RE: Foam Cutting Power Supply - Train Transformer
I've gone this same route off of youtube videos'. It cuts foam nice. Just haven't tried in for wing cores yet. Going to make some ace 1/2 A cores from scrap foam. Jim
ORIGINAL: jester_s1 Going the inexpensive route, I have one made with a 12/24 volt radio shack transformer and a light dimmer switch. RE: Making Molds of Classic Pattern Plane Fuselages & Parts to Keep them Alive for all of us to Enjoy!
I think the .40 Intruder would be nice. Need an alternative to the DB-40. Plus it saves me from trying to build one from scratch. Jim
ORIGINAL: TonyF I just got these two delivered yesterday. Got them right here on RCU in the Classifieds. The Intruder ended up being a .40 when I was looking for a .60, but it's nice. Would be a fun model to build. The Pulsar is really nice, untouched

RE: Whats up with kits?
If I've been wanting to sell a kit (the few I have left), I've been going to the rc classified sites and setting a price. The auction sites are just a losing opportunity. Yes, I've seen fewer and fewer kits on the auction sites, which are now loaded with off shore built rc stuff. Jim

RE: RCM plans service sucks
Always been 4-6 weeks for cross border shipments, and at a higher shipping rates. I noticed they have improved on that. Plans are not that much in demand with this new generation. At least RCM still sells plans at a reasonable price. I only purchase from MAN when on sale. Jim

Joe Bridi more than likely redesigned the plane to differentiate it from the original design he sold to Great Planes Mfg. Which is also why his later "Kaos" designs were spelled as "Chaos". Just a guess. Jim

RE: Is China getting expensive?
Edward Deming did not believe in the concept of "Continuous Improvement". Deming believed every process would be perfect and reliable and capable of producing zero defects if it was statistically controlled. But defects still existed in this production process, defects were measured but not eliminated. Every company jumped on the band wagon in the early 80's, but 30 years later more companies are following the Toyota Production System developed by Shigeo Shingo by eliminating waste in their production system. Somewhere is was quoted that Shigeo Shingo though Demings teachings were off target.
ORIGINAL: wallace.tharp Well said Topspin, for anyone interested, a guy name of W. Edwards Deming set up a program that was many years later called "Total Quality Management." It was used with succes by Ford and the U. S. Government. The Japanese adopted it at the end of WWII and made a great success of implementing it. The system involved going to the assembly line floor and asking workers if there was a way to save a few minutes each day doing their jobs. It also involved numerical statisticss and most importantly, asking the last guy out the door how he liked the product and what would he change to make it a better product or buying experience. This was, Toyota, Honda, OS engines, Sato, Sony, etc. You want to make a good camera, you copy the best German camera of the day and make it cheaper and almost as good for a great price! OMG, what a concept. The Koreans are doing it right now. Look t their almost BMW cars on the high end. A guy my wife worked with in Alaska said in about 1990, "The price of gold is the price of gold, today and tomorrow, and for that matter in 1955. His example, there is very little difference in the cost of a Mercades in 1955 as there is now if you figure that cost in the current value of an oz. of gold. My 1967 Chevele SS, yes, 396 4spd cost $2860. My guess is now that car would be about 35 to 45 k in the form of the new Camaro. Oops, my example is almost double for the cost of the new Camaro, but many people and governments are now hoarding gold. You get the idea. Some big time economists say this a way of our government taxing us without us think we are being taxed. There is no inflation you know! Fixes; free markets, less government red tape, motivation for our kids study math & science.. Just my ideas. Wallace Tharp
I have a set of plans in post#14 which must be later than 1984. I build one in 1977, the ailerons were scalloped (i think) and used two bell cranks for the ailerons. The plans in post#14 use torque rods. Jim

Thanks Bob. Surprise it's a midwing. It's also part "Eyeball" too. The designer made it because of a "lack" of new "classic pattern planes". It needs a Mach 1 canopy to complete it. Jim

RE: Can Keith Sparks spark the build comeback?
I know that Keith Sparks has at least half to a dozen designs featured in MANs over the years. He is also currently providing vacuum formed parts for as upgrades for foam flyers, canopies for older models (dirty birdy, A6 Intruder, Gator Flea, Jr. Falcon) at reasonable prices. I've bought several and may use them one day. Too many idea's for projects at one time. Jim
