Where to get Heli set up locally (Miami FL)
Hello All, I have been playing with electric helis for a few years now and still am a complete noob. I have a coax I fly now but wanted something more challanging so I bought a TRex clone. I bought the flasher PE from Banana Hobby and other parts online. I have been building models my whole life and had no problem putting it together. I the issue i am having is adjustment or set up. I have read so many online guides that have help a little but I am still missing something. I can't get the heli to lift off and it shakes like crazy on low head speed. I think I need to take it some where to get adjusted and then I should be good. I just have no idea where to take it. Any suggestions?

RE: Needed help geting a helicopter...
ORIGINAL: amigo max Well then, My current plan is to buy from Xheli.com. Its worth 300-400$. Does Xheli.com have any bad reports here? Any one experience any bad situation with them? One thing i noticed in the RC world, If u choose one model , another model attracts you by cost, specs, rating... Thnaks
I have been playing with electric heli since about 2005 and I am still a noob!!!! I followed your path very similarly. I saw some nice fancy 3d elect heli and figured "I can do that". I made the mistake of buying a walkera 36. Very similar in size to a 400. This was actually my second heli. The first was one of the "toys" you mentioned which doesn't really count. So as you may have heard the walkera brand is pretty bad but I hear they are alot better now than 4 years ago when I had one. The heli was really not that bad just way too advanced for me. I had it hover for a few seconds on several occasions before it hit a wall or the side of the house. After that I could not repair it correctly to get it to spin up smoothly. Something was bent or out of balance. Also the electronics were very spotty. I spent a lot of time and money trying to get it to work but no luck. So anyway I kinda gave up for a while then decided to try again with a coax and a sim. I bought a Axe CX micro and this thing is a blast. I crashed it at least 50 times and kept rebuilding it until the main board fried/died. A friend gave me an old Lama V3 that needed some work. I bought some spare parts and am flying that right now. I'll tell you what, the cxmicro and lama are both coax but they fly so differently. I have crashed the lama many times too but it seems to be pretty durable. I even fly it outside in light wind. It's fun and challenging. So to get back to your topic I believe the heli you are looking at is a bit advanced. You may be a freak of nature and learn to fly it right off the bat but more likely you will end up spending way too much money learning basics. If you are hell bent on a single rotor heli I suggest the Blade 400. Everyone sells them so parts are easy to find and they have a great radio you can upgrade with. This hobby is not cheap. What ever you think you can afford right now needs to be doubled or tripled. Oh also every store out there has good and bad reviews. I have read so many bad reviews on Banana Hobby and Xheli but you know what? I ordered from both and received good service. Good luck and have fun.

Axe CX Micro 3 in 1
Hey Guys, I have an Axe CX Micro and I think the rx may be dead. I have had this heli for a few months now and have crashed and rebuilt in at least 50 times. After the last crash the tx will not control the servos or motors. The little led on the mixing board lights up but nothing else works. Is there anyway to test the board? Anywhere to get a cheap board? I have seen them on ebay for about 40 but I could just by a new heli for close to that.

RE: Esky Lama V3
Hi Sven, I got the heli from a friend who said someone else gave it to him. Well it looked like it had been sitting in a garage for quite some time. The blades were cracked and chipped here and there with about 25% missing from one of the lower ones. I looked it over and made sure the controls looked like they worked with out spinning up the motors. When satisfied everything looked ok I tried to fly it. It seemed like the motors were not turning fast enough. The problem was the top blade holder was spinning in around the main shaft. It wasn't locked down. There were no set screws to hold it in place. I took it off and used some jb weld to secure it in place. Once I fixed that I got it to fly but not well. The blades still needed to be replaced. Well I ordered a new battery, blades, and the top blade holder. I am using the new battery and blades but did not install the top blade holder yet. My fix is still holding up. Now It looks like I need a swash plate. I will be upgrading to the metal one. Oh yeah almost forgot, the 4in1 had the adjustment screws turned turned the wrong way. I am still playing with them but I have more power now. I will check out the website you gave me for spare parts but I have had luck with xheli also. Oh yeah and about the tx/rx. For some reason I could not get them to connect at first. The little red light on the rx just kept flashing then went steady red. Not sure why.

Esky Lama V3
Ok so I aquired a Lama V3 that the previous owner could not get to lift of the ground. I took it apart to check it out and everything looked ok with the exception of the blades. The motors spin up, the servos and radio seem to work properly. I decided to buy new blades and the center shaft that holds the balance bar on. Well I went to 2 local hobby shops and they had never even heard of Esky!!! WTF? I decided to call the third instead of wasting a trip there and they did not carry anything for Esky either. Is this an internet only heli? I ended up ordering the parts online but it really sucks not being able to find this stuff locally. On another note, if the Rx/Tx will not connect does that mean the 4in1 is bad?

RE: Need help repairing an esky lama
The Lama looks like an older one. The top balde assembly is plastic. I guess I could just try to add a set screw. The Axe CX is was pretty nice. I crashed it at least 50 times and it just kept working. Finally it died. The problem is the electronics are all together. So I guess I have to by a main board or what ever it is called. Thanks for the help.

