If I paid 1200 for all that plastic I would wanna kill myself.  telemetry aside . My ofna gtp2e would absolutlely rape the life from this car . I wanna love it but the plastic is killing me . Oh ya and outta the box my ofna has alloy shocks..... I'd also ditch those tamiya style connectors and the ones you are using aswell from the motor , they are junk and do not provide enough current , may also want to ditch the tower receiver.

RE: HPI Vorza Flux HP difference ? Advice are more then welcome ;)
There are allot of hop ups for the vorZa , also allot of d8 & ve8 parts fit it. Go on rctech website and look at the vorZa forum , it's huge and you will find a ton of good info there. A friend of mine was running his vorZa over 100mph for along time with no broken parts and a few hop ups. He actually did a wide conversion on it using d8 parts. The car handled amazing when it was wider. He may even still have the wide conversion for sale if your interested. His username is vision on rctech. Best of luck with your new car also.

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...
ORIGINAL: ThunderbirdJunkie
ORIGINAL: Foxy What got me about the review was if you weigh up the good and the bad, I don't see how they can end up not liking it... 1) Steering servo...yeh, like there is an RTR in existence that has an appropriately specced steering servo...next! 2) Rocks get in hard to reach places...well, yeh, but where a rock can get in, it can also get out...sure it might be annoying, but it hardly makes or breaks an RC. 3) The tires...on the one hand they said that the tires wer bad, on the other they said they were traction rolling...er, which is it? Also, these are all purpose tires, they are not supposed to be outstanding on anything in particular, just hard wearing all surfaces... 4) Speed control...this is the big deal breaker and they played it down...wth? On the plus side they said... 1) Fast as hell 2) Great fun 3) Cheap 4) Indestructible... Oh, and they also had a non specific diff problem, which may or may not have been in their imaginations. Clearly traxxas anboys, so take the review for what it is with that in mind... Jang at URC basically said similar things, that he had a bunch of non-specific problems with it, but it was fast and fun...so er, the only thing we're seeing for certain is that... 1) it is is normal RTR with everything that includes, such as a substandard servo and a dodgy ESC 2) It is very strong 3) It is competitively priced 4) It is very fast Hm...[&:]
ThunderbirdJunkie suspects that the only reason anybody doesn't like the XS is because they have a first-run model. Two guys at the LHS were pondering what to get, ThunderbirdJunkie recommended the XS, and he also said ''Dunno how it's gonna hold up on 3S, so don't go 3S. It's just stupid on 2S, there's no need for it anyway.'' They both bought XS's and loved them. Come to find out they both ran 3S and smoked their ESC's. Is the truck even drivable on 3S? Anyway, apparently one of the trucks' rear diffs wasn't shimmed properly from the get-go, and it'd barely move under its own power. BTW, R&P are the same as the Bullet's. Other guy had no issues...until he ran 3S. Supposedly neither ESC smells fried, it just doesn't power up when you plug it in...which suggests to ThunderbirdJunkie that it has a weak BEC. So he totally believes that it's an MMP now[&:] Redfisher...the big Savage Flux is an awesome truck. ThunderbirdJunkie has driven several, and he needs to get off his duff and finish his electric 1/8 Savage (just need batteries...$250 for Orion 3S packs is the big hurdle[&:])
I had a 1st run model and I still like the xs but there are just a few things I don't like about it aswell. Of course the obvious is the esc , even if hpi/castle fixes them , they should still be able to run 3s reliably if it is advertised when trying to sell the truck to consumers. The truck is a bit of a pain to work on compared to other cars and trucks out there but once you take it apart a few times youll be a pro which will most likely have to happen if yourun this truck allot. The parts on this truck are made pretty cheaply in my opinion. Drivetrain parts should not wear after only a few runs , with hop ups this can be fixed but again with a Rtr truck advertised being able to use 3s they should of made the truck tough enough to handle it. I am not talking about crashing and breaking parts bc for it's size it's tough but the wear of parts is not good at all. I like the design and it's a fun truck when it runs well , no doubt about that but it def needed some more time in research & development department before being released.

