RE: RCAero JC Engines & YDA Engines
I was flying my JC 28 Evo this weekend. The engine has run flawlessly to this point. During my first flight, it started sounding different, so I landed. The prop hub was loose (had play from side to side). The front bearing was spinning in the housing. Tore the engine down today and the front bearing fell out. You could easily see that it had been turning in the case. The internals of the engine were perfect. Plenty of oil, etc. Piston looked great. I probably have no more than two gallons of fuel through it. How should the crank be removed from the rear bearing? Is the case trashed as I assume that a new bearing will not fit tightly anymore? If I need a new case, does anyone still carry parts for the 28? Thanks.

RE: RCAero JC Engines & YDA Engines
Need a bit of help. I have a JC28 Evo with a Walbro 805. Lucky me, it runs great. Last Thursday, had two flights. Went for the third and it died. Luckily I got it down fine. Took a look and the high speed needle was gone. Where can I get a new needle and spring? Thanks. John VB

The O'Reillys here will order in a box, sell you how many you want, then return the unsold plugs. They don't stock them but have them the next morning.

Anyone fly theirs yet? I got two flights on mine last week. The recommended CG was nose-heavy for me. Seemed to fly well. May want to glue the foam to the wheels as one of them separated on landing. Will know more after a couple more flights.

RE: Mini - Pattern practice plane - Monolog at Nitroplanes
I think I'm finished. The pics show where I ended up putting the Rx and battery to balance on the wing tube. Total weight including the battery pack was 1104 grams or 38.9 ounces. Just need some decent weather...

RE: Mini - Pattern practice plane - Monolog at Nitroplanes
The plane has it's issues, but it's not too bad overall. The covering is excellent. I finally got my wings to fit. There was no way they were going to go on stock w/o me breaking something. I had to do some sanding to the ply tabs to get them to fit. For mounting the servos, I glued in a little block of balsa with a ply cap for the servo screw. Pros and cons of mounting the motor shaft fore or aft?? Looks like with the shaft forward and the collet, you can set the prop forward and back easier. I don't think the motor I have came with a mount that would allow me to mount it shaft forward. I plan to use some of the Dubro micro control horns with the two pins. I would rather drill two holes than cut slots. Onward.

RE: Mini - Pattern practice plane - Monolog at Nitroplanes
Hopefully the two pics make it with this post. My canopy would not go on far enough to engage the catch wire. I had to enlarge the slots in the pieces of ply that catch the wire. I held the wire in place with a piece of dowel. Works dine. Also have the motor mounted.

RE: Mini - Pattern practice plane - Monolog at Nitroplanes
How is the canopy latch wire held in place. The beads hold it from moving sideways, but what holds it from moving fore and aft. I don't have the little plywood hook in the fuse to keep tension on it. That's what they show in the drawing. Maybe I'm missing something.

RE: Programming Aurora 9 - Elevon mode
cxcooper, Thanks. I accomplished what I wanted a bit differently. I too have a Funjet (ultra). I went back through the setup so that I had Spoilerons. I then had the airbrake function listed. I adjusted values (don't have them in front of me) such that when on, it gives me a touch of up on both surfaces for takeoff. I then set up two flight conditions, takeoff and high, along with normal on a three-way switch (C I think). Low position is takeoff, then normal then high. For takeoff, I have the airbrake engaged and low throws, for normal I have the airbrake off and low throw and I have higher throws set up on the high condition. Seems to work well. Can't wait to maiden it. We got 11 inches of snow yesterday so it will be a while.

Mando, I thought about that, but the manual makes no mention of being able to have different trims as a flight condition. Guess I should have just tried it. Thanks.

Programming Aurora 9 - Elevon mode
I've got a plane set up in elevon mode. I would like to program a switch to give me a bit of up elevator for takeoffs. After takeoff, flip the switch and go back to normal elevator. I can't see how to do it as some of the functions that would work apparently are not available in elevon mode. Thanks.

RE: Mini - Pattern practice plane - Monolog at Nitroplanes
The elevator halves on mine are misaligned by quite a bit. I may be able to bend the connecting wire and get them in line. One of the aileron hinges was missing. I THINK I have found a couple of slots for the control horns. Will know for sure in a while. I too used a soldering iron to open the needed holes, but missed the three little slots on each side for the wing. Yeah, what to do with the elevator. I don't think the counter balances are needed on this plane.

RE: Mini - Pattern practice plane - Monolog at Nitroplanes
The instruction MANUAL is one sheet of mostly worthless photos. The manual does show using a big hole for the elevator servo. Thanks for keeping me from cutting out the wrong hole. My canopy was completely unglued from it's framework. Got it glued back on last night. Those servo slots look awfully long. What servos do you plan to use?

UPS just dropped off my Monolog. Box was intact with no puncture holes. Good call on the loose parts. Every small part was loose in the box. I opened it up over a linoleum floor so nothing could get away.

RE: Venus II
Yeah, -3 degrees this morning and six inches of snow on the ground. Good building weather. I'm running 2.4 GHz. I have the ignition and Rx separated as far as possible. I have the tank on the cg and the ignition up by the firewall with the Rx back behind the tank. No issues so far. I am also running a single 2S A123 pack to both Rx and ignition. I drop the voltage down for the ignition unit using a diode. No issues so far. I have quite a few flights on this setup. Plenty of thrust and speed. My other Venus has a YS 110 in it. Maybe not quite the pull of the YS, but plenty. I'm going mostly gas due to the economy of the fuel. I have an 8-ounce tank in the Venus and can easily get 10 minute flights with plenty left over. I don't fly at full throttle the entire flight though. A 3-bladed prop will give you more ground clearance. I have no experience with them though. I believe I posted some pics of my setup earlier in this thread. Good luck.

Regarding carb kit D10, is D10-WAT the correct one? That's the only one I can find. The one's I've seen don't have replacement gaskets for the carb to reed block to engine and carb to reed block. Is it ok to reuse the old ones? Thanks.
