RE: Jacknife now on Cooks gear w/full doors!!
Hey Neal, No problem. I will be back in the shop with the camera over the weekend and will take some interior shots, formers installed, canopy hatch, fuel tank locations, etc.. and post here. This jet is pretty much an arf in primer when you get it. Bolt the wing and stab on, set in on the bench, and start dreaming of wild paint schemes. Take care, Jack

RE: The Jacknife-South Texas success story!
Hi, On the video, what your hearing is the pausing in between air blasts used during the start up process. The pauses allow for the internal temp of the turbine to increase to the needed 168 degree C to for the ECU to start teh fuel pump. Towards the end of that start up, a closed fuel valve wasn't helping matters either,,,oops! Jack

RE: The Jacknife-new mega jet out of S.Texas
News release!! After numerous requests from you..the jet builders, I have decided to offer the Jacknife in a kit form. Here is what you will get. All molded parts (the fuse, hatch, tail feathers, elevators, and rudder (pre-balanced), a fuel tank system, bypass) and a tailpipe. I will include a hardware package for all the heavy duty linkage hook-ups (elevator, rudder, aileron, flaps)... these are carbon fiber shafts with titanium ends. Tanks are pre-built and pressure checked w/BVM hardware. The formers are installed in the fuse for you. The canopy hatch is done for you. A clear canopy is included. You will have minor cosmetics to do on the pre-primed parts. A pre-sheeted foam cored wing is included. Flap pockets (split flaps) are done for you, and molded flaps are included. The ailerons are also cut out and capped for you. The instruction manual will guide you through this VERY easy assembly process with a few photos to help along the way. No gyros needed. If you have built ANY other jets before, you will enjoy this "walk through the park" process. This jet was designed for Robart 635 retracts. They may be purchased directly from Robart or if you have JMP Firebird gear, use them...as this jet was designed to accept them with ease also. Kit price as listed is $3800.00 and does not include shipping. A deposit is required to reserve a Jacknife and balance is due prior to shipment. Bypass for AMT, or Jetcat available. The jet is an all epoxy lay-up, with contest grade balsa or ply used throughout. The guide for this design throughout the tooling and design phase was "it has to WITHSTAND the AMT Olympus" I invite you to call with more questions or to place your order 956-565-9347 God bless!

RE: The Jacknife-new mega jet out of S.Texas
Thanks Joe, You'll be seeing a Jacknife out on the West Coast real soon...in Exotic colors. As for the guy in BFE, have the "nads" to put your name on your post where the jet world can put a face to your comments. I have been building jets for a living full time for 10 years, and been in Rc for 30 years. During these ten years, I have moved around South Texas looking for the best spot to operate and keep my family happy. I have tried other lines of work, never stopping the jet building, only slowing down on the build times. The customers I had during these times may have been dissappointed with the time frame...BUT never the product, except maybe for an L-39. The point is "the real jet guys" who know me, can always reach me. PERIOD! When I am ready to accept Jacknife orders, I will have a order line wireless set-up strapped to my A$$ and will be available during normal business hours for calls and questions. BFE..make sure I get your email so I can send you my number

RE: The Jacknife-new mega jet out of S.Texas
Hello to everyone inquiring about the Jacknife. Let me start here. The Jacknife is currently offered as completely molded aircraft, except for the wing. The wing is foam cored, balsa sheeted, glassed like what were all use to. It works, it's easy to repair any minor dings if needed, and cheaper to replace for the consumer if the event of something unfortunate. I will be offering the Jacknife for now as a TRUE RTF custom built jet. It will be completely built , with JR-8611's on the flight controls, all JR high end servos for the other functions. No micros in this jet anywhere. It will be on it's gear, hinged, horned, and hooked up. The fuel cells are installed and plumbed with lines run forward to pump location. Air system, gear doors, etc will all be installed. The radio and accessory tray, with air gauges (2) 1 for gear, one for brakes-separate systems. I currently have AMT and JET-cat bypass/tailpipe which buyer will have a choice of. Currently with the cure time in between lay up and vac-bag stages, It takes me 3 days to do the whole tail feather section, and 2-3 days for a fuse and hatch. Clear canopy is and included. All the gear is mounted low enough in the hatch area to allow for a full cockpit and "blue box" type pilot figure...not included. $7500.00 ARF built, on it's gear, hinged, base white paint-less servo pack, $8500.00 base white paint RTF w/full servo pack( your choice JR or Fut digital) $10,500.00 RTF 3 color sport paint . Exotic paint available. The RTF versions will be rigged with your turbine, TX/RX. and battery system. I will install your turbine and CG it for you. Add fuel, air, charge and fly...a true RTF. Call 956-565-1584 for more info after 5:30 PM Mon-Fri

The Jacknife-new mega jet out of S.Texas
Hi Guys, I thought I would drop an update about my new jet, the Jacknife. Some of you saw her fly at Mississippi Afterburner this past May. If you missed it, hang on, I'm slowly working my way around the jet circuit. I flew 3 flights on it last weekend. Now, this is the part that will upset you, I fly from a paved aux runway that is 150' by 5000' This is nice in those less than perfect scenarios. The wind was about 20mph, 90 degrees cross to the centerline. I was a bit hesitant about flying, but needed to know how the "super jet" would handle these conditions. We paced off 100 steps and placed our marks. Thanks to my great assistant and video guy Rudy for catching the original error I typed in of 300 paces, that's not very impressive distance. 300-350 feet is. We wanted to know how little of space was needed to operate such a large jet. The power was applied to the At-450 and the jet rolled past me standing at mid-point and lifted off with room to spare before reaching the end of our mark. A solid ten minute flight was enjoyed and now the moment of truth. A fly by at reduced power to drop flaps and gear check. Power up for the go-around dirty, set-up for the approach aiming for centerline, and hold my breath. Wait, this can't be right, it's NOT doing anything ugly or miss-behaving. She weather-vaned as expected, which was very comfortable. I flew her down the centerline to within a couple of feet of the runway, nailed the rudder to straighten things up a bit, and greased her in and hit the Glennis brakes, which performed flaw-lessly, and was stopped with-in the 300 paces. I thought this was luck, until I repeated the whole thing on the next 2 flights. Ok here it is. This is BY FAR the biggest( duh) and easiest jet that I have ever flown, that has geat performance at both ends of the envelope, and looks sexy I think. The flame out on that inverted pass at MAB was due to a leaking hopper tank that sucked air when I rolled inverted. The outcome was text book with a dead stick landing in front of us on the run way. I will have some pics posted soon if you haven't seen it yet, and possibly some video that we shot at MAB. There will be no changes to the production model that will be available shortly. This jet will easily fly with any 25 +lb turbine, as most of my first flight at MAB was at 1/3 to 1/2 throttle and the loops and C-8's were as big as you would probably want. Stay tuned for more, or email me for more info, specs, or a demo DVD which is now available. Blessings...she's a keeper!!
