RE: Pic's of Install for Skymaster Hawk
No problem with them. You only have 7 redundant channels through the Royal so there is no point in getting two 14ch Rx, unless you just want it to look symmetric. Your remaining channels go directly from the Rx, so you would use one side or the other but not both.

RE: Pic's of Install for Skymaster Hawk
I put the 160SX in it. Just before I flew it for the first time, I was worried it wouldn't be enough, but I was wrong. This engine combo is fantastic with the Hawk. If you have some extra cash to throw at it, buy the 180RX. I wouldn't put anything bigger in it. I posted a pic of the elevator servo setup. SM has some QC issues here and there, but I believe I have addressed them during my build. Overall, this is great flying plane. It was the smoothest maiden that I have ever done in the 20 years of flying. Luck or smart engineering, the plane seems to be perfectly designed for stable, smooth flying. You won't regret buying this one.

Incidently, I asked the same question when I put my 160 in my Euro and both Dave Wilshire and Andy Cane said the pipe will work just fine.

RE: Eurosport and G Booster 160
I am using the original pipe with a Jetcat 160SX. It works fine. The original pipe is heavy gage and is a bit heavier than the Tam pipe. I believe the additional weight is the only drawback. It doesn't bother me. I like a robust pipe that I know is not going to fail..... and I am not by defult saying that Tams pipe will.... I know Tam makes the best pipes in the biz. I am just saying the stock pipe is strong.

RE: Does anyone have exp with SM MB339?
That's exactly what I was guessing would happen. So you don't think it is unstable on take off with it being slightly tail heavy?

RE: Does anyone have exp with SM MB339?
I have. I scanned through it and found some good info like that most are putting the CG 3cm aft of the center of the tube. That still leave the two rear tanks aft the CG, minus the first 1 cm. The front tank is forward of the CG but its volume is less than the sum of the two rear tanks. No one in that thread mentioned specifically what the CG does from empty to full. I stole a picture from that thread to reference the tanks. You can't see the tube but it is just in front of the saddle tanks.

Does anyone have exp with SM MB339?
I am working on a Skymaster MB339 project and there is something I just don't get. The CG on the airframe is on the main spar, or very close, and 2 of the 3 fuel cells are behind the spar! The way I see it, is that if you balance the airframe empty, it will come out tail heavy when you fill the tanks. I have never built an airplane with the majority of the fuel sitting behind the CG. So..... Are you guy balancing empty, or full, or what?

Thanks for posting pictures guys. I was so focused on doing the maiden flight on the SM Hawk that I forgot my camera. I was worried I wouldn't have any pictures of it.

RE: Servos for Skymaster Large Hawk?
I just finished mine and I used 8711 all the way around. I think it is more than need on the aileron and elevator but the 8411 are not that much cheaper than the 8711's So I jused 8711's. Some trimming is needed to fit the 8711 in the mounts, but its not a big deal.

RE: FREE**ROUTE 66 JETS 7TH ANNUAL
Hey Roger. I'm Joe Dirr's buddy. Joe and I are coming out on Friday. I plan on bringing my Euro and my large SM Hawk. I wanted to do the maiden on the Hawk this weekend, but due to the Hurricane carryover, this weekend will not work out. Do you think I could do the maiden at R66 after hours on Friday eve? Thanks Joe Westrich Also, I don't think you have Mike Molnar on your list. He

Yep.... Just picked up some A123 packs. If anyone is in need of 4500mah 6v Nimh JR packs. I just purchased two from Dreamworks for $72 each and have changed out the plug to a deans connector. I will sell the pair for $100.

Important Powerbox question!
I recently purchaced a Powerbox Royal but didn't notice until now that it was built specificly for Lipo batteries or related. I use the JR 4500Nimh 6v Rx packs they sell for their power redundant systems. Can I NOT use these batties I just purchased? Is the voltage too low for the system to run properly. The system has been acting goofy during my setup stage. Powerbox super users, please help me.

The Y/A F18 twin also flew on two dynamax fans. Now, I'm putting a P-200 in it. I think two 100's are a good fit.

RE: Large SM Hawk ?
I found in the manual where is stated the tank is 3L or about 100oz. I plan to add a 40oz tank. That should give me comfortable flight times on the 160sx.

RE: Large SM Hawk ?
Interesting....not getting email notification on replies. Anyway, I guess I could fill it with water and measure it out. I thought I would try any easy way first. I plan on using a 160SX. I believe it is 18oz per min at full throttle. I would like to have 140oz but there is no way this main tank is 140. I would guess its around 100oz, just by looking at it. I will add another tank, but I need to see what size I need.

Great looking bird. I have my SM Hawk 100 coming in next week. Let me ask you....did you have any issues with the main gear retracting? I know in the past it seemed that the cylinders had some trouble lifting the legs up. Are you running about 100psi? Thanks Joe
