RE: The Evader Coalition ~ T.E.C. Part 2.
ORIGINAL: EXT2Rob check and tighten all screws.....open tranny (and diff) and add grease, they never put in enough....dump the shock fluid and put in 35wt.....get new tires and wheels if you're going off road....oh, and make DANG sure the bottom cap on the plastic shocks (where the shaft comes out) is tight, use blue loctite if you have to. If that sucker comes loose, it'll break the threads off and then you need new shocks. NTR - Way back up there somewhere, you asked how my tranny was holding up....it's doing great! It's sort of a bastard child, not stock, but not full BL either. I converted the slipper to an Associated-type, but I'm using the stock EXT2 top shaft/gear. And I installed the BL metal diff. My other Evader tranny is still bone stock, tho I'm waiting on a metal diff for it. Ordered it in FEBRUARY and STILL WAITING!!!
Exactly what happened to me.
ORIGINAL: BurningEvader1458 Thanks. I get done at like 2:30 so it's a nice Short school day. (though I'd rather be out running my evader) [:D] same to you!
I get out at 2:30 as well, but I have an hour of optional research time in the computer lab. I doubt there will be any Evader running this year because I have half of last year and all of Grade 12 to complete. Add to that being elected president of Student Council. I'm going to be busy!

OK now I have my wood and my pontoon material! Let's see if anything gets done during school. I am dubious, but I think it can be done. Maybe tomorrow I'll cut the pontoons and deck. I'll keep you guys posted as I progress, I didn't get this far only to not build it.

Just got back from bashi9ng at the local badlands[8D] Truck didn't like it that much, neither did the already broken and I'm waiting on it from my LHS. Anyways, if anyone wants an Evader DT, PM me.
ORIGINAL: cumquat slightly loose is ok because the channels in the wheel are closed at the ends. i used brass wire (.032 or something like that) folded over on my ext and they worked pretty well.
I had that problem as well. What I did was find a nice rod a bit too thick and drilled out the axle to fit. So far so good.

RE: The Evader Coalition ~ T.E.C. Part 2.
YES cumquat! I am running mine 35/81 at the moment and I had to turn on punch/traction control because it sounded like my pinion was slipping when I punched it. I found with traction control on, it would get moving for about 10 feet then throw in everything it had. Too bad my motor guard was broken. Thanks also for the advice about 2s/3s packs. I think I'll go 2s because I can fit a higher capacity pack for longer runtime.[:D] Next up is a motor blower, it gets pretty hot after a run, which drains a 3000 MAh NiMh pack in 3 mins.[:o]

I installed a Traxxas waterproof High torque digital servo and it is great? Part # is 2056, I think. Also, the DX2e I got is great! Not as feature packed as the DX3c, but it is less than half the price.

Just converted my DT to 2.4GHz Yesterday. Boy, what a difference! it does not hesitate to move from 40 ft away, it just gets out there and rips. As for parts, my LHS internet was down yesterday, but they said they'd order my parts no problem. cumquat, do you have front shocks?

RE: The Evader Coalition ~ T.E.C. Part 2.
ORIGINAL: EXT2Rob That;s the good thing about the Evader, probably its main selling point: cheap entry price, and the stress-tech guarantee. But, Do what my bud did, save up all the stress-tech parts you break, and send them in just before your year runs out. Buy your own replacements. They take FOR EVER to replace the warranty parts. (low priority) That way, you'll have spares, and your car won't be down for months. RC has come a long way. Brushless motor systems and high-tech batteries give these little models amazing power and speed. And with very little maintenence when compared to Dad's old nitro cars. Unless one feels the need for engine noise, the smell of nitro fuel, and the angst that comes from trying to keep them running right, who needs nitro? (Well, ok, probably the guys running 1/5-scale SC 4x4s) Brushless can give you all the power you need and more. Maybe one day I'll get a Losi, or Associated, or an Ofna, and I'll be singing their praises and dissing ol' DTX, but the Evader got ME hooked, AND my buddy, and the hobby NEEDS cars like that, one that's inexpensive enough to hook a newb but tough enough to learn and grow with and make that newb a dedicated RC fan. Am I right? or am I right?
www.hpiracing.com/kitinfo/106258/ castlecreations.com/products/mamba_xl2.html To name a few. People convert their Baja 5B and 5SC to Mamba XL because it is more powerful, cheaper, and quiter to operate. I will remain electric.

PM me for more info on the TX, if you are interested. I may not end up selling for a few months b/c I cannot afford a new Tx yet, as well as I pinpointed the range problem - dead tx batteries.. Where would I get a 75 or 72T spur? Do the Robinson Racing Kevlar spurs fit the Evader?

So far my only Evader is the DT, and I am having a blast with it. I just changed the gearing to 35/81 and I can't get the pinion to stay on. No more skatepark for me the way this thing lands after jumping 8 feet vertical!

I fell in love with this plane as soon as I saw it at my LHS. Problem is: I'm a teenager with no job and no money. Maybe I'll find one used next year, or get it for Christmas, though it's a toss up between the MiG and the Carbon Cub.

RE: The Evader Coalition ~ T.E.C. Part 2.
ORIGINAL: BurningEvader1458 Thanks for sharing. I started by getting a big cheap rc camaro from radio shack from my grandpa for christmas when I was 5 yrs old. I ran that up until 2008 when my friend stepped on it and broke the wheel. I was able to get a new one but it was $$. Then the same year, the gearbox split and gears fell all over. I couldn't figure out how to put it back together, so I figured I got enough use out of it and I just junked it. But back in 2007 I got a Tamiya copy 4x4 for my birthday. That was pretty nice. I loved that truck. It ran fast and powerful. Did 35mph. But then some parts broke and I sorta lost interest in it. But in 2009, my Dad bought an Evader St off of craigslist. It was in sad condition. (Servo ruined, worn tires, bad battery, no body, needed adjustments, etc.) So dad and I bought a couple metal servos and some new tires and rims. Got a body off ebay, and adjusted it like the instruction manuel said to. I went threw 6 brushed motors with that thing. Then I once again lost interest. So here in January of 2012, I decide to make this my official hobby. So I upgraded my Evader with metal gears, big pinions, 3S brushless motor and esc, bumpers and wheelie bar, and change the whole drive terrain. Now it's ready but I just have to get a 3S lipo battery and charger. I'm only 12, and if your wondering how I afford this, I have a job doing yard work for my neighbor. Made almost a grand at this job. But my mom is against it and wants me to get another hobby because she thinks it's too expensive. Well, I don't know. I plan to stay with it.
WOW!! That's my life story! I'm 16 and I started at 5 with a Radio Shack Z8 from my Grandmother and my mom says exactly the same thing! I also used to do yard work until we moved.

RE: Micro Beech Baron project
Thanks Waffleman. I got my AR6400 back from my buddy and I was thinking of using that in external ESC mode. That way I don't have to worry about the battery(?) or overloading one ESC. The tail is almost complete as are the nacelles. Next up is ordering the ESCs and the motors, etc. from HK and buying other stuff from my LHS. It's coming along nicely.
