Shockwave/Tornado Imposter!!!!
Just crusing the web, I ran across this. Looks almost identical to the Shockwave/Tornado line of Redcat Racing. Can't say it doesn't look nice tho. I noticed it does come with a 2.4G radio system, and those suspension arms/knuckles look a little better. Looks to me like they took our cars and upgraded them. I wonder if that suspension will work for ours. Looks a little more durable and I'm sure its a little cheaper than buying the Aluminum upgrades specific to Redcats. It's cheap, too!!!! What do you all think?

RE: redcat with RPM parts!
Nitro is correct on both accounts. I screwed the stock screws thru the RPM bumper, then the metal, then into the stock bumper. And with the shocks, It was a long bolt, 2 nuts and some washers. I couldn't find stock diameter bolts, so I had to drill the holes a little larger. Bolt thru shock, nut on the back and then a washer for a little more space. Then thru the shock tower with a nut on the back to hold it there. Doesn't look as nice as it could, but it works as expected and the shocks are so nice. The stock ones were really bouncy, and these just suck up impact. I can drop the car from a foot off the ground (which was not a good idea on stock) and the bottom plate will not even touch the ground. I love it!!!

RE: redcat with RPM parts!
New shocks, New body, New bumper... It's like a whole new car! Can't wait till the weekend or a slow day at work to get out and drive it!!! With the bumper, I just used the stock screws and screwed it into the stock bumper. Figured that wuld give a little protection for the diff. Just in case.

RE: Did the aluminum upgrades on my tornado by myself!!!
Just oredered a set of those traxxas shocks from ebay yesterday. Can't wait till they arrive. I'm hoping they're a little stiffer than stock. I will miss the blue shocks however cuz I just bought the epx blue flame body. But 8 shocks for $20?! No way I can pass that up! Also, nitrosportsandrunner , any chance you could put up a few pics of that front bumper you made? I'd like to see it and how it looks. Might give it a try. I'm already wearing out my second stock bumper. ***EDIT*** Nevermind, I just saw your new thread with the RPM bumper. That looks sick!!! I'm trying that for sure.

RE: Help with Tornado S30 center diff (center trans)
ORIGINAL: rchobbyunlimited Be very careful if you loosening the clutch screw you dont wont this screw loose because it will vibrate out from the engine running and please locktite on the clutch bell set screw.
My mistake for not mentioning to tighten it back up. I knew that in my head but forgot to type it. I was just getting at moving the clutch on the shaft a little further from the gears but make sure you tighten it back up as rchobbyunlimited said. Nice catch and good call. Thanks!

RE: Did the aluminum upgrades on my tornado by myself!!!
That last pic helped a lot. Now I see they are in different holes in the tower. When I was looking at the pic you posted before, it looked like they were in the same hole and that's what made me run around in circles trying to figure it out lol. Thanks for the help!!! I will definately be trying this setup.

RE: Did the aluminum upgrades on my tornado by myself!!!
ORIGINAL: nitrosportsandrunner its kinda a pain actually. the hop-up towers are thicker where they need to be, but the same thickness where they bolt to the diff housing. what i did, is use a jigsaw and cut one of the plates where it would mount to the diff housing(so only one plate is actually bolted to the diff housing) the weak point in the stock towers is where the shocks mount. that is there area that my 2 plates are bolted together. i have already replaced the front double plates with the hop-up tower, and i will get the rear at some point. my idea worked OK, but it looked ugly. the hop-up towers are even stronger than doubling up the plates and they look a whole lot better!
Actually what i was mainly trying to figure out is how are the actual ball mounts on there back to back in the same hole? did you just cut off a screw head and thread them together? But I do say I love the double shock. It looks amazing. As soon as i can afford a couple extra pieces (darn holidays) I will probably get the big plates and some shocks and try it out. I need the bigger plates anyways. Mine look like they've gone through hell and back. Missing lots of blue finish due to pliers bending them back lol. Edit: I think I figured out your trick.... is the mount on the rear shock a ball mount for the tie rod on the front knuckle? If I remember right, that has a bolt end on it.

RE: Did the aluminum upgrades on my tornado by myself!!!
nitrosportsandrunner, how did you get both of the shock mounts on there back-to-back? That is a sweet setup! Might have to give it a try... I like the double plate idea as well. <script type="text/javascript">titleAndStar(2846,115,0,false,"","")</script>

RE: Help with Tornado S30 center diff (center trans)
May need to try loosening the set screw for the clutch. Let everything spin freely and adjust where the clutch sits on the shaft. If it was sitting too far away from it's side of the case, it could be putting too much pressure on the gears against the other side of the case. Just a guess. Hope it helps....

RE: Help Tornado S30 Wont move!!
Good to see you're back up and running! This happened to mine about a week after I got it. Was a different problem, but I figured I'd share for anyone else who runs into it. What happened to mine was the same condition, just driving and all of a sudden nothing. I found that it had actually stripped the main (1st) gear in the center housing. I guess I had not meshed the motor to the gears tight enough and after running for a while it was wearing down the teeth on the gear. The teeth were all flat and wasn't making contact with the spur gear. I replaced the gear and all was good again. 6 months later with no problems. Except for broken suspension pieces from driving at my work. (Auto shop with lots of large objects that don't move.) But aside from my errors, I am very happy with this vehicle. It's my first real rc car and first nitro anything. I love it!
