Megatech Gemini Biplane?
I just won a megatech gemini at a fly in yesterday and have never flown any electrics. I've been planning on getting one for quite some time, just haven't yet. I do fly 40 to 120 size nitro, but this will be my first electric. Any info, suggestions, tips or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

RE: Am I short on Hexcrews?
It was the armor plated Savage X set. Either it was not meant to replace EVERY screw, my set came up short and I just didnt catch it, or I really screwed up somewhere. They are a little pricey for a set of screws. but they seem pretty tough, look good, and should be hard to strip.

Am I short on Hexcrews?
I just got a set of hexcrews for my Savage X and am having a little trouble with switching them out with the stock screws. These are supposed to repllace every screw on the truck aren't they? If so, which screws replaces the long coarse thread screws in the bottom of the gearboxes and in the shocktowers? If I replace all the screws on the truck with the #4 hexcrews, I come up prettry short. Anybody else got any suggestions?

RE: New to R/C - want to go nitro truck way... help please
Out of all the trucks I've owned (savage 21, 2 savage 25's, savage X, savage X SS, T-maxx 3.3, Mammoth ST and a Warhead) I like the savages the most. I have never driven a TNX, so I won't say the savages are better, but I do think they are more popular and easier to get more hopups for. To me it seems like the TNX is set up a little more for racing, while the savage has always been more for bashing. If you do decide to go with savage, get the X or the X SS as they are much easier to work on (in my opinion). As long as you have a local hobby shop that will be willing to work with you if you have any problems, I don't think you can go wrong either way.

RE: car stalls at idle and is hard to start
I would try opening up the carb just a little more using the idle set screw and see what happens. Another thing you may want to try is getting a little stronger set of springs. A lot of new clucth sets come with 2 or 3 different sets and will have them color coded as to which are the strongest. I don't know if any of this will help or not, but it's worth a shot.

RE: Savage X upgrades
For the arms I would go with RPM. They are still plastic, so it'll have some give to it, plus I think they have a lifetime warranty on them so if you do break them, no big deal. As far as the brakes go, I put a small piece (about 3/4") of fuel tubing between the spring and brake adjustment piece on the throttle/brake arm, and now my truck does "stoppies" without a problem. The spring is just to soft by itself to put much pressure on the brakes.

The link for the rc raven one is : http://www.rcraveninc.com/product/SAFRCSI another one that I have found is one made by hard bodyz that you can buy for $69.99 and that link is: http://www.hobbypeople.net/gallery/599137.asp The second one looks a little sturdier to me, but I've never tried it. RE: Roll cages
the rc solutions do look like real nice cages, I just cant justify $110 on one right now. I've heard the ravens are pretty cheap material and it really doesn't take much to tweak them (although they are only $25 brand new). I just wasn't sure if there was something else good out there for maybe around 50 dollars that I just wasn't seeing.

Is that the one from vg racing? I wasn't sure if that one would fit the X or not. Have you beaten it very hard with that cage on. Kinda curious to see if they're very durable. I just looked back at the vg racing one and saw that they are different.

Roll cages
Anyone have any suggestions for a good roll cage for a savage X? I've looked around a little bit and haven't been able to find much. I don't want to spend 100 dollars if I don't have to, but I haven't been able to find any others that specifically say they fit the savage X. If you have any suggestions (aside from the integy aluminum that looks like the stock plastic one) I'd appreciate it.

RE: Monster Truck ...wich one should i look for ??
If this is your first truck, I'd say get the regular savage X. In my opinion it's easy to work on, it'll probly have all the power and speed you'd want, it'll take a beating more than any other truck I've had, and all the aftermarket parts you can get for it out does just about any other truck. I have had the warhead, do have the t-maxx 3.3, the savage X, the mammoth st, and a Losi Lst. Out of all of them, I think the savage is about the most all around user friendly, but each one does have it's own pros and cons.

RE: Anyone own a Warhead
I got rid of the warhead and got the t-maxx and savy x and love them both. I do actually almost miss the warhead though. I may end up getting another one down the road. As far as problems with both of these trucks... next to none compared to the warhead. It will be a good truck now that they are starting to come out with aftermarket parts, but when me, ashburg, bill, spac, mojo, danny and all the others at the starting of this thread got our trucks, there was nothing for it, half the time even stock parts. Sounds like it's getting quite a bit better though

RE: just got my savageand its great but it doesn't wheelie
You should always tune the hsn before the lsn. Everytime you get your truck out you'll have to retune it to some extent to get the best performance out of it. Weather conditions (humidity, temp, altitude) all affect how your truck will run. Once you do it a couple times it does get much easier though. I normally don't retune mine everytime unless I'm racing. For the most part, unless there has been a big change in the weather you wont notice that much of a difference. When you tune your truck, turning the needles clockwise will make it run leaner, counter will make it run richer. I would probly go back and start from the factory settings as a start. If you want to do that, hold the carb wide open and turn the needles clockwise until you feel some rresistance and then back out like 4 full turns. Check your manual to make sure though. From that point, you'll turn it clockwise in 1/8 turn increments. Hope this helps.