Need help repairing an esky lama
Hello all, A friend gave me an esky lama that doesn't fly. The radio works and it spins up but no lift. I notice the top rotor assembly pops off the main shaft. The main shaft is notched but there is not set screw to hold the top rotor on. I figure this could cause it to spin freely. There is no screw hole for the top rotor assembly to lock on the main shaft. does this need to be secured some how? I am still a beginner and do not know much about this heli. I have been flying a helimax Axe CX Micro until something burned out. No power at all. Help please.

Axe CX Micro won't lift off
Hello All, I have an Axe CX Micro that I have rebuilt several times due to many crashes. I have always been successful even when I thought it would not fly again. Now after the last rebuild it has no lift. Both motors spin but they don't seem to generate enough power. One motor sems a little slower than the other. Not sure what to check. I have gone over this heli very carefully. Can anybody suggest what I should try next? Thanks.

Realflight g3
Hello All, After alot of wasted money on wrecked Heli's I bought a real flight G3 simulator. I was too cheap to buy the latest version and was wondering how to set it up. I installed it on my pc and it works ok but the heli seems to get away from me in the distance. Isn't there a way to zoom in on the heli? I have used a free flight sim and a pay version called clearview and they both do the same thing. I lose the heli in the clouds or from distance. Also there are not many of the newer heli's in this version. Is there a way to add them. I would like to add the blade 400, trex and the like. Thanks.

RE: Eleven days just to ship an order
ORIGINAL: cactus hopper Ehirobo, it'll be at least another week or ten days before it gets here. I'm going to sell all this mail order crapola on ebay and buy a blade 400 and a T-rex 450SE.
I agree buying online sucks but the prices are generally so much better than LHS's. What you could try to do is buy a blade 400 or a T-Rex clone and get parts locally. I recently found a couple of decent stores in my area that I can use instead of online shopping. They cost a little more but you don't have to wait.

Good Inexpensive Gyro?
Hello All, I am trying to build a trex clone- Flasher PE. I had a cheap walkera 36 and am using the gyro from it. I know walkera's electronics are pretty bad so I am looking to upgrade the gyro. There are quite a few on line for about 35-60. Can you get a decent gyro for this price or do I need to spend more? Thanks,

Hello all, I recently bought a flasher PE after reading the positive review here. I also bought a spektrum dx6i to go with it. Now I need help setting it up. Where is the best place to mount the receivers on the heli? How do I bind the tx to the rx? How do I connect the servos? Which servo cable goes where on the rx? Diagrams and pictures are appreciated. Thanks.

RE: Where to learn the basics ?
For people who are more of a risk taker (like myself) and just want to dive into the 450 heli's look at Radd's School of Flight. He explains in great detail how to learn the controls of the heli on the ground before you even try to hover or fly. I started out with a cheap walkera 36 (deffinately not good for a beginnger. Very cheaply made) then tried a Walkera #4 (also cheap and not good for beginners) and have now stepped back to a HeliMax Balde cx micro coax. The coax has been the best so far but from what I have heard it is not a good trainer. I guess the jump from coax to fp is huge. Good luck with whatever you choose. It is addicting.

Helimax Axe CX Micro
I have an Axe CX Micro that I have crashed at least 50 times. I have had to replace the shaft that holds on the blades and the blades several times. I am not complaining. I cant believe it still flies. The problem is that the servos dont seem to control it as well as when it was new. It just kind of floats around. I have checked and they seem to acuate correctly. When you give it left or right stick it still goes in that direction but just very gradually. Any ideas? Thanks,

Ordering online vs. local shops
I live in miami fl and there are really no good shops down here. They charge at least 40% more than online. I have tried ordering from some online shops that were recomended here but most require a signature for delivery. They will not leave it at the door because it's a condo. This is getting really frustrating. I either get F&cked in the @ss by the local shop owner or the shipping company. I can't win. Anybody else have this issue and figure out a way to solve it?

RE: Outdoor Co-Axial
ORIGINAL: Balr14
ORIGINAL: Beachcomber New member here. It is my impression (based on reading a lot of forums over the past 5 months) that the larger a Co-Ax is, the better it will handle the wind. Still probably not as good as single rotor, but still larger is better. Have you seen the new Walkera 400 size Co-Ax!!! http://www.walkera.com/en1/particular.jsp?pn=Z5lmam400D
The opposite is true. A stock coax has no ability to handle wind because the upper rotor cancels the movement authority created by the lower rotor. A bigger coax just presents a bigger profile for the wind to catch. The only reason those large coaxes are billed as outdoor helis is they are too big for indoors. You never see any mention of them handling wind. If you think bigger is better, try the Walkera 38, they don't come bigger than that in a coax. I guarantee it will be a real education in coax capabilities, if nothing else. If you want a heli you can fly indoors and still performs well in wind, buy an SRB Quark.
Yeah for about a $300 price increase!!!
