RE: 1992 Modeltech Saphir II-4T designed by Wolfgang Matt
Ok, so after the 6 minute flight with a lot of vertical and various passes and general flying the capacity used was 2440mah out of my 4000mah packs! I am thinking this setup will be awesome!! The true test is when I actually fly through the sequence I used in Arvin. If I have enough battery with the type of power I had earlier today, I will be more than pleased!!!

RE: 1992 Modeltech Saphir II-4T designed by Wolfgang Matt
Well I have it finished, put in a new power plant and ended up running an 8s setup. I am waiting for the batteries to recharge now to see how many mah were used. Flew for 6 minutes and had pretty much unlimited vertical!! Much more work than I had originally intended went into this plane, but man is it looking like it will be a VERY nice electric classic!!

RE: 2013 Classic Pattern get-Together, May 25th Riverside, Ca.
Well I am planning on it! Got the Saphir done, now the trimming process begins!! This thing has some pretty nice power!! Just need to get the precision part dialed in and this will be my classic for this year. Still trying to get over burying my Mini Contender yesterday. That was gonna be Steven's. But the good news is now I don't need a motor for his Mini Trouble Maker that will be getting built very soon!!

RE: F3a The Future
ORIGINAL: apereira So and increase in the weight limit will only result in a cost incresase of the sport, and those who can not make weight is because ussually can not or do not want to afford the right equipment, so it wil make the situation worse for those people again. Like my friend Bryan H. says, "this is a professional category". One thing is also true, most people who complaints about the weight rule, do not even fly FAI, some don't compete at ALL, so why making all this big deal about it? So if you want to fly FAI, it is that way, period, if don't want to make the weight rule, there are other classes you can fly, AMA pattern is not bound to FAI, you should all try to get the weight limit off in Masters, that will be a start, but if you people have not been able to change AMA, what chances do you have with FAI?? Again you should probably tell your FAI representative,( who voted BTW for the 5Kg in the past for sure) to propose the weight change at the CIAM conference, this is the only way, and again, if you can not change AMA......... Alejandro Pereira
To quote Ricky Bobby "With all due respect!!!" So the first line I quoted of yours is a total contradiction. You say increasing the weight will increase the cost of the sport, but also say those that complain cannot afford the proper equipment? Doesn't make sense to me. And I do compete, I have spoken to representatives and I still haven't gotten a single answer as to why a heavier plane is an advantage.

RE: F3a The Future
I couldn't agree more with Rookie. The weight max rule is RIDICULOUS! It makes no sense and actually makes things more expensive and take more time to save each gram. After a wreck you can almost guarantee you will need a new plane to make weight, instead of doing repairs to the existing airframe. Nobody I have asked has given a GOOD reason for the weight maximum yet. If it was a minimum weight like pylon I would totally understand.

Evolution 2 Meter Canopy
I am looking for an Evolution 2 meter canopy. If anyone has an extra please let me know. The plane has been discontinued, so if you have a wrecked plane but the canopy is still in decent shape I may be interested in purchasing it from you.

RE: 1st Annual Bakersfield D7 Spring Pattern Bash
I think I have finally recovered from probably the best R/C event I have ever been to. Reconnected with old friends, made some new friends, and am officially hooked on pattern! Just picked up my first 2M plane this week ANC hope to have it ready for Hemet. Thank you Chip for all your hard work and promotion you did to give pattern a nice boost back where it should be. Good times with Team Caglia and great times hanging with my son! Watching Chris fly brought back a lot of memories of a great friend I had, and now I've reconnected with his brother!! Thanks again Tony for all your help and support. Wouldn't have made it trough that contest without it. Hoping to see Chris and Vic at the next pattern contest. I am hoping to improve my skills and look a lot more respectable at the next contest!! Thanks again to all involved! Jamie aka "MagicMan"

RE: 1st Annual Bakersfield D7 Spring Pattern Bash
I have cleared my weekend and hope to still be able to join in. I sent an electronic pre registration already. The RV is packed and my stuff is ready. Gonna need some help, as the last time I flew pattern was about 13 years ago and it was novice. Just hope it's not too embarrassing!! Tony told me about this contest and got me hooked with the Gee Bee!! Look forward to meeting everyone, especially Mr. Bridi!! I think I'm going to bring my Escape that's being rebuilt!
