I have my Skymaster F-4 for around 5 years now it really flies very well and from all the jets I have owned it is the only one I have never sold. Rock solid, easy to fly, no bad tendencies... a denfinetly winner... http://www.youtube.com/user/jetsrc?feature=mhee#p/u/12/SjXLGdyDToM

Congrats Gonzalo, your A-10 flew really great. It was a pleasure helping you prepare and maiden the jet and I thank you for your kind words. Best part of all our group in Chile is that we are all good friends, we are always there to help eachother and we have a lot of fun...[:D] Michel

RE: Skymaster 1:6 A10 Build
Thanks for the info Al, I will take a look on my A-10 to check this out... Yesterday I tested the A-10 with all missiles and bombs on and took it for a very nice flight. It was quite windy and the A-10 was actually very stable considerring the wind and all the ordnance. The flight had no surprises, I did had tu teim up a bit the jet for staright flight but that was it. Landing was great, on the first aproach I lowered power a bit and boy this A-10 has a lot of drag with all the missiles and bombs on, it just dropped very quickly, luckily my 2 JC Cheetahs came in right away and I was back on spped inmediately. DFid a go around and this time came a bit higher with a b it more power... The A-10 came in very nicely and stable, no bad habits and it landed very smoothly... Very nice!!!! In terms of weight I did not weighted the missiles but I found out that in flight not much more power was needed and the A-10 flew very well... Here is a small video of the landing... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cU4qHh6nZ5g Michel

RE: Skymaster 1:6 A10 Build
Hi Mark, sorry I haven't weighted mine... The ordnance does not seem particularly heavy to me, I will try to weight it next weekend and see how much more weight it puts on the jet. In general with this turbines (cheetahs) the A-10 definetly is overpower. 80% of the flight is done at half power or a bit more and full power is only used for takeoff and for big verticals Anyway I will try to weight the ordinance alone and I will see what happens... RE: Skymaster 1:6 A10 Build
Yes it does come down when I push hard on elevator for some manouvers, mostly when I go up for a vertical, in rolls and other manouvers I haven't noticed this problem. It doesn't really bother me that much and I am still thinking if I want the modification Skymaster did for solving this problem. From one side it is kind of relaxing knowing that if the air goes out the landing gear will just drop and lock into position...[:D] Form the other side we all want out models to be perfect...[:D] so I still do not really know if I will install the mod or not... For now I will keep flying as it is...

RE: Skymaster 1:6 A10 Build
Gonzalo, thanks for the promo...[;)] Ali, give us a video... I do my best with my videos but we all want to see you fly this bird...[:D][:D][:D] Anyway just got a bit more flying this weekend on the A-10, I just keep loving it more and more on each fly I make. I haven't tested it with full ordinance as Ali did so I am not sure how mine will work but I hope to try out next weekend... When you get to know the A-10 a bit more you find out that the landings are really a great experiense, it has a great mix of floating and drag, which make landings very confortable. In flight I have tested most regular manouvers and it does everything great, rolls, inverted, cuban eights, etc... all are done great, for a scale model of course... Knife edge flight is impressive as very little rudder is needed to keep it level, but you do need to play with ailerons and elevator to keep it straight... I am sure this model is originaly not intended for this type of things...[;)] Here are a few more pics of last weekend... Michel

RE: Skymaster 1:6 A10 Build
Mark, yes I installed the stock pipes on the jet, no problems so far. There is a very slight pitch change when you go from mid power to full power, but I tend to think this is because the overpower on the jet. I have installed two cheetahs with 31lbs of thrust. In level flight I only have to go to half power for normal flight so I have a lot of extra power when I go full power, the pitch change is noticeable on full power only and on a low and level pass. Anyway the change is very small and most pilots will not even notice it. Also I am not sure if this pitch change will be noticed if you have a smaller turbine. But I prefer to have that slight pitch change and have all that extra power for verticals...[:D] Now in terms of general flying, the jet is amazing, it fly's so nice and predictable, it is very stable... All aerobatics are posible with this one... I tested air brakes on the air and the A-10 had no change in attitude, kept being stable. You add flaps and it is even better, it just seems to sit in the air, it is amazing how slow this jet can go. In my prsonal opinion this is really a winner, the jet comes painted like no other brand, it is very scale with rivets, panel lines and antennas, the landing gear is just simply incredible, the cockpit is amazing and to add to all this the flying characteristics are excelent... It is definetly a winner and I am sure that anyone who gets one will be very happy with it... Michel

RE: Skymaster A-10?...........
I did the maiden on mine this Friday, it took our builder 3 weeks to have it ready to fly. The jet fly's awesome, very stabe and predictable. Also the scale detail on this A-10 is impressive, Skymaster went one step ahead on this model...[:D] Anyone thinking of getting one will not be disapointed. RE: Skymaster 1:6 A10 Build
Thanks guys, the jet is a lot of fun to fly. Gonzalo, I used the standard pipe, no problems so far. Regarding some settings: CG 145, I heard that 150 was a bit tail heavy so I went a bit forward. The jet flew very nice like this and I intend to leave it here. It is very stable and confortable on landing. On throws I went with SM recomendations, but too much for my taste on ailerons so I lowered that a bit. For expos I used 35% more or less, this depends a lot on personal preference. Remember on Futaba radios this is -35% For flaps I went as much as what the servo with a 2" arm will give me. I found that when aplying flaps te jet floats very nice with no strange things. After a 6 minute flight I still have about 1/3 of fuel in the tanks. I will probably go for 7 minutes in the future... for now 6 minutes leaves me with enough fuel to have a few go arounds until I get used to the A-10. With the 2 cheetahs power managment is important, the jet as a lot of extra power with this 2 turbines so if you go this way be sure not to go on full throttle all the time...[:D] Next step is flying with all bombs on...[;)] I just updated the video with some extra footage and the correct aspect ratio... check it out... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FiiwMmEcsWI Michel

RE: Skymaster 1:6 A10 Build
Hi guys, ok this Friday I did the maiden of my A-10, did a couple of flights and today a few more. Wow this jet is amazing, very impressive in the air and it fly's very well. I installed 2 cheetah's for power, this is more than enough, regular flight needed only half power and I only went full power on big verticals. CG I went with 145mm, at this point it flew very stable and it was a no issue on stalls on specially on landing, it was rock solid. IN general a great jet, I just love it and I am sure I will have some great fun with this one. Here is a video, it is a preliminary and the aspect is all wrong but it gives the idea on todays flight, later I will post a better one. On thing to keep in mind. The elevators need to be slightly up to level flight and the recomended travel on the ailerons y too much and the A-10 is too sensitive on this value, just put a little less. RE: Which F-4?
I have been flying the Skymaster F-4 for more than 4 years now with hundreds of filghts, and I just don't stop having fun with it. Very stable, excelent stall handling and it is rock solid in the air. Landing is awesome, very controled and predictable. Scale is awesome with all type of details and also as usual paint job from Skymaster is in my opinion the best there is on an ARF. Landing gear and breaks are impresive, they has never failed in 4 years and I haven't done any type of maintenance or modification. I even smashed a bird one with my F-4 at full speed on a low pass and the F-4 didn't even move after the impact and came to a perfect landing. Michel
