again,

RE: GROUP BUILD - Top Flite Giant Scale F4U Corsair
Randy, I am like you, I would also like to see some pictures of other birds as they are being built. I will be sure to post pictures when I get to start my bird, but that will not be until later this year. I have bought almost everything that I need for this bird, except for a few servo's and the wheels. I did also buy one of Sam's tailwheels & tailhook. Thanks Sam!!! Can someone tell me where to find more information about the folding wings? Okay guys, thank you for all of your help that you have given to me and your advise. This site is great for all of the information and help that everyone is willing to share. Okay, I have to go back to working on the addition that I am adding to my house, but I will continue to read and lurk in the back ground.

JazzRC, What can I say, the DVD that you sent to me, it is a work of art and it makes it so easy to find all of the things that I need to look at, at that moment. Thank you for all of the hard work and effort that you put into the DVD. Just to let you know, there is something on the way to you. Thanks again,

RE: GROUP BUILD - Top Flite Giant Scale F4U Corsair
mrrandyman, rt3232, cimara & DaddySam, Thank you all for the help and the advice. I did speak with Top-Flite today and they are going to send me several parts that were cut incorrect. Top-Filte told me that they would be shipped today and they would arrive in a few day. I have the time to wait as I am only checking parts and doing a mock-up of all of the parts. On the other hand, I do have good news, I have ordered the Cowl and the oil cooler from www.fiberglassspecialtiesinc.com and they shipped the parts today. I also received a email from Iron Bay Models and they have made my sliding canopy (extra thick) and it will ship tomorrow. So I am going back to reading and then tomorrow I will make the firewall and the crutch top. Thanks for everyone help and advise,

RE: GROUP BUILD - Top Flite Giant Scale F4U Corsair
Bob, Thanks for your information, I do remember someone else had this same problem, but after reading 260 page, I did not remember who had the same problem and what the cure was. I will go and read page 23, 7-10, right now. I remember that many people increase their firewall thickness, can someone tell me what size firewall would be best, I will be using a G62 like most people. Thanks in advance,

RE: GROUP BUILD - Top Flite Giant Scale F4U Corsair
Heritageman, Thank you for the reply and I wish it was as easy as you say. But the "crutch top" fits the plans in 3 of the 4 corners and if you turn it over, then two of the corners would be incorrect as one would be two big and the other would be too small. This is not a square piece and it was not cut square for a reason, it gives you the 3 degrees of angle. In the picture, the top left is suppose to be smaller than the bottom left. But the top left in the picture, is smaller than the plans are. I hope I did not confuse anyone, other than myself. Thanks,

RE: GROUP BUILD - Top Flite Giant Scale F4U Corsair
Hello everyone, Okay I have been very busy reading and i am now up to page 260. But I could not wait any more and I got into my kit and started looking at things. Please see the attached picture and tell me your thoughts. I have the "crutch top" laying on the plans, but it does not fit correctly, it is about 1/8" SHORT (top left of photo). Now this will affect the angle of the engine and it will make the incidence wrong. The plans call for 3 degrees but this will increase the incidence, a lot. How would you handle this problem? Would you just make another "crutch top" or would you have Top-Flite send you another one that is correct? Thanks in advance,

RE: GROUP BUILD - Top Flite Giant Scale F4U Corsair
Bob, Thank you for the information. In the pages that I have read, I have found several sites that you and others have talked about. I now have those sites marked to read, next. But I will always be glad to listen and to take advise from people like you and the others. I have read many of your posts as I am now ready to start reading on page 151. Later I will start asking question because I really want to put several mods on this plane and I do not know how to do it (like folding wings) By the way Bob, OK[:D] Back to reading, now that my eyes are crossed,

RE: GROUP BUILD - Top Flite Giant Scale F4U Corsair
Randy and all of the group, I have so far decided to put the sliding canopy (already ordered from Iron Bay Models), all nav lights (Wing Span), a G62, retracts (Robart). There are many more decisions to make but will all that everyone has written, it will make my planning stage a lot easier. Now to read more, so I can stop reading and start building. Thanks in advance,

RE: GROUP BUILD - Top Flite Giant Scale F4U Corsair
Kelly and Devens, Thanks for the information. The DS821 does have 72 ounces and it is also the servos that came with my DX7 radio that I have, I also have a DX8. I have use those servos but I do like them. I will use your advise and use 9 DS821's and 1 HS-5645MG. Kelly, that is a very nice picture, I hope that one day that my Corsair will look 1/2 as good as your as then I would be happy. I know that a lot of people go with the G62 engine. Has anyone use a DA-60 or a DA-85? Thanks again,

RE: GROUP BUILD - Top Flite Giant Scale F4U Corsair
Kelly, Thank you for your help and information. I also have a P-51D Mustang to build and I just read its book and it says the same thing as the Corsair book says. But then it does state that it need to be 45 ounces or more. I do have have 10 DS821's that I can put into the Corsair. I also have several HS-5645MG's and I could buy more of them, if this would be a better servo for the Corsair. They have a output of 143 ounces at 4.8 volts. Do you think I should use the HS-5645MG's? Thank you for your help,

RE: GROUP BUILD - Top Flite Giant Scale F4U Corsair
Hello everyone, I have bought a GS TF Corsair a few months ago and i have learned of this site from one of your members. I have started reading the site and I am now on page 47. I see that many people are using a G62 engine and i am learning very much from all of you and thank you. But i do have one question for you now, that I have not found the answer for yet. In the manuel it says that at least 10 standard size servos are required, okay, i understand that. Then it says that they need to be "High Torque Servos". But no where have I found what inch/ounces are required for the servos. Can some one tell me what the 7 "high torque servos", the inch/ounces, should be for those? I will now go back to reading and learning from all of you. I am sure that i will have some more question in time, I am trying to make a list of all of the parts that I need and want and to plan ahead, this way I can buy them when I am at Joe Nall, next month. Thank you for all of your help in advance,

RE: WACO YMF
Hello everyone, I would like to ask everyones advise, I have bought a Pica Waco YMF 3/5 1/5 scale. I have did a little reading with the papers that came with the kit and it says a .91 (2 stroke glow) or a 1.20 (4 stroke glow), is the correct engine for this kit. What would you advise me to put into this kit, for the engine and the servo's? I would like to have your advise now, so I can make up my mind and then maybe i can find the correct engine at Joe Nall. Thank you in advance,