RE: Savage X SS 4.6 vs TMaxx 3.3
The X SS won't be out until at least mid august, so if you want something now...... I have both trucks and love both of them (3.3 and savage X). I've beat the savage a lot worse then the t-maxx and broke less, but the t-maxx is a lot quicker. If I were to only have one of em I would probly keep the X though, it will take quite a bit more abuse.

RE: Anyone Own a Savage X?
Speedy, a lot of the failsafes do not run on alk batteries so you may want to get a 5 cell rechargeable hump pack as well (plus you'll end up saving a lot of money over the cost of batteries) and also get 4 feet or so of extra fuel tubing. Somewhere down the road sooner or later you will need it for something. Ash, when you glue your tires, do like someone told you earlier with the glue around the bead, after you do that though, wrap a couple rubber bands around the tires until the glue is set good. They'll hold the bead of the tire real snug to the rim until its dry. Hope this helps

RE: SAVAGE X or T-maxx 3.3?
I have both trucks, and they're both good trucks. I think the savage will take a hell of a lot more beating, but the t-maxx will handle what I've given it so far with no problems. The t-maxx is faster if you're looking for speed and rides a lot "lighter" then the savage, but if I were only to have one of them I'd go with the X.

RE: Anyone own a Warhead
I had a problem something close to this, and it ended up being my hsn was way to rich. When I set it last, it was cold and I think humid out and when I went to run it the next time it kept doing exactly that, and that was after I had it set almost just right (that day). I think I leaned it out almost a full turn and it ran with no problems.

Anybody interested in buying an extra warhead body? I had this painted in Michigan and sent to me and put it on the truck only a few times. The body is still pretty much new and has no damage at all, I used it more for show than anything. If you are interested, just make an offer either through PM or e-mail me at J_ME65@bresnan.net.

For your steering servo, go digital. To me it's well worth the extra money, especially if you're going to be doing any racing. My Warheads on it's way back to DT AGAIN, but I have my X and a 3.3 on the way. Anxious to try it out, either way I'll have 2 good trucks that'll run and maybe 1 for deco. We'll see

Ben, try leaning out your hsn up towards 1/3 to 1/2 turn and try it again. Make sure you have a temp gun with you and keep a close eye on that when you do it though. I ran my X one day, next day I had that problem and some how it was just way to rich. Ran great the day before though. Never tried posting any pics on here, so have to try it now.

RE: Anyone own a Warhead
I finally got my truck back and had a chance to go out and drive it.....about 1/2 tank[sm=tired.gif] At their settings, without me touching anything but the fuel tank and pull starter, another spur gear is shot. Didn't hit anything and was just going up and down the road in front of my house. They ended up sending me a different truck back, and the radio in this truck sucks. I get maybe 50 feet away(if that) and the failsafe starts kicking in. When the truck got here the radio was loose inside the box just banging around, and the ant was jammed all the way down inside the the transmitter, splitting the case in half. When I sent my truck in almost a month ago it was packaged just like when I bought it, seems like they would've sent it back the same way too. So far, I'm still not impressed with the warhead[:D] as you can tell, but I might still keep trying. Who knows OK, I'm done with my B***h session, lets go have some fun with our trucks (X)[:D]

RE: Anyone own a Warhead
I mailed my truck in around the starting to mid Feb, I am finally supposed to get it back tomorrow. Almost a full month to get it back, kinda seems like a long time for "pro's" to be fixing it, don't it? I think I am actually anxious to get it back though. I have a custom painted body and new rims and tires for it so I'll be able to finally see how it all looks together. Since it is still kinda cold out for the most part it'll just stay parked and I'll drive the X, but once it warms up a little they should start having the other parts available, hopefully. A little while back around the 28th of FEB someone was waiting on parts and I told them to let me know when they got them, anybody remember who that was? If whoever does remember, did you get your parts and if so, when? I was just curious to see the time dif between getting parts and having them fix the trucks. Anyways, wish me luck.[:D]

The easiest thing to do is just pull the motor. You can pull the fuel tanks too, just to give you more room, but you don't need to. After the first time, it gets real easy.

RE: Anyone own a Warhead
Nobody is getting on the noo-b's for being new. What everyone is talking about is when someone comes in, says they got the warhead last week, and then starts goin off about the people who have been here for who knows how long to stop whining. We are all to some extent new to this hobby, especially when it comes to a truck like the warhead. None of us have a problem with "noo-b's" asking a question or trying to help them out, just when we have a problem and some guy whos been on this thread for a day or two says something about quit crying, it's part of the hobby. Anymore, I don't hardly get on any of these threads and when I do, I try to help people by PM instead of posting, just to avoid all the crap. Zach, when you first came in, you kind of had the same issues, but now you're a regular on this thread. The only thing any of us are sayin is don't come in smashing and then expect help. We all get frustrated with our trucks sooner or later, hopefully it wont be too much longer before we get past that, until then though, dont come in talking trash or leaving the little remarks.
