RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video
Is there anyone using the AT landing gear legs that have issues ,like soft springs , bouncing on landing and swerving down the runway on take off. I fought this issue recently and have never had an issue keeping a jet sttaight on take off or bouncing landings. A friend with a Flash helped me with UF landing technique and I learned to fly a slower pattern and land slower and that took care of the bouncing for the most part (Thanks Alot Boston Brian ,I really Appreciate It!!!). The issue with swerving down the concrete runway (grooved airport runway) was out of control!! I did notice that the r/s tire had some runout and would rub on the leg , everytime it would rub the jet would squat down on that side.(Fixed the rubbing/ was a little bit better). Then as a temporary fix ,I bound the AT trailing link knee joint on both main legs with electrical tape (to prevent the strut from compressing) just to try it out. The swaying was now totally eliminated , and the jet is WAY more forgiving on landings. No more bouncing! Even when landing is a little fast! It stuck everytime on landing and didn't bounce at all. This has led me to believe that the gear springs are too soft, and as the the jet starts to settle on the gear the wing angle of attack changes (more positive) and causes the jet to get airbourn again. I do know that proper landing technique is required , Too fast and you bounce, although tapeing the mains ridgid made this jet so much easier to land without bouncing. I have over 260 flights on my Boomerang and never have had any bouncing issues. I also owned an Classic Flash /with the origional straight compression Comp arf struts and it never bounced like this jet does. I have the origional straight compression struts from my old Composite ARF flash on my Boomerang and they work great . I was thinking of changing out the AT legs, or at least getting higher tension springs (if they make them??) , I have also considered the same straight struts that came with the Classic flash. Any advice or suggestions are welcome .Thank You , Jack.

I have the AT struts on my Ultra , I like them they work great. I have had some bouncy landings and they are very strong, I did manage to break a spring on my third flght , although it was my fault. The long springs seem to take a lot more punishment than some off the short spring styles I have used on other jets, they don't stretch out and become loose as easily.

RE: CARF Ultra Flash
Luv2flyrc, I fly mine with a Cheetah, I find it hard to slow up for landing, and end up bouncing the landing. I have a New Rabitt 100 in my Boomerang Elan. I have thought about swapping it into the Ultra to see if the residual thrust is the problem. It just keeps going and going with the Cheetah I find it hard to land without that damn bouncing, I grease the landing and it still gets back up and bounces flying on grass. I only have 7 flights on it and only three landings were good ones, all the rest bounced, I broke gear pins once. Any suggestions my cg is at at the rearward cg reccomended in the manual. Tried 4'' flap no crow, tried , 4'' with crow still fast on landing. Growing fustrated ,Love the way it flys its an awesome sport jet . Everyone says it lands great , I have over 265 flights on the Elan and its simple too land and never bounces. Thanks JAck.

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video
Izzy, I fly a Jr9303 2.4 radio with a Jr 922 dsmx powersafe reciever on my Ultra Flash and on my Boomerang Elan. Both have( twin) A123 2 cell 2300 batteries feeding directly into the reciever EC3 battery plugs. The boomerang has 248 flights on this set up, the Flash has only about 8 flights on her so far. I use a total of three remote recievers one in the nose one in the canopy area and one in the right wing .I used all the recommended JR8411 sevos on the flight surfaces. No powerbox is needed as there are two battery inputs on the reciever and a small switch that signals the reciever to turn on .I charge with a Cellpro 4s balance charger that charges directly through the balance plug at the batteries. I also charge the Life 3 cell turbine battery with this charger. I like how convenient it is to charge with, it tells you the amount of charge present expressed as "fuel level percentage %". Charges up to 4 amps, also does lipoly, plus its small and fits neatly in my flight box. The A123 batteries I used are in the stick (end to end) configuration and fit neatly in each bay next to the nose gear,I got them from Todds models. The 3 cell ECU battery is in the nose with the air tank. I set it up completely stock as shown in the manual clean and simple. You are going to love this jet , its fast and flies on rails. Enjoy!! Got 4 flights on My Ultra Flash, Still working on getting her slowed down to land. This plane really maintains energy. Love the power with the Cheetah. Does anyone have a knife edge mix settings , I fly a JR 9303 2.4. I have got to say I love the way this jet flies, Its like an arrow!!! As for the landings I think I might be flying the pattern to fast, I have a tree line to clear on landing thats 200 yards away. Does she give good warning before she tip stalls?? Thanks Jack

Needed Ultra Flash AirTec Landing gear spring
Hello , Guys is there anyone out there with a spare Air Tec spring (for the AirTec Square stlye German made Trailing Link struts) on the Ultra Flash. I broke the eyelet off of my spring after a bouncy landing on the maiden flight. This seems to be a non stocking part, I checked with my Comp. Arf rep. and he doesn't have them. I would like to get back into the air ASAP. Thanks, Jack.( Paypal ready).