The velenions are far from being a top contender in the esc market but being the 1st waterproof esc for 10th scale , they are not that bad. They did have there problems when they 1st came out but this new hpi/castle esc is much worse at the moment than the velenions. The velenions as of right now handle heat way better. I personally don't run one anymore nor the hpi esc. For now I'll stick with my mmm & mmp.

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...
Could it possibly also be the fact that these esc's are waterproof coated . Which since there is a coating around the circuits and all I would think it would cause the esc to produce more heat and possibly enough testing long term was not done before they put them out on the market. I remember when I had my 1st old school mamba max it ran great. Then after I waterproofed it , it produced more heat in the esc and caused the motor to run hotter. I mean this is castles/hpi's first waterproof system.

Hpi just released steel Universal driveshafts for the xs flux and Anodized suspension pin braces , the driveshafts are a must have for the xs. I sold mine bc of the overheating esc but if I still had it I'd def. Use the driveshafts as my first upgrade , this is what the car should have come with n the 1st place , check hpi's website for the info.

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...
I am sending mine back to tower hobbies , had it since release , first run out esc & motor are smoking hot after a minute run and it shuts down. 2nd run on a good 2s lipo and same thing. Hpi has been great but the turn around time is just going to be to long , I decided i will wait until they work the kinks out 1st and then possibly get another. On a good note it isn't so bad to take apart , this was my second time and it went smooth and was allot easier than the first. Of course I have not opened diffs or anything yet but have swapped the pinion , servo and took out the receiver Out , took the tvps off , center diff and esc. Not bad. I do like the truck for the minute or two I got to run it , with a few upgrades it will make a perfect basher and small track basher/racer in my opinion and the price is right. They just need to fix a few things first. Good luck to the people that have them and have fun , the thing that sold me was having a mini savage that's waterproof and I have it's big bro and it's not , I also liked the size but now I need to find something else for winter bashing that's waterproof , I already had 5 slash 4x4s so maybe a pede or the new bullet fluxes but I don't like there metric hardware. Until then I'll just use my mugen Eco.

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...
Ok I just ran it on 3s , 34t pinion and stock spur. It is very very fast , compared to my mugen Eco which right now is set up for about 100mph+ , this lil xs seems just as fast , prob about 70mph , something around there , oR at at least feels like it compared to the mugen I have. The only problem is it shut off after 5 mins of running ,esc has a solid orange or yellow light on , waited about 40 seconds and it worked again. Motor was screaming hot & esc aswell. I'm kinda pissed bc it's a new car and hpi Advertises the34t and 3s in the manual but what's the point if it overheats I'm pissed . I really don't wanna have to take the motor out again and send it back and I don't wanna change pinions , I liked the way it drove , easy back flips , very fast top end and fun as all he'll. T9 check your temps I hope you have better luck with the smaller pinion. It may just be perfect but won't produce the top end my 34t does for me which I like because I run in very wide open spaces most of the time except for today which was just up and down a smooth street , freshly paved. Oh t9 on my big flux I changed the pinion to a higher one , all my gears came bullet proof so I just changed the idler gear I believe for a more aggressive ratio and it was hardened , gave me a higher top end , only thing I disliked about the big savage was the wheel situation which there 17mm hex situation was a joke , they needed to have the hex hubs like most cars and trucks come with. Great truck though , to big for me right now , I don't have the space. Also just ripped two tires right off the rim.

Towards the back there is a chart also if you call hpi they will tell you this. Same as it's big brother . I guess it shouldn't be a big deal just watch your temps. As for videos I can try sometime but I never really put videos online , guess I'd have to find someone toehold the camera for me.

T9 if you run 3s on stock gearing you will overheat the engine quick. Read the manual it shows the pinions to use for 3s. I will be trying 3s later with the 34t , I know I upped it a bit much but hey it's in the manual and if the motor can't take it , it's warrantied.

I disassembled the whole truck last night , I decided to hang on to it for a bit. It's now in pieces , I have a question to those who own one. The tvps on the bottom of the chassis snap into each other , there is one that does not on the bottom of the chassis. Looks like it could be a defect , does anyone else have this problem ? I know I saw someone with the same problem a few pages back. Just want to make sure before I change the pinion. And put the whole truck back together which is a pain.
