As soon as I got my used NEST I replaced the pull start with the roto and love it. I dont pull on any of my trucks. I either have the roto or use my bump box. I hate replacing one way bearings!

sheerider1026, no rush for me and I will certainly pay for the shipping costs both ways. I am still driving it and my other vehicles (at least until the snow starts to fly). So what more do you think I will get out of it after the porting? I am hoping for more speed for drag racing. When you are free PM me with your address info and we can make arrangements.

sheerider1026, I wish I had seen your request for an engine to use for pics earlier. I have just rebuilt my DTX, new rod, sleeve. Would you consider doing another sometime? I would like some extra speed/power out of it. We drag race for fun and I always lose to my nephew's Stampede.

RE: Anyone Own a RT-X 27?
The Buku pipe costs $119 US (free shipping). But if you consider that it is tuneable to whatever type of driving you are doing it is well worth the price. I noticed about a 20-25% increase all round and I havent spent a lot of time tuning it. Instead of having a pipe for low end power and another for top end this thing has a spring in it that adjusts a cone inside the pipe giving the widest possible power band for your engine. So in essence you have a faster truck. I didnt notice much difference in temps at all. I am putting one in all my trucks eventually. ANd by the way, Dave, the owner of the company, is easily reachable by email if you have any questions about tuning or using it. Check them out at www.bukupower.com

RE: Anyone Own a RT-X 27?
Thanks guys, after thinking about it a little I realized that oil was a bad idea, like you said it would just be flung onto the tranny walls. Hey ALFFA I got me 2 new trucks, a Thunder Tiger ST-1 and a Duratrax Evader. I am working on them now just cleaning them up and adding some new parts. I plan to get a Buku for the ST-1! Thanks for turning me onto those exhausts. Anyone else, if your looking for a great all round exhaust that fits any track/conditions then Buku is the way to go. It makes my RTX rock. I may get one for my Warhead also, but it is mainly just a basher so I will hold off on that. I will post some picks once I get them done.

Hey everyone. I got a new tranny for the RTX and I am wondering if I could/should put oil in it instead of the very small amount of grease they have in there. Thoughts anyone?

RE: Official Nitro Evader ST Thread v2.0
has anyone ever tried putting a .21 into an NEST? I just traded for a used truck (it hasnt arrived yet) and ordered the Aluminum spur gear and all the graphite parts. I have an Ofna Hyper .21 that I would like to try and get in there. Does anyone know if this will work or I am stuck with the .18 as the biggest engine. I want to race this thing against my brother's Thunder Tiger ST1 and doubt that .18 is gonna be any competition.

Hi all, I am thinking about getting an NEST and wonder if an Ofna .21 Turbo engine will fit into this truck. I have one laying around and thought I saw someone post in the forum that they installed a .21 in an Evader. Any thoughts? Needed mods to do this?

RE: Anyone Own a RT-X 27?
This sounds like EVERY Warhead or RTX with the stock engine. I pulled mine and installed an Axial . 28 into the RTX. My brother still runs his RTX stock and fights with temps all the time. Some days are better than others. I just recently installed my stock engine into a Warhead roller I bought on here. I sealed it just prior to removing it from the RTX and didnt run it too much since then. In the Warhead I installed a big Ofna cooling head, and I am using a Motor Saver air filter. I was only able to run 1 tank through it because the one way bearing is now stripped (another problem both my brother and I have with this truck). The temps were around 210-220 on that one tank which is very good for this engine. I also had a similar experience with the smoking engine prior to sealing it, except mine was reading around 400 or more, the exact number escapes me right now! Didnt seem to hurt it but not something I want to repeat. I wont know how much better it is until I get the new bearing from Tower and can run it a bit more. Whatever the issue is with these engines and temps I think the trick is to tune it very carefully. The slightest turn can make a big difference. Please post Customer Service's findings as I think we all would like to know what they think about so many hot engines and how to fix them.

I am trying to figure out how to remove the reverse from my Warhead as well. What is involved? So far I have the servo and arm out but the metal slider is still there. Do I have to completely remove the tranny and open it up to get that out of there?

RE: Anyone Own a RT-X 27?
Thanks for the help guys. I found a set of RTX CVDs on ebay. $60 for 4. Saves me having to buy replacement cvds and new tires and rims. The ones from the truck had seen better days and the glue was letting go. Not sure how bright I am for buying another one of these things...but I like a challenge. Gonna put that ST engine in the Warhead and see what happens.

