RE: New Twin Commanche ARF
Here are a few pics of mine...Already assemble and still needs to be balanced and have both engines broken in...The engines are in a Great Planes "Escapade 40", and the engines I.m using are Magnum XLS46R...Am using E-Flite 60-120, electric retracts No problems on the main gear, but the nose unit was a problem....I set it up as per instructions (Retracting the nose wheel and the doors closing behind it) and it was a pain in the butt, getting it right...Do have pics of building the model.so if you care to see them, just ask and I'll put them on...BTW,am using 42 % Micro-Glow V-6-R2 unit on the engines. If you get one, please have it a assemble...So Here are a few pics of the model........................

RE: New Twin Commanche ARF
Am working on the model again...First thing I had to do is exchange the kit fuel tanks, and installed Sullivan RST 10 oz fuel tank..The ones that came with the kit are only 8 ozs....had to modity it a bit,but did get it done...To me 8.0 ozs isn't enough fuel for a good flight. Next thing I have noticed is both engines are off-set for right thrust....Have built several twins in the past and always set the right engine up at 2.0 degrees right thrust and the left one at 0-0 or 2.0 degrees left thrust on the left engine...like to have your opinion on this matter. Would appreciate and help on this matter........ Thanx Jimmie B

RE: New Twin Commanche ARF
Slider303; Thanx for the info in regards to the twin.....I have built 3 of thier models (Seagull)..they are "Pilatus PC-6 Porter, Dewoitine D.520, and a Super Tucano....The last two came with retracts and wheel well liners (Plastic)..no problem installing them....I intend to use glow engines in mine (Twin)....As for future Seagull kits,I believe I'll pass...The piper twin comanche really sucks....At the present time, can't say too many good things about the kit......I think that 'Seagull' better get there S@*^& together or they'll bite the dust................Nuff said

RE: New Twin Commanche ARF
Have purchased this kit from my LHS....Also ordered E-Flite tri-gear (Retracts) too...Did notice that no main or front nose gear liners came with the kit....The small booklet that came with the kit (Seagull Models Airplane Series 2010-2011) on page 33, shows a picture of the retracts for the kit.. The # is SEA-RE01. I called them and they didn't know what in the hell I was talking about...Also the LHS owner checked on his computer and couldn't find them on his computer...Will use Magnum 46 2 stroke engines....But before I go any further, HH better come up with some answers on this problem...If 'Slider 303' gets a reply soon, I hope you can post it...Sounds like someone screwed up on this problem....Like to say more ,but will wait until he gets a reply.............Just my two cents worth.......

RE: I remember when.......
I remember when back in 1963 when I first got into the hobby (Radio Control)...My very first plane was a Livewire cruiser...Had a Citizenship brown box, single stick transmitter and a rec'r that was reeds, and you could play "Yankee Doodle Dandy" on the reeds...was 27 super regen, and bonner type servo's..had a McCoy 35 engine installed in the plane...Anyway,my very first flight, after about 5 minutes in the air,Lose control of the plane because of a radio problem and it was a fly away...It kept circling to the right and climbing up and finally lost sight of it...I looked and looked for it for about 1 month, couldn't find it,so put an ad in the local newspaper and got a response that a farmer had found it in his field,so I got it and was pretty well banged up, so the next year, another Livewire was built, and had a F&M Matador reeds,27.145 freq. installed..The second flight was great and no fly away...Believe I had an OS 35,with a rotaing barrel carb.,for a muffler.......yes,I do remember when.....

RE: ASM C-130
I noticed alot of you builders are going electric...Well my ASM C-130 has the following engines...inboard engines are OS 40 4 strokes and the outboard engine are saito 30's 4 strokes...have 42 precent on board glow drivers for each engine....engines are hooked up to a JR Matchbox for throttle control...using a redundant system, and brakes on the tandem wheels..if you want to see it in flight,go to youtube anf look for "Jims C-130"...BTW, the radio is a JR 9303, mode one...Haven't had a flight with engines out yet..............Just my 2 cents worth

RE: ASM P-61 kit Build
Am quiting the hobby and have the retracts for the ASM P-61 for sale....Both booms cracked on a meduim hard landing...Booms not repairable,so ASM doesn't have any spare parts for the P-61, so I do have some spare parts for the plane ,just in case you need em...The main gears retracts are spot welding by a friend of mine...the original weld broke on the sixth flight, so both main and front gears(Front nose gear didn't break) are in excellent condition....

RE: ESM JU-87 Stuka-Winter Camo Kit
Andrew S: Yes,the bomb is droppable... Found another Vortec bomb release in my "Junk" pile, and post # 95 has a pic of how I hooked it up...used a Hitec HS-82mg servo...works OK on the bench...as for flying it, probably around the last of June...Have a SBD Dauntless that needs to be test flown first..will have video's of the test flights of both planes....Right now, might start decking( Dauntless), it out...panel lines and dirty it up as in combat....still need to get the props "Xoar 16-8" for the Saito 150....Anyway so much for now..thanx for your interest...will keep in touch in regards to both aircraft...........Good luck

RE: ESM JU-87 Stuka-Winter Camo Kit
here are some finished pics of the Stuka....had to add 2 ozs to the nose to get it to balance level at 120 mm...with the "Peter" bomb is in place..balances level without the "Peter" bomb..........sorry no dive brakes on it yet....have to rearrange my wing rack so I can put the wing on it with the dive brakes..also have to adjust my ailerons and flaps......make sure that both are equal distance, and check the flaps one more time...don't want a nasty left or right turn on takeoff (test flight).....after the brakes are added, then check the balance again without the "Peter" bomb.................OK here are the pics

RE: ESM Dauntless ????
Whiterook: The first SBD was a KMP model, and the second one is a ESM model...There is no differnce between the two...same measurements, same CG,etc.....You will need a 10 channel radio( JR) to have the flaps and dive brakes to work properly.....will fly the SBD sometime this summer....right now,am finishing up on a ESM JU-87 D "Stuka", winter camo version.....good luck with your SBD

RE: ESM JU-87 Stuka-Winter Camo Kit
Andrew S: Got my machine gun from Ty,and installed it and the canopy on the Stuka...all thats left to do is paint the spinner as soon as the weather clears up....Planning on painting it flat white and with a corkscrew (Blk) design on it....have balanced it at 120 mm and it is level at that CG..haven't weight it yet........hoping it's around 16 Ibs....going to order a couple of XOAR 16-8 props...getting those from Chief Aircraft...After the spinner is pianted and the prop is on it,will re balance it ....... Here are a couple of pics of the machine gun and canopy installed..........enjoy

RE: ESM JU-87 Stuka-Winter Camo Kit
kahloq: Glad you like my set up on the muffler..took a little brain work to figure it out...anyway,thanx for the tip on the rear gun..Yah,I know walmat...I never shop there, but have a good friend that works there, and will send him an e-mail,and have him pick it up......he can probably get a discount on it,since he works there....Haven't got the pilots yet from Tomas...have to write to him and see how he shipped it...usps.or ups..should know today..forgot to mention that I put my antenna inside one of the plastic giudes that where for the elevator...managed to get one of those guides out of there, but couldn't get the other one out,si moditfy it a little inserted the antenna...there's a recent pic of it showing how I did it...so all I got left to do is install the pilots, and canopy, paint the spinner, then weight it and check the CG out..will keep you posted on this.......... I noticed you have a ME- 109....have one also with a Saito 120 4 stroke in it...flys it pretty good..also onstalled retracts from "Shinden Machine Retracts"...a hell of alot better than the ones from KMP....again thax for the tip on the machine gun................................................later
