RE: miss geico no binding!
this happened to me with my brushless shockwave last week... could not figure it out for the life of me so i took it in to the local shop I have here in delaware... turned out it was a bad deans connector on the battery ..not sure if this helps, just thought i'd throw it out there.

I have had the proboat shockwave for 2 years now and really enjoy the boat... i am currently running 2s and have upgraded the esc to 120a so that it is now ready for the set up... its been a while since i've talked props with anyone and im a bit rusty on the details I used to remember.. I have a octura 3 blade on there now (not sure of the pitch)... currently, I gps'ed the boat at 48mph with my current set up which is fun... just looking for some more! so whicvh octura or grimracer proprs would guys recommend for the new 4s set up? thanks

HORRIBLE CRASH!.. what to do now!
Well.... im new to RC draging and today was the first day i took my megatech darkthunder out into a VERY LARGE, WIDE OPEN parking lot to get a couple runs in... and so the worst possible scenario happens.. throttle gets stuck.. WOT! .. it was a big parking lot.. but none of them are endless, of course... ANNNND she hit the curb at about 60mph...head on!! the front wing and front part of chassis are completely bent upwards. All other parts are intact (which is a miracle in itself). However, this car is discontinued so I was thinking... should I just get another chassis from one of the better known drag car companies? and swap my parts from the megatech over to the new chassis? I was looking at grandmotorsports.com, rccarkings.com, teamwalbern.com, and randersonengineering.com any opinions on any of these.. I purchased the megatech as my first dragster to get my feet wet with this particular style of RC.. however did expect to fall in and almost drown right away..lol help the newb out here guys! thanks, Jeff

I did this last week and still have not received any email?

A few questions regarding tunning.
Being new to this I have been having a few issues tunning my car. I know tuning these motors is an art in itself that developes with time and experiance, living in delaware its a little colder here now and my car has been bogging down when I give it throttle. Can anyone give me some assistance as to which way to adjust my air/fuel screw and my curb idle screw? Thanks so much, Jeff

Supercharging a motor?
Very interested in the concept of supercharging RC motors. I am very familiar with how they function on a normal vehicle, however, just was wondering if it had similar function on RC motors? Can any RC motor be supercharged? the reason im brining this up is becuase I recently bought a megatech dark thunder and noticed that RB innovations had a supercharger kit for it! does this actually function to the point where it is noticable?...cool concept either way..

Newbie to RC Drag
Hey guys, new to RC drag, however, have been around RC EVERYTHING my whole life, primarily having boats and a few cars. I used to drag my real truck, which was a trailblazer ss, until I coulld no longer afford to keep up with the contant repairs... THEREFORE i figured this was a much cheaper (relativly speaking of course) alternative to keep doing something I really enjoy! anyway.. I recently purchased a megatech darkthunder. I figured it was a good way for me to start and get the feel for things. When I first found out about RC drag racing I couldn't believe there were actually mini tracks, christmas trees, etc! glad to become a member of the RC drag community and looking forward to breaking things (already too familiar with that part so im good to go!) I am lost, however, in terms of having a place to run?? I live in northern DE and have never heard of anything around here.. but then again i've never really searched. Any ideas? Thanks, Jeff

IDEA: rc truck with trailer to haul dragster!
IM sure im not the first to have brought this up... Im new to the drag scene and have just purchased a slightly used megatech dark thunder to get familiar...not new to the rc scene however. I was thinking that it would be awesome to have an rc pick up truck or big rig with some sort of trailer (enclosed or flat bed) to haul the drag car. I realize this is out of the question for all of you 1/4 scale guys as you need a full size pick-up to take your cars anywhere lol... Tamiya has some really cool big rigs, as well as, their realisitc looking "high-lift" kit pick-up trucks... these however are WAY to much $$$ (for me at least).. bottom line.. just wondering if anyone has any experience or ideas in creating rc trucks with trailers to haul their dragsters... thanks.

Why does my drive shaft keep coming lose on my Shockwave 26?
Every time I put the boat in the water, i get to run like 2 mins before having to fetch the damn thing bc the driveshaft keeps coming lose. All I have to do to fix it is tighten the allen screws that keep coming lose that hold the shaft in the end of the motor, however, no sooner do i get them tightened do they losen up again. Would I be safe just putting some loctite on these two screws?

Almost lost my Shockwave Today!..video!
Took the boat out to the lake today, however, it was a bit windy and choppy....needless to say this is what NOT to do. The boat flipped and I spent 20 - 30 mins fishing it out with the old fishing pole and tennis ball...what a horrible experience. I really thought she was a goner. heres the vid: http://s800.photobucket.com/albums/yy284/jawzss/?action=view¤t=shortversionofboatflip.mp4

RE: Fried ESC in my new Shockwave. Owners must read.
ORIGINAL: sfwhiteside BTW, I do plan on running the pro-boat shockwave 26, and on a 3S 5400mah lipo, but, I will do research, research, research first with the right tools (infrared thermometer, load meter, rpm guage of some sort before I got into deep water (the marina near to me does not have easy access to shallow water, and with the EKOS, man o man did I learn that the hard way) in order to keep the fishing pole and tennis ball in the trunk of the car, instead of down by my feet as I worry about whether I will need it right away... [:D]. Most likely my set up will start off with the stock everything and try my hand with 2S 4000Mah Lipos that I use in my car for racing. Play around with the x's and o's of balance, props, and trim, then experiment with the 3S Lipo, and the Octura 427 (not sure I will go with the X or not as the X has 10% more pitch than the regular 427, (if they are even available, or will I have to custom order, or make one). If they work well and the internals don't get hot, then, and just maybe see if I can get my hands on an 427 3 blade, before moving up to something larger. At some point I will most likely look into some dedicated cooling for both the esc, and the motor independently through the bottom of the hull to assure myself (better to be safer then I was with the EKOS, with the shockwave. happy E-boating guys... I only wish that my pops was still around to enjoy it with me... [:(] it's all his fault anyway that i am addicted! LOL [:D]
Finally got things running fairly smoothly on the 2s set up, so now I think I am going to upset everything and move to 3s. With my 2s pack and octura 435- 3 blade my temps stayed well within range and I gps'ed the boat at 35mph, which isnt bad. Looking to get into the 40mph range so I am going to be going to 3s and dropping my prop size to a 427x.

sounds good..lets see some pics of her all finished!.. could you do that parts list for me as well when u get the time? I just got the same ESC as you i think..is it the Hobbywing 120a seaking? i just installed mine yesterday and took her out today for the first time since i fried my stock esc. I gps'ed the boat as well and got 34mph on only a 2s, thought that was pretty good. I will be ordering my 3s shortly. How was the install for the flex shaft? was it fairly simple?

i have the proboat shockwave and love it. i know you had initially ruled it out but it may be something you want to reconsider if you are looking for a single battery boat. It comes ready for 2s lipo packs but there is also upgrade availability. I personally am in the process of upgrading my esc so that I can run 3s.