Hey guys, just bought a used Warhead for my son (a little project for me too) and I am wondering if anyone knows of an adapter to allow the use of my 17mm RTX wheels on the 14mm Warhead. I have 5 sets of mounted wheels for my RTX and dont want to invest any money in more tires and rims. Help would be appreciated.

RE: Anyone Own a RT-X 27?
yes using stock radio, my Spectrum had a problem, sent it back and now they are on back order. The steering seems to be ok but I do recall lengthening the throw between the servo horn and the linkage. Could that have done it? As for the pipe, it rocks. I still have some fine tuning but you can see if you watch the video that it adds power for sure, I had to hold back because I was missing corners

RE: Anyone Own a RT-X 27?
Gee it has been awful quiet in here this weekend, hopefully all were out racing or bashing. I was out at the Bardis Speedway with the other Bardis Bashers. Here is some video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gHdXIWOLPgA Grasshopper got home too late from work so he couldnt get out his buggy and Jason was off to a wedding. So my brother had his stock RTX out against my Axial RTX Bug. I have to say that his truck is fast once it heats up but he still struggles with high temps. The Buku pipe I installed has not been fully tuned but you can see in the video that it adds about 25% more power to the .28 Axial. I had to cut back on the throttle a lot because my steering servo horn was stripping and I was losing steering. I didnt realize it until I finally lost it into the rhubarb! I will be upgrading to an aluminum servo horn, I guess the 202oz steering servo I installed is a little stronger than I thought.

RE: Anyone Own a RT-X 27?
Thanks OddsNends, the VW body is different but was fun to do for my first try at a body. As for parts cracking well lets see, the front skid plate both corners that screw into the chassis, the front and rear diff covers, and a couple areas seem to have hairline cracks near screw points. I think they should give us 2 trucks when we buy these, one to drive and one for parts! I am off to race my brother and some buddies tomorrow, will take some vid and post later on

RE: Anyone Own a RT-X 27?
I hear ya about the motor. I gave up and installed an Axial .28 Many of us are running Axial .28 or higher, OS, LRP. Take your pick! On another note has anyone else experienced a lot of cracks and breaks with their trucks? I gave mine a good going over and found many parts that have cracked or just broken. I havent hardly drove mine yet and I sure havent bashed it hard enough to have so many cracks. If I sent them all in I wouldnt have a truck left. I also noticed my front right diff is leaking a small amount of oil. My brother's is leaking in the same spot on his RTX as well. Normal??

RE: Anyone Own a RT-X 27?
Hey all I took the truck out with the buku pipe on it today and after following the initial setup I was running at about 230 - 240 temps. I started to tune the pipe's tension spring and noticed that the temps went up slightly to about 265. Is that a safe temp for the Axial .28? I still have lots of smoke so I am not sure. Anyone have any ideas?

RE: Anyone Own a RT-X 27?
thanks Alffa , I used an anodized auto paint on the chassis and then a clear coat. The nitro ate some of it up but it still looks good. It was that darn leaky Super Tiger engine. Readster I have an Axial .28 in it now and a Buku pipe installed (many thanks to Alffa for stearing me in that direction). I am just going out to test and tune after this post.

RE: Anyone Own a RT-X 27?
Hey Readster, put me down for one of these skid plates off of the first run. Mine are smoked and I cant drive my truck at the moment. I am using the down time to make my first body project. I am turning the RTX into a Baja Bug. Got the body cut out and my color scheme chosen, just looking at paint ideas. I need to rework the body mount posts with longer option parts as the stock are way too short. Once I have the paint job done I will post some pics to see what y'all think. I am also installing the Buku pipe I bought, but cant really drive it hard because of the damaged skid plates. I wonder if Duratrax has them in stock yet?

Geez look what I started by complaining and asking one simply little question about my busted skid plate (see my post #971 pg 39) A whole new industry of upgrades will be born for the Warhead/RTX LOL I am in too, I am so disappointed with Duratrax and Tower that I would give my money to anyone else first :) Alffa, my Buku should be here by weeks end, as long as customs doesnt hold it up. I cant wait to try it out.
