RE: SYSSA 30CC GAS MADE IN USA
Al thanks for the information. I did have a low speed stall that required a new fuselage to repair, perhaps that was the "Less than graceful landing" you spoke of. The symptoms you list are what I am experiencing. The engine will start and die then pop, turning the engine backwards. I'll tear the cap off an old ignition to see what is inside the cap and how it is attached. Thanks!

RE: SYSSA 30CC GAS MADE IN USA
Al, It's hard to remember, I did have some rough landings last year, have not had much flying time on the Stearman this season. I am running a 4.8 V 2700 mAH battery with one of Syssa's IBEC's. If a dirty boot is the issue, what should I be looking for? If I have a nose over should I pull the boot and wipe / blow it out? We are flying off of a grass field. Thanks

RE: SYSSA 30CC GAS MADE IN USA
Question, I am replacing my ignition module for the third time. Is anyone else having trouble keeping the module from failing? I am flying a Great Planes Super Stearman with the module mounted to the firewall above the carburetor could this be a heat issue? the engine does not run hot. Thanks!

Dan, I agree, I'd really like to hear the Evolution 7-77 running. This is the gasoline engine correct?

I think you have to have one of those high powered memberships (not basic) to have more than a limited number of characters in your signature.

RE: SYSSA 30CC GAS MADE IN USA
Hobbyman, For what it is worth, I had issues with my Syssa, got where it would quit after about 5 minutes flying time. On the ground it would restart, sound fine. The engine also got hard to start and appeared to run hot. I replaced the RCEXELL. module, problem solved. One flip starts are the norm (again). If you can get your hands on one, try replacing the ignition module.

RE: GP Super Stearman
Jim Vertical is pretty good, I am running a wood 17 X 8 Master Airscrew or Zinger, the Zoar requires cutting the spinner opening to clear and I have not modified mine it took to much effort to balance it. I fly it in a scale fashion, but it is nice to have that extra power.

Jim, I have to agree the Syssa is one sweet engine, I have one in my GP Super Stearman also and love the way it flies! I have a new Syssa waiting for the 1/5 scale WACO when I get it completed.

I purchased "Stay Brite" silver solder from a refrigeration supply house. It was fairly expensive, but works real well. Be sure to get the proper flux when you purchase your solder.

RE: WACO YMF
Jim, The gear from Sierra was never produced, as far as I know, a prototype was never built. There are no "instructions" per se on the adjustable stab. I did post some pictures of mine, and I think Dan (mrdhud) and Robert (ACERC) built their planes with Bills adjustable stab. Between us you should be able to add the adjustable stab to your plane. It will be much easier to plan

RE: WACO YMF
A Saito 150 is about the same displacement as the RCGF 26, if memory serves me correctly, the RCGF has rear induction and beam mounts. If so, it would be a nice replacement at about half the cost. Robert can you confirm?

RE: WACO YMF
Ron, is your plane the 60" wingspan or 72" ? At 13.5 lbs, it might be OK with the DLE 20. The only issue with the DLE 30 is it mounts with stand offs which could require rework of the firewall. Do you know what the plane was flown with orginally?

I have to agree, these Pica kits can fetch unreal prices, that is why a lot of these fellows are cutting their own. If time is a consideration, the GP ARF may be the way to go.

Catflyer, I think the later kits had some inprovements, over the earlier one. I'd go for it if it is NIB.

Looking at the box, the kit up for sale is one of Pica's later releases, it has the 45 page manual, 2 pages of plans and ABS wing fairings and landing gear cuffs.
