RE: A tutorial on Selling on RCU
Hi Pete, Pretty good list. Hope you don't mind, but I reformatted it to be a little bit easier to read. :-) ...jim [ul][*] Never trash someones ad. [*] If you don't have some thing nice to say, say nothing. [*] Always post a picture of the item for sale. [*] Always give a full description of the item for sale. [ul][*] [*] Quantity [*] [*] Condition (don"t lie) [*] [*] Reason for selling. Example: "I've moved up." [/ul][*] When some one has something for sale, do a search: [ul][*] [*] Their profile [*] [*] Their rating [*] [*] Their recent posts [*] [*] Their location [*] [*] Their terms of sale [*] [*] Their shipping method [*] [*] What is the actual cost new [/ul][*] Don't make a low ball offer. A fair price is usually no lower than 50 % of the new price. [*] Make your offer using the shoppers control panel [*] If your offer is refused, make another offer [*] The seller has the right to pick which ever offer he desires. The first come first served rule has no place in sales. [*] When an offer is accepted, send a invoice. [*] If sending a money order, etc. to the seller, I always like to email the seller a pic of the MO. [*] When mailing the item sold, I always email the buyer a pic of the item, just before mailed. [*] When you receive the item: [ul][*] [*] Examine it, immediately. [*] [*] Notify the seller that you received the item. [/ul][*] And lastly, rate the seller/buyer [/ul]

My winter project.
Howdy all! Here's a preview of my winter project. So far, I've got the stabilators installed and functioning. All control surface servos and horns installed (but no linkage yet). Wing anti-rotation dowels installed. Hatches pinned and latched. And speed brake installed and operational. And, of course, a pic of what will be moving it. Later! ...jim

Rick, Erik and the rest of the Farview Flyers gang, Big thanks from Ann and me for a wonderful time. I know I had a blast, particularly Friday night. We'll be back next year if I can get my crap together and make the switch to 2.4ghz. ;-) I really should get rid of the chrome fishing pole. Regards, ...jim

RE: Has this ever happened to anyone?
Hi Pete, Was good to see you this past weekend. An interesting thing happened to me during one of my landings with my Reaction. During the flight, a gentleman (who's name I'll not mention as it is not relevant) who is also flying a Reaction but having a devil of a time landing it, asked if I could verbalize what I was doing during my landing. I obliged and made one the best landings I've done on that plane in a while. Try saying out loud, even if it is just to your spotter, what you are doing during the entire landing sequence from dropping the gear to rollout on the runway. It may help you concentrate a bit more on the landing itself. ...jim

RE: Minnesota Jet Rally 2009
Hi Dave, thanks for the invite, but we've just done our shopping and have BBQ stuff for the next couple of evenings. Will be checking with Mike to see if I can do some flying tomorrow and Wednesday, and from where. (I already have a pretty good idea where.) Spent today sightseeing in Winona and La Crosse. Ann found an antique store in La Crosse and, well, you know what that means. Heh. See you when you get here. Oh yeah, once again, the weather is just awesome. Later, ...jim

RE: Michigan Jets 2009
Hi George and the rest of the Michigan Jets crew (and you too Burt!), Ann and I had a great time once again. The flying was fabulous Friday, the fraternizing crazy Saturday, and Sunday, well, lets just say it was wilting. :-) Had a bit of fun on our way to Gary, Indiana. About an hour out, on I-90, just as we passed some poor soul changing a tire on his travel trailer, one of ours blew out. Quite the bang. Fortunately, no damage (other than the shredded tire.) But man did we sweat changing it. 95, high humidity and bright sunshine is not very conducive to hard physical labour. Reminds me why I like my office job. :-) Again, thanks for great time, and looking forward to seeing you next year. ...jim

RE: Minnesota Jet Rally 2009
Hi Dave! We're on our way. At the moment, we're at a FlyingJ in Gary, Indiana for the night. Should be at the airport tomorrow afternoon. Going to get a bit of a late start tomorrow. Had a trailer tire blow out on I-90 about an hour out of Gary. Got real sweaty changing it (95, humid, and in the sun. Ugh.) Tomorrow morning I need to find a tire place and get a new one. Don't want to go to far without a spare! Just checked the weather forecast and man does it look gorgeous!! Low to mid 80's, and sunshine all week. Can't wait! ...jim

RE: Liberty Bell Pics
A little late chiming in (better late than never?) Mike, Cindy and all the rest of the crew, Ann and I had another great time at the Liberty Bell jet rally. Arriving early proved beneficial, as we did the tourist thing for a couple of days. Much thanks for your hospitality! (And yes, I've started in on the mound of chocolate goodies I got at Hershy's. :-) ) At the moment, we're at a FlyingJ in Gary Indiana, on our way to Rushford Minnesota, having just finished the Michigan Jet Rally. What a month. Five weekends, five jet rallies. Heh. Thank again, and see you soon! ...jim
ORIGINAL: AndyAndrews How do you get away with such a large Avitar? Yours shows 120 x 145 pixels. 85 x 85 is max.
I'm "special"? Honestly, I have no idea. My best guess is that when I uploaded my avitar pic on one of the previous versions of the forum software back in '02, that was the size that was allowed. When the software or setting was changed, existing ones were allowed to stay. Which means I'd better not change it, or I won't be special anymore. Heh. ...jim

RE: Behotec 180?
Based on two years of operating a Behotec J66HP, I've just ordered a Behotec JB180. The first year of operation with the J66HP was with propane start. Never a problem (unless I did something stupid.) Put 16 hours on the engine. After the first year I sent it in to Peter for a checkup and conversion to kero start. Checkup showed no problems and nothing needed to be replaced. Again, second year, never a problem (unless it was me.) Another 16 hours. Finally, after 36 hours and I forget how many starts, the o-ring finally started slipping. Sent it in to Peter this past winter for a full overhaul, including bearing replacement (even though there was no indication of any problem with the bearings. Preventative maintenance and all that.) Looking forward to another great year with the J66HP, and now with the JB180. Regards, ...jim
