RE: Electric Retracts - Modifying existing Air/Servo-operated Retracts
I believe Jomar make a product for that, but could be wrong. do the E-Flite not come with some sort of stagger feature?

RE: Where to Sell Lipo Packs for EDF
25C is low these days for EDF use. they are better suited to heli, or sport flying than EDF. 45C and higher is the standard these days, but a minimum of 30C is recommended for todays higher powered EDF systems. I'de try in one of those classified sections to sell those packs. you'de have better luck. Rich

you can always go to www.wingspanretracts.com and check those guys out. they sell linear actuators to replace the air cylinders on your air retracts and is a cheaper option than down and locked. worth looking into at least. :) Rich

thanks for responding Mike. if you don't mind me asking, can you tell me where to find the parts to make this work? I've seen a worm gear set on the Tamiya website, but it looks a little fragile. hopefully you may be able to point me in a different direction. do you have any pics of that gear train by any chance? thanks. RE: So, lets talk about Aardvarks...
just wondered how you do the elctric gear, driven by jackscrew. is this a home made design, or something commercially available? I'm thinking of something similar to drive the main gear on my Sepecat Jaguar build, but I'm pulling my hair out with it. LOL. any info you could provide would be fantastic. thanks. Rich

at least get someone who knows how to fly, to fly it first, so he knows what it looks like flying and not in a garbage bag. LOL. sorry if that sounds harsh, but it's reality for most folks who try and learn the hard way. Rich

RE: Electric Retracts - Modifying existing Air/Servo-operated Retracts
Boeing.............................I know this might be a bit much to ask, but would you be willing and/or able to give a step by step how to wire up the boards? I'm almost an electronics brain dead.................I have the ability, but not the know how. LOL. I'm sure there are others that are in the same boat as me. this is such a huge step ahead for all of us and it's ashame not to take full advantage of it. electronic is the way I want to go on my Jaguar build and this would fit right into my plans. I'm gonna order all the goodies you listed on your post and the mechanicals to build the retracts. being a jet, I wouldn't be interested in the stagger anyway, so the current programming would suit me just fine. they just need to go up and down. :) this is great stuff though, so keep it up and we can get others going on this to give good feedback for all to benefit. RE: Electric Retracts - Modifying existing Air/Servo-operated Retracts
I would be interested in these electric gear for my Sepecat Jaguar build. I don't want to go with air, but there really aren't any electric gear out there for 10+LB planes. I've checked out your website and now I'm thirsty for more information. LOL. I can do the mechanical work, but I have no idea about electronics. hopefully you can sell the elctronics only if you don't have the ability to mass produce full retracts. maybe Larry can help you out with that part. he makes some great looking gear and might be a good partnership. he's LJE4357 on RCGroups and his company is SouthEast Model Products. I believe his email is LJE4357@AOL.com. worth a try at least. Rich

RE: Christen Diffusion Jaguar: build etc
hi Gordon is there any more footage of this Jaguar anywhere? wouldn't mind seeing more of it. :) I'm doing a scale build at the same size as the Diffusion Jaguar. did you end up with a good CG point? I have the maintenance manuals for the full size and it recommends 21-29% MAC, depending on armament, fuel, etc. I'm also wondering what the root and tip chord measurements are........................just wondered how far off scale they are at this size. any info would be appreciated as there aren't enough of these planes modelled, IMO. RE: Sepecat Jaguar wing section
yes, the Airfix is widely available and can be had for a good price on Ebay, if you can't find one in the stores. the 72 scale is fine to work from though and they are even more widely available than the 48 scale. either way, you are going to get a pretty accurate contour using a pin gauge. the drawings available online are nowhere near as accurate and are sometimes to slightly different scales..........as I have found out. a model is by far your best choice if you can find a pin gauge at your local hardware store. I bought mine for about 15 dollars at Canadian Tire, but in other countries, you will have to source them out, but are readily available to be purchased. again, the airfoil is hard to come by, for some reason, but it is the NACA 65A-006 for those that need to know. LOL. hope that helps. Rich

RE: Sepecat Jaguar wing section
that's how I did mine when converting to paper at my scale. I am doing a 9th scale Jaguar at the moment and I have gotten from the drawing board to a foam fuselage. if you want the scale airfoil, it is the NACA 65A-006. I think you'll want to slightly up scale the wing a little to increase the area, which is exactly what I am doing with mine. deffinitely use a pin contour gauge though, it's so simple and easier than using 3 views, especially knowing most are wrong. I did mine a from an Airfix 72 scale model, but I think a 48 or 32 scale would be a bit easier to measure from. Rich

RE: Sepecat Jaguar
I'm actually in the building process of a 1:9 scale Jaguar at the moment. just wondered if there's anything you can share about this. I am using the scale airfoil section, which is the NACA 65A-006, but scaling the outline up slightly to give a better wing loading. since I have no reference, except what I can do myself, can you share where the CG would be as a percentage of MAC? I would greatly appreciate anything you can offer me. thank you. Rich

RE: EDF reversing for air brakes
would it not be simpler and easier to just build a clam shell system for reversing thrust? it's very simple to build and only requires one servo per side to operate. you could do it on the inboard pods only , since that should be enough power to stop and/or reverse the plane, if that is your intention. if you want an idea of how to do it, fo to rcgroups and check out the DC9 (SAS livery) build thread and there's some very detailed pics and video on how to do it. they look cool and they work. not quite scale on this plane, but they will work.

RE: CONVERTING DUCTED GAS FAN TO EDF
you could also go with a Stumax fan or something from Tamjets. the Stumax fan has a lot of thrust for its size and sounds really cool too. it sounds a lot like a turbine.

GAD Jaguar Cof G
I just purchased a GAD Jaguar from one of our club members, but I didn't get any info with the jet. does anyone happen to know where the Cof G is on this plane..........either in mm/inches from leading edge or percentage of MAC? thanks for any info you can give me. Rich

RE: Sepecat Jaguar wing section
not sure how relevant this is anymore, but you could buy the model, preferably in 48 scale and buy a simple pin contour gauge. make your marks on the drawing for your bulkheads and then scale down to the model. press the pin guage on the model and transfer to paper, then translate to your scale. works every time.
