ORIGINAL: Erik R
ORIGINAL: Adil Nasim
ORIGINAL: Erik R Or maybe you on installing bandit flap hinges with bubble gum? [8D]
eh... what difference is that going to make.. the way you fly, your planes never last more than 2 flights anyways...[:D] I am planning on going this year. been itching to get back into flying (as long as I can remember how to).. does Futaba still make Radio's?/
That's it!! Gloves are off!! Firebird and Bobcat have lasted all season, still going strong!!Bobcat's even gone offroading, and had a fight with a safety fence!!
Erik and Alan, to answer your question Adil did forget how to fly, I was able to get him on the buddy box with a bobcat and look how relaxed he is now. All I had to do was reward him with a banana. While it is miricale of god that Eriks planes lasted all season because we all know Alan uses that cheap goverment cheese epoxy, Adil should keep his mouth shut because his plane was built with Elmers glue.

RE: JetCat 180rx
Different compressor, ngv, combustion chamber, egv and wheel not to mention more fuel. Dont know how the 180 spools as I dont have any yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Im sure there close. We are all so concerned about how fast they spool, truth is there all very close and where getting spoiled, some of my first turbines you could nail the throttle and go get a cup of coffee and not miss anything, you actually had to be a head of your airplane. New guys today dont know how good they have and how far these motors have come in a short time.

RE: JetCat 180rx
There is no issue with the 180 RX combustion chamber as is, there fine. Problem is that the other mods like the mod to the rear oiler are causing the combustion chamber to be moded or replaced . Big difference between 140 and 180 totally different internals 140 run like clocks!!!!

RE: JetCat 180rx
Its is under the hood, they took the stock pump and milled the corner off it, they also have the solenoids under the cover as well. The trick is the new software and the bubble detection feature they have come up with for priming since now you cant see the pump.I know how its supposed to work and sounds good on paper but Ill be running it on the test stand first!

RE: JetCat 180rx
Been waiting since January myself, it usually ends up being worth the wait. JetCat Germany seems to have the best technology when it comes to turbines but you would think that they could make a clock that actually keeps the same time where on or a calendar whos months are the same as ours, not the fantasy land time there on.

RE: JetCat 180rx
Its more than just a bad wheel, the NGV needs to be opened up to let more oil flow to the rear bearing and the combustion chamber needs modification or exchange. I think Jetcat USA has contacted all P180 owners to advise them to send there motors in for the upgrades. The good news is that the 180 rx will start shipping the end of September. I have had several on order since January and am glad to see that this motor has finally been sorted out.

RE: JetCat P90 RXI
ORIGINAL: schroedm So the 180RXI has the pump INSIDE the turbine? That's a big lump to fit inside! Where would it go? Or are they using the turbine itself somehow to act as a pump?.... And if it's true, thanks for changing it so soon Jetcat! [&:]
My understanding is that its supposed to be field serviceable so that to me says its got to be under the deckel cover. Im only guessing but I think by putting the pump closer to the fuel needles, JetCat is able to get better response and control out of the motor. I would not be surprised if the pump and solenoids are all one unit mounted to the front board on motor. I guess we will all find out once jet power rolls around or if Dave spills what he knows!

RE: JetCat P90 RXI
As far as RXI its true. Dont know for sure about a 90 But I do know the P 180s are going to be RXI with the internal fuel pump. Wish I was going to Jet Power looks like JetCat has some interesting changes in the works. I dont think a P 90 would kill the 100 prodution as the 100 has a size and wieght advantage.

RE: WHY GO EDF IF YOU HAVE TURBINES?
Matt, I have both ,EDFs are just another fix for our jet addictions.I been flying BVM edfs for two years now and while they dont have the punch of a turbine, they fly just as good. You can put the BVM electra in the back of a fullsize SUV with the wings on and just go fly, very little support equipment ect. I think your going to see alot more of them because there more people are flying electric trainers and aerobatic planes, some of them may have never owned a glow engine so edf is just a logical next step. I think for the newbie there less intimidating than a turbine for a first jet. I wish the where around when I was flying going for my waiver, I still have nightmares about glow powered ducted fans!

dont use brake fluid it will eat the seals, rc car shock oil or maybe 5w or 10 w hydraulic oil may work.

RE: BVM F-16
Im sure the P 100 will fit , I have seen p80s in these airframes so a 100 should be no problem. Your problem will be fuel, I have one with a functional center belly tank and may just drop a p100 in it.Its going to get small real fast! I saw sams fly at Hamburg this past weekend and it was looking good.

RE: Question for P100-RX Owners
Im only passing on as to what Bob told me. Turbine wheels are cast, not machined out of billet of material. Bob told me they have a fixture and a tool to re-pitch the wheel. Why dont you call him Im sure he would be happy to explain it. The nut shell version of what is being done is to use more of the thrust from the enging to drive the turbine faster at a given fuel setting to force more air into the combustion chamber to offset what is being lost to to the high humidity.Being that are engines are single shaft turbines when the turbine wheeel spins faster so does the compressor on the front of the motor. The result is more air with the same amount of fuel.
ORIGINAL: trioval00   night flying gone wrong......  Not sure if the two pic's are from the same flight......
Mark, I tripped and fell over an abominable jet monkey.(Jet monkeys are indigenous to northern NJ but have been know to migrate to eastern PA in search of free kero and a trailer to sleep under) You have to watch out for the jet monkeys they are low too the ground and sneaky. As for the woman in the pic with the night vapor stuck in her hair, I had nothing to do with that but I did cut it free. Your going to ask John how he managed to get it stuck, may have been getting dual instruction from Jim!
