RE: Extreme Flight Vanquish 2m Build Thread
Dana, Would you please expand on the throttle curve and include throttle end points mentioned much earlier in this thread. Or point me to a site that explains its use for pattern flying. My apologies for asking this in a build thread but its been on my mind for months and this is the only place I've seen it mentioned. Thanks, J e r

RE: TOC Laser
Shawn, Nice work, I'm impressed by your edge. How do you cut it so straight and smooth? Do you use guides on top and bottom to get it symmetrical? Also, where do you get the control horns? I took the liberty of including a pix of my Ulery Laser fuse, its the 98 incher Dave Brown flew at the '82 TOC. I'll be using the cowl you sent on it and have to say you build light cowls. Again, nice work. J e r Sorry guys, I can't include the pix via Insert/Edit image. I need a buddy box and directions. Please help.

RE: TOC Laser
Shawn, This thread started on 1980 TOC Laser 200 by Ulery moved here at your request. The cowl dimensions look good, the wheel pants are slightly smaller than plans call for but I can live with it. Name your terms and let's get an agreement on the cowl, pants and canopy. I'll also need the CF gear and spinner. You're a great help and I appreciate your time, J e r

RE: 1980 TOC Laser 200 by Ulery
speedracerntrixie, The cowl I need is 13 1/4" long and at the rear is 7" wide and 10 1/2" high. I appreciate your prompt response and apologize for not knowing your proper name. To further clarify my specs on this model I lean to the scale side as opposed to 3D i.e. I won't put oversize ailerons on it and it will have a clear canopy and pilot. After seeing Leo's original I find I'll need an appropriate spinner also. My thanks to you and this forum. Its a big help finding you all. RE: 1980 TOC Laser 200 by Ulery
Mike, I attended a TOC but cannot remember its date and I have a ton of pictures. The TOC I attended had Hanno Prettner winning with a huge Dalotel powered by a twin gear driven unit. Dave Brown placed second with Wayne's Laser powered by a Tartan twin. Dave's anti-rotation pin had a problem that caused his incidence to change on that one wing. Its a tribute to his piloting skill that he was able to place at all. Let me know if this is your year and I'll get you copies of the picture(s) you want. Now my motive. I've been scouring the forums looking for the cowl, pants and canopy to fit Wayne's 98.25" wing span Laser. Fibreglass specialties produces them for the smaller version that Dean flew; they don't fit the 98.25". Do you know where I can purchase them for the 98" model? I've also come across a 120" span Laser by Jack Strickland. The plans, cowl etc. were produced by devin.york@sympatico.ca but he's never responded to my emails. I'd build this version if I could get the plans, cowl etc. Do you know of another source? Thanks for your time, I look forward to hear from you, J e r Jer Milosek milosek@localnet.com

RE: PA Thrust40 motor
According to the instructions provided by Precisionaerobatics and I quote, "DO NOT under any circumstances enlarge/modify the pre-drilled firewall to try an accomodate the c-clip and brass spacer. Modification may result in motor box failure and will void warranty." This quote "the motor departed the plane in flight:" is from http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1024897 If you read http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=917213&page=300 you will see jefierro write "I did climb high started to do a blender but just after 2 or 3 turns the motor mount just exploded in mid air". You will find many more entries telling about motor mount problems. Take the time to read the entire thread and then tell me if you think there's a serious problem with PA's Ultimate motor mount. I think you are taking a very serious risk if you have an PA Thrust 40 powered Ultimate and will ultimately pay the "Ultimate" price.

RE: PA Thrust40 motor
Dr. Kiwi, Precisionaerobatics tells you to do this in their assembly instructions for their Ultimate. I think they have an interference issue between the motor and the plywood front mount. Its the only motor I have that requires a manufacturer's specified modification. None of my Hackers, Axi's or Turnigy's require mods, they are all good to go right out of the box. Do you have a Thrust motor or Ultimate? And if so, how do they perform? J e r

RE: PA Thrust40 motor
Thanks fo the reply. Consider this: you've just topped out of a hammerhead stall, throttle is at minimum and the craft is heading down. All the force is pushing the prop back into the motor, its no longer pulling the plane. Then after levelling the craft, you gun it, the prop starts pulling again and WHAM! the rotor and shaft are slammed forward. This is just one instance, it happens every time you change throttle. Props moving to and fro isn't good, from my perspective anyway. J e r

PA Thrust40 motor
PrecisionAerobatics ships this motor as part of their IPA Ultimate package. Assembly instructions for the aircraft tell you to remove the C-clip and brass washer on the motor's shaft. DO NOT ENLARGE THE HOLE IN THE MOTOR MOUNT. My problem is after removing the C-clip and washer the motor falls apart. There is nothing that keeps the rotor and shaft from simply sliding out the back end. If the motor is installed in an airplane after following the directions, the prop will move fore and aft around 1/4 " being held by the front ply mount. This is too much play for me, it'll destroy the airplane. What's the fix? Thanks, J e r