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video
Does anyone know where I can get the spring for the AT style main landing gear strut?? I got to test fly my Ultra Flash, Great flying Jet!, made the mistake of landing a little too Hot and got into the dreaded boucing. The only damage was it broke the main gear spring on one side and it opened the trunion block on the nose gear retract. So I need a main gear spring for the AT style main leg and a trunion block for the Nose gear Behotec retact. If anyone has or knows where I can get these parts this week please let me know. I am anxiuos to fly her again. I had her set up with 4'' of flap (no Crow) I have to drop in over a 80 foot tree line thats 300 yards away. I probably should have cut the throttle before the turn to final , I used most of the grass strip up trying too slow her down, then touched down for about 10 feet and then got into that damn kangeroo hop. I am lucky I have no other damage! I also noted that I had almost a full main tank of fuel (I have main tank /wing tank set up) after 6 minutes flying with a Jet Central Cheetah (crising around at half throttle most of flight). That probably added to my fast landing speed. I know most guys fly with Flap and no crow. would the crow set up help to get slowed down coming in over the tree line? I guess I was worried about slowing her down too much after reading on this thread that someone had theirs snap and go in on landing. Thanks for any help , Jack.

Needed Ultra Flash Nose Gear door
I am finishing my Ultra flash/ Jet Central Cheetah and need a nose gear door. Mine was missing from the kit. Does anyone have one laying around? Don't really know if i have to have it on to test fly it, I also don't have the main gear liners/covers that go in the wing , but I think alot of guys fly without them so I will fly with out the liners. If anyone has the nose gear door I would appreciate it. Thanks JAck.

Does anyone notice when you bolt the wing on,that the wing sits up a little at the back. Mine seems to lay on the bypass and sits about 10 mm above untill you tighten the wing down. I don't have the engine in yet but I assembled the bypass and inlet ducting ,and noticed this when I bolted the wing on. Seems like it would be ok, just want to be sure. Thanks ,jack.

What is the landing gear of choice for the Ultra Flash , flying off of grass ? I had the Behotec/Inter. gear set in my standard flash, they were great , except for the pins and grinding flat spots to keep the gear from turning. Jack.

RE: WOW! Jet Central does it again! Rabbit 100
Actually, Its an optical illusion because the Regular Rabbit is mounted in my Bobcat and sitting down lower that the other two turbines in the picture. Diameter looks exactly the same , lengthwise looks about 1/4 longer that the regular Rabbit. Definetely smaller and lighter that my Falcon. The Compressor wheel looks polished as well. Will be installing in my Boomerang Elan this week , but want build an Ultra Flash and put it in that. Should be a nice combo. Jack.

WOW! Jet Central does it again! Rabbit 100
Wow, Unbelievable is all I can say!! When I started out in jets I researched all the engine choices available (4 years ago). I not only wanted a reliable engine ,I wanted good support and service as well. I ended up picking up the phone one day and called Jet Artes/ Jet Central. I was greeted by a gentleman named Eric Clapp. He took the time to answer all of my questions, talked about the lifetime warranty. Eric assured me the factory service would be there to handle any problems that may arise. I liked the way that Eric treated me that day on the phone. He seemed very knowledgeable, honest and trustworthy. I ended up ordering a Jet Central Falcon 100 Turbine from Eric. He told me to send a check to him and he would process the order. The next MORNING , UPS pulls up and delivers a brand new Jet Central Falcon!! I had not even mailed the check YET! I called Eric and thanked him reassuring him the check would be in his hands via an overnight delivery. I could not believe that the engine was sent out and delivered, before I even paid for it. I was extremely impressed with the speed of service. Long story short, I have owned that Falcon 100 for almost 4 years now. It has provided well over 250 flights in several aircraft. I had a few issues with the engine early on, but every time I called Eric. He answered and was able to provide immediate technical support. (I even called on a Sunday and he answered and solved a starting issue. Another instance, he had lead engineer from Mexico, on a three way conference call trouble shooting a gas solenoid.) The service and support has been awesome! I sent my Falcon back for its 25 hour service over the past winter. It was serviced and returned to me in 20 days. I have watched my buddy wait months for repairs on his other major brand turbines. Recently while flying, my trusted Falcon turbine shut down in flight, I landed safely and checked it over. The engine seized, possibly due to a bearing failure. I gave Eric a call, and sent it in for repair under warranty. Two weeks passed by and I had not heard anything. I emailed Eric to check the status. He responded a day later,Call Me , Great News. I called Eric and he informed me that due to the age of my Falcon some of the parts necessary to repair it were not in stock. He assured me Jet Central would repair it under warranty. However additional delays would be necessary while waiting for parts to be machined in their plant. He then told me Jet Central would like to replace my damaged turbine with a brand new Rabbit 100 at NO COST to me, and it could be shipped in two days!!! Obviously, I was blown away by the customer service and the way that Eric and Jet Central have supported their products. Replacing or upgrading a 3 ½ year old engine with a brand new engine at NO cost is unheard of in this hobby! Today (three days later) I am sitting here admiring my brand new Jet Central Rabbit 100, I must be one of the first customers to get one as I don’t even see it listed on the Jet Central web site yet! Its Kero start as all Jet Central engines will be from here on out per Eric. I know that I made the right decision choosing Eric Clapp and Jet Central four years ago. Both have greatly exceeded all of my expectations in every way. I will be a lifelong customer. I also own two other Jet Central engines (Super Bee II and a Rabbit VT ). Here are a few shots of my new Rabbit 100, along with my Super Bee II KS ,and my Rabbit VT Kero start. Looking forwards to installing her in my trusty everyday flyer (boomerang elan) . Jack George. Note I will post better pictures tonight !!
