RE: German speed cup 2012
Thank you jamaicaman. I dont fly F3S but for my own enjoyment only. I am only at around 250-300 km/h zone with my plane with fixed landing gear and a canopy. Style is between a Spitfire and a Mustang. An oversized pylon plane that you can land and take off from the ground, my only electric plane. That 8x13 CF sounds very interesting. Only in combustion engine profile?

Where can I buy such props? I am currently using a selfmade 8,7x15" prop and would like props in that range or close to it. I saw that one photo here with carbon fiber props in a box and became very interested.

RE: MOKI RADIAL Care and Maintenence
Does the S 180 have the same outer diameter as the S150, 255mm? What about the 7-cyl models, what is the smallest outer diameter radial engine model from Moki available? And then the outrageous question; any plans of producing a twin-row radial?

Hello, I am interested in the 7-77 glow engine. If we are talking about 20 pounds and 80" ws with a good high pitch prop then what would you say about the 77' potential? The airframe is very aerodynamic.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
SrTelemaster, regarding the Moki conrod offset; the two opposite slave rod big end pin locations are closer to each other than the other pins on the same base circle. So all pistons have the same stroke, only two of the pistons move in slightly different "rhytm" than the other three.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
Did you know that Moki radial has the opposite to master slave rods offset closer to each other in 5-cyl radials? Reason for this in my opinion could be either to dampen certain harmonics or to increase the offbeat engine sound making it rattle more like the normal 1:1 size radials. A friend from our field with the 250cc version told me this fact today at the field. We speculated the reason there but could not be sure why that feature was built in.

SrTelemaster, can I have your telephone number? If you dont mind then send it to me via PM. Btw, what do you think about the new radial gasoline Saito? I think it was FG-84R3 (or 83) witg 83 or 84cc fill volume, 5,7hp and just over 3kg. The Youtube-video looked interesting. Not breathtaking but good anyway.

RE: OS .70FL carburetor adjustment
I would say that the problem is not related to prop because it dies up from idle trying to gain rpms. If the prop didnt have enough inertia to act as a flywheel then starting the engine would be a pain. Thats not the case here. Since this is a four stroke engine then have you checked all the bolts that they are tight? Like head bolts, intake, etc. What about valve lash, did you check that? Cracks anywhere on the cylinder sleeve area? Valves not stuck or binding? Compression test? Intake gasket ok? Fuel delivery problem? Tank, lines, etc. There are other possibilities too but start with these and report back.

RE: High power sport engine
Please remember that when you port a two stroke engine you will ALWAYS need to make the pipe accordingly to the new port timing. If you add duration to the exhaust your pipe needs changes. If you put a bigger carb for more rpms then your low to mid section will become a lot harder to tune. Porting matters but the soul of a 2-stroke is the pipe. I have done a lot of gasoline engines and pipes for rc-cars.

By the way, how would you chacterize the differences between Saito and OS? You prefer Saito clearly. I would like to know your insight to your preference. I am curious. I have (had) Saito, OS, Webra, Laser and few other brand of engines. And gasoline engines too but somehow I like nitro more with airplanes. Regarding rc-cars its gasoline all the way.

MIG-3 is the other top favourite together with Hughes racer. I will buy them both from Precision. You have helped me more than you know. I hope that someday we might get a chance to meet in person. Maybe not but you never know. FW190 is also a close contender on my list. So is Hawker Sea Fury. Outside warbirds Pitts Special is my favourite. I have two of them, both in top notch flying condition. Next runner-up is GP Little Toni. I have one NIB ready to be built with everything. That is for next summer.

I was very pleased to se that website for the list of kits. My other favourite was there too. SrTelemaster, you are extremely helpful.

Sr Telemaster, do you mind if I go back on my word. If you have dealt with Kitcutters before then it would be more beneficial if you asked them about the H-1. I just noticed that they are not selling kits now but plans only according to their website. I would need a full wood kit. Can I ask for your help on this?

RE: does such an animal exist?
I need to read what they really say about that ASP. Very good calculations. Actually now you "stole" one of my favourite things when starting to build new. That was your calculation :) I love that stuff. Im going to give the Kitcutters a call. I really appreciate your offer of contacting them for me but I dont want to load my stuff on you. Thank you. How has that Saito held up converted to gas? I was thinking of converting my OS FF-320 into gas but decided not to. When I rebuilt it I got assured that the engine block and bearings would not live too long. And actually I like nitro fuel and McDaniel system. Im using onboard glow in all my nitro engines. A truly proven combo, never failed even once.

RE: does such an animal exist?
That 28% sounds very good. If the smaller version only has max 230mm dia then I think I MIGHT gamble with ASP400 in that case. For me the 80" ws version is enough in size but if it severely limits the engine choices then I would be willing to go bigger. I contacted Kitcutters by email about the H-1 but no reply so far (mail sent day before yesterday).

RE: OS FF-320 pegasus
Very small displacement for a 4-cyl. I am keeping my eyes out for the upcoming 170cc Rotomotor 4-cyl gasser boxer. My FF-320 has performed very well in my Pitts. The engine is very touchy to correct tune, especially the low speed mixture. Once you get that right then it is a true screamer. Can handle even 10.000 rpms (mine did that in full throttle dive). I would not do that with an old engine as the valve spring loosen like in any four stroke engines. I rebuilt mine and also put in a new carb. Thank god the spare parts are well available.
