RE: MOKI RADIAL Care and Maintenence
Concur with above - replaced the #4 coil on a 250 even before the engine was mounted and flown on the plane. These sensitive componets are expected to survive in temps that reach 200F and subject to intense vibration ?????? Jaketab

RE: MOKI RADIAL Care and Maintenence
I tried to reseach the EU plugs and I too came down with a head ache. NGK CM-6 beside a Denso U20M-U. The base of the Denso plug reads " Denso Japan JK ++++ " Not sure I can detect that much difference in performance between the 2 plugs. The #3 cylinder may come up to temp and miss less with Denso - but it could be that I have the engine run in and turned better now. Why not just buy one of the $15.00 EU plugs and run it #3 problem child cylinder???? J Tab

Darryl, That 32 x 16 3-blade may work on my R3. Weight is about the same as your FW 190. If you get a chance for another video, would like to see (and hear) the sound of the 3 bland on your plane. It's all about the sound. Jaketab

RE: MOKI RADIAL Care and Maintenence
Darryl, Very nice. Wish I had your attention to detail. Maidened my Airworld Gee Bee R3 Air Racer Special last week. My first radial engine plane. Powered by Moki 250 and fuel pump. Temp was 95 F that day. Wingspang 118" and weight appx 54.5 lbs. Once trimmed, it flys well without a gyro. I was lucky to get back ground in one piece considering I have not flown in over 1 year. The 1st aborted landing attempt shows how easily the plane can stall. It has a 50oz fuel tank. Good for 15 minute flights with a little reserve. I did not want to chance the motor overheating. Installed 4 aluminum louver vents in the cowl. One on top and 3 on the bottom. When you stop the motor, the heat builds up in the cowl. Needs a place to escape. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xmDfLKluRCI&feature=youtu.be J Tab

RE: MOKI RADIAL Care and Maintenence
With regard to air leaks. I found my 250 was pulling air in from the carb intake gaskets on each side of the spacer block. This only occurred at higher rpm's. I used Permatex Hylomar Universal Blue to seal the gaskets. It's fuel proof. The engine tuned much better after the fix. Jaketab

Tim, The rocker screw nut is 3mm on my 250. The 5.5mm wrench fits good. The rocker arrm screws and nuts are getting worn from adjusting. I'd like to find a good cheap source for replacements. But in the Moki world there seems to be no such thing. Anybody got Moki rocker arm adjustment screws on sale ????? Jaketab

Hello Detlef, Thanks again many times for your responses. Just to make certain all are on the same page regarding valve adjustment, my instructions call for an adjustment range of .005 to .008 thousands - English Standard. If I convert to metric the range is .127 mm to .2032 mm. Is this correct????? Thank you - Jaketab

Stivvy, I have the older 2 line version of the APS 380. This is my plumbing set up regulated at 5.3v shared with the optic ignition cut off. This way you always have continous feed returning to the tank and don't have to worry about priming if you empty the tank. Jaketab

RE: MOKI RADIAL Care and Maintenence
Update, To keep all advised, I had a problem (posted previous) with #4 cylinder not firing on my yet to be air tested Moki 250. After some diagnosis with help of Bigdammodels, (Bill) the problem was either the #4 coil, wire, or resistor. Last week I replaced the #4 coil with a new one received from Airworld-Germany. Transit time was about 2 ½ weeks with overall cost of 44 Euro or 65 US. Over half the cost was shipping. I tested the plugs for spark with plugs installed in the boots outside the engine. Alas - #4 and all coils are arching electricity. It does appear that coils may fail, whether it be the coil itself, plug wire, or resistor in the boot. After reassembly and test run, #4 cylinder is back on track. When I re-assembled the motor, I used Permatex Hylomar Universal Blue to seal the O-Ring in the intake tube. I also used it to coat both the carb intake gaskets. Previous to the repair, the motor before could not be tuned rich on the high needle. I believe the cause was air leaking into the intake tube at higher rpm’s. Tuning the high needle now causes the engine to be responsive to both lean and rich settings. The high needle adjustment is now very responsive. Moral of the story - if you can’t get your Moki to run rich on the high needle adjustment, check the carb gaskets to make sure you are not pulling in air at higher rpm’s.

RE: MOKI RADIAL Care and Maintenence
While on the subject of the pulse air pump, the clear festo tube is cut and blocked on the carb side only. The pump side is left open. I run an APS fuel pump with good results. After about 1-1/2 gallons of running, I have not noticed any grease leaking from the air pump or tube. Question: Is it acceptable to see no grease at all leaking from the pump ?????? Thanks - Jaketab

RE: MOKI RADIAL Care and Maintenence
Reference to my #4 cylinder not firing, I discovered something today about the CDI. Not good with electronics, but I'll attempt to explain. Checked the 10 pins on the back of the CDI with an Ohm resistance meter in the K-scale. These were each tested against the center pin in the round quick connector. All pins read .000 to .010 thousands except for one pin. It read 22.66 thousands. The pin giving the higher reading was on the bottom row, 2nd pin from the right. In other words - one pin was different from the other nine. Could this mean anything??? Thanks - J Tab
