RE: BAD weather meeting...in Bankrupted Cyprus!!
Hi guys. I am still alive & kicking. What lousy weather we have had this year. However, I will be complaining about the 40c heat & high humidity over the next few months. I hope to be at Kotsiatis on Saturday with the Mig 29, if it's not blowing a gale.

RE: Jetpower 2012
ORIGINAL: Carbon-Customs heres my view of the event. i too like Dave noticed the lack of ''sold'' signs on the displayed models. but i would like to say that i think its wrong that the makers of the less quality jets thinks they are BVM, no wonder a firm like skymaster cant sell their jets as easy as before. i lost my skymaster large bae hawk 6 months ago (my own fault, but i got the see the wings inside) and i was really not pleased with the construction quality, but the price is almost BVM like :( the show like the bishop guys are the bomb. it it really awesome :) i REALLY miss the superscale planes, like the YAK 130 and the MIG 27, haralds Su27 and so on, there was almost only kit planes this year, i was quite disapointed, i also hoped to see the english giant hawk ;) this was also the first time i saw that some stands wassent used, simply emty spaces. (1-2 places) this evening night show, they shold get rid of the high volume of 3D helis, they simply sux ;) try to fly som jets instead? the dealers had a nice range of stuff, and jetcat were really kicking ass this year, i got myself a new Jetcat P300 all in all the show were great, ill be there again next year. -Kasper H
I did not go to JP this year. The prices of jets & associated products are now far to expensive. As you say, Skymaster & many of the other Asian manufacturers are pricing themselves out of the market. If the industry does not adapt to the average jet fliers economic situation, then it will contract, with only companies willing to supply products at affordable prices remaining. There will always be a market for high quality, high end large jets, but that is a niche market.

RE: UAT full, but the turbine flamed out....
Re removing the fuel shut off valve. I have two turbines that if you do not shut off this valve when re-fueling, the turbine floods with fuel & when a start is made, the turbine erupts in flames. Yet, other turbines of the same make, do not do this. Just be careful your turbine does not flood with fuel, if you remove the shut off valve.

RE: Jetpower 2012
I will be back. I just got fed up seeing the same jets, the same stalls, all in the same position, selling the same gear, year after year. Have fun. Hope it doesn't rain to much[:D].

RE: anyone know this jet or seller?
I would only buy it if I lived nearby & could pick it up. Could be a steal at a cheap price. I once bought a new Jetcat P160 on E-Bay for $1,500. It came from Indonesia. Maybe I was lucky.

It's all you scratch my back & I'll scratch yours. The product manufacturer is unlikely to take out that full page advert, if everyone is told his product is useless.

RE: CARF Flash pricing
Or, it could be the Cypriot logic. If sales fall, then put up the price, so you make the same profit. Don't ask why, but it's what happens here.

Send an e-mail to Gaspar at Merlin. He answers within a few hours, sometimes immediately. You will then get the factory settings.

RE: Bad boy Lipo charger poll
A few years ago when lipos were fairly new on the scene, when one puffed up, some of the gung ho types used to deliberately short them out to see what would happen. In the many such events I saw, there was lots of smoke & noise, but none ever erupted in flame. not saying it doesn't happen, just my experience.

RE: which plane for Merlin140
I had a Merlin 140 in my classic Flash for some time & it was ballistic. Vertical speed was just as fast as downward. I found that 10mm up & down on the ailerons was more than enough at the high speeds.

Poll does not work for me! I always charge batteries in the model, as I tend to fix them in position with silicone. With lipos, I am usually nearby to keep an eye on them. Never had any problems.

RE: Having crate shipped from UK.. How ?
Hi Ali. yes it has got very expensive to ship from the UK. I got a massive box containing a Bearcat to fit a Moki 150 Radial, shipped from France to Cyprus for 80 Euros, & an Aviation design Phoenix for 75 Euros.

RE: Having crate shipped from UK.. How ?
Here in Cyprus we find shipping from the UK is getting too expensive. I can ship a large model from France for a quarter of what it costs from the UK. I see Al's hobbies has the Turbinator in stock, so am waiting to hear what the shipping is likely to be.

RE: Brakes, lube or no lube, flatspotting tires, etc
I also like using the spring switch for brakes. Easy one finger use. Unfortunately my new JR 11x Tx has no spring loaded switches, so I had to revert to down elevator braking, which I find is the next best method.

RE: Aviation Design still selling jets?
Eric told me end of last year, due to unsatisfactory quality coming from their South american factory, they were changing the manufacturer. He said at that time, it would be around May before production resumed. I haven't heard any more news. Hopefully all is well.

RE: Maj. Woody's Fei Bao L-39
ORIGINAL: wearypanda <span style=''font-size: medium; ''>WARNING - Please very carefully check the integrity of your L39 fuselage where the retaining bolt passes through. Last weekend I lost my lovely Global Jets Fai Bao L39 just three minutes into its 12th flight when the wing detached from the rest of the airframe during a gentle wing over. The fuselage structure broke away where the wing retaining bolt goes through. The recovered wing still had the bolt in with fuselage skin and ply attached where it had broken away.  The plane was a total loss apart from the turbine which I think can be repaired. The only mechanical or electronics to survive were on the detached wing! I am not trying to point the finger at the manufacturer, but they have of course suggested that the failure was due to overstressing of the airframe before this flight. There is no way of proving this one way or the other, but I do not believe that this failure was caused by any hard landings or mishandling. In the first few flights there were a couple of 'firm' arrivals but nothing hard enough to do any damage whatsoever to the undercarriage and they were quite a lot less abrupt than some of Dom's early arrivals.  I would hate anyone else to suffer the same loss, so if you own a FBJ L39, of perhaps any FBJ plane, please do what you can to check and perhaps reinforce the fuselage.  Andrew
I thought the whole idea of buying a Global jet club model was, they checked, reinforced & upgraded the jet to ensure failures of your type were eliminated? Or is the Fei Bao model just sold as it comes from the factory?
