RE: Extreme Flight 88
ORIGINAL: phatg0nk okay thnx, I actually had already mounted the engine even know i didnt state it like that.so wondering if it somthing i need to worry about . Not a biggy tho, i think i would know real quick when i go start it today.I wont mount the cowl for a flight or or more probally.. Appreciate your help again. As many times as ive flipped stuff arround on my glow, and then looked at this and didnt see it~ well doh~
You must be the guy that I'm messaging on Youtube. How's it going? I think I rotated the carb and block. I also flipped the throttle arm so it's 180 degrees from original position.

RE: servo installation advice
If the whimpy little throttle spring pulls the throttle off its mount, it wasn't installed properly. I leave my springs as-is from mfg and I never have had this happen. It's not the root cause here. Even the OP admitted it was his throttle servo installation.

RE: How to Setup A123 Pack with Charge & Arming Switch Capabilities?
If you go with CellPro chargers you need just one 3 pin charge jack (does power and balance in one connector). I use the Deans 3-pin charge jack. Mounts on the side of the fuse. Works great. I charge at 4 amps. Takes about 10-15 minutes. Just use a normal switch as you don't need the charge port.

RE: Hitec Servo Opinions - Thanks
I use the 7985 for throttle on my gas planes. Works great. I use the 7955 instead of the 7954. Much better gear train (titanium).

RE: Best 100 - 120cc engine for 3D
I have the DA-120 with stock muffs on an Extreme Flight 110" Yak 54 and I love it. I fly tons of 3D on it. Perfect engine IMO. I've had many engines and it is reliable and a power house. I trust it down low any time. I pan caked mine in a few months ago and busted up my fuse really bad. Got in some weird air and could not keep it from stalling to the ground (in other words totally my fault). Sent the engine to DA because it hit the ground and broke the prop. They inspected it, cleaned the carb, and sent it back charging me only return shipping. Nothing was wrong with the engine. I love the DA-120. Right now it's turning a Mej 28x12 at 6400 RPM. Pulls the 29 pound Yak up out of a hover very quickly. Verticals are very fast.

You can also open the pipe tunnel on the bottom of the fuse. That's what I do. Never had my Extra or Yak over heat. I like the looks of the louver on the front of the Yak.
ORIGINAL: Uncas I see a lot of Conoco and Phillips. Does that mean they don't use ethanol in any of their gas?
You can't assume that for all of their gas stations. I think there's rules for how a station can carry non-ethanol gas. Don't remember what they are. The Senate just voted against an Ethanol measure with our gasoline. Seems like it's on its way out. There's a huge cost to tax payers for Ethanol. The gov subsidizes ethanol gas to the tune of like 60 cents per gallon. It'll take a while but it seems the gov can't afford it anymore. Waste of money...and lots of it. http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/us_usa_senate_ethanol

RE: ETHANOL FREE GAS!!! WEBSITES.
We need to vote them all out of office....eventually. All of the ones that pushed for this. It's a crock of crap. Meanwhile we should buy our gas at these places if we can. Just make sure to call them first. I know a guy on another forum that drove to the station only to find they were actually 10% ethanol. He found another place, called them first, and they had the real deal. So you can't trust this website 100%. It's maintained by anybody that has a pc. http://www.pure-gas.org/index.jsp

RE: Extreme Flight Extra 300, 50cc, 88.5inch Wingspan, Build !!!!!!!
Yes I did. Got the DA-120 combo. All I can say is OMG what an amazing plane...especially with that grunty DA-120. Amazing power. I had to sell either my 88 Yak or 88 Extra. It wasn't an easy decision but the 110 Yak ain't cheap and I needed some financial help. The Extra was the oldest so I decided to sell that one. Now I have an 88 Yak and 110 Yak and that's all the planes I have besides foamies.

RE: Extreme Flight 88
Sorry to hear about that. Not sure what happened but you shouldn't over tighten the bolts. Just snug them up with a little muscle and that's it. Can't crank on them like metal bolts. Also can't leave them too loose or they back out. With that said, never had one break of back out on 4 EF planes. Or any other plane for that matter. It's a good idea to replace the wing bolts after a few years....but...I have an Extra on season 4 with the same bolts. So they are pretty tough.

RE: 35% radio/servo/battery setup question
A 9C only has 8 proportional channels. So you'll need some help for all those servo connections (9), not including an ignition kill. Plus (2) battery connections. Also to gang the two rudder servos on one channel you'll need some synchronizer since they are not programmable. I'd suggest a power expander. If you can get one that has a servo synch that will help with ganged servos on the ailerons and rudder. You could use the Hitec programmer for the ailerons, but not the Futaba rudder servos. I went with 2 Futaba 8 CH receivers on my 10C on a 35% Yak. Only one rudder servo....all Hitec programmables. You could do that if you had all programmable servos. The PE Pro is really slick but desn't have the synch servo outputs. It has a safe switch that turns on both batteries that plug into Deans Ultra ports (sort of like JR Smart safe receiver). I'm not familar enough with SmartFly to know if they have something with that option. Call the guy. He's great to deal with.

It's fine as long as you don't pan cake the plane or have a rough landing. I have CF in my 110" yak. It came with the kit. One thing I like about CF is that the legs don't spread out like the alum.

RE: Cellpro Multi Fuel Gauge Reading
Wow, I 2nd what Capt Lou says. Awesome and informative post Mr TF. It just makes me love Cell Pro even more. They make the best chargers on the planet if you ask me (I have 4 of them now...lol). I always use Accurate charge for my A123's. I didn't know all that stuff was going on in the background. Cool. And I use the same method of how much mah goes back in the packs for fuel level. That seems to be very accurate. I keep logs on all my packs of how much they take in mah per charge cycle and how many 10 minute flights I did on that charge. The per flight mah comes out to be very close. The main difference is probably that my flying routine changes slightly from flight to flight.

10C Knife edge mix with two elevator servos
I actually found the explanation for how to do this in another thread (see below). I created this one because I didn't find a thread for the 10C and they are the same problem/solution. This thread may make it easier for people to find it when they search for the 10C. In a nut shell, to do a rudder to elevator pmix with two elevator servos, you first need to turn the link off in the elevator pmix. Then turn on the link in the rudder to elevator pmix. Then go back and turn on the link in the elevator pmix. Sounds goofy but if you don't do the linking in that that order, the 2nd elevator half doesn't respond to the knife edge mix. What's weird is the link will disappear from the rudder to elevator pmix but it will work now. Read more below if you wish. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_4743244/anchors_4746894/mpage_1/key_/anchor/tm.htm#4746894

RE: Futaba 9C Knife-Edge Mix
Wow I found this thread in a search. Old but good. Had this same problem at the field yesterday with my 10C (knife edge mixing with two elevator servos). I was lookng for the link option in the pmix screen and couldn't find it. I hope what I found in this thread works. Edit: It works. All you have to do is turn the link off in the elevator pmix, then the link appears in the rudder to elevator pmix....so turn it on there. Now go back and turn the link back on in the elevator pmix. What's weird is the link will disappear from the rudder to elevator pmix but it will work now.

RE: AW Extra 300 or EF Extra 300 w/DA 50
For your purposes either one is fine. If one wanted to fly advanced IMAC or hard core 3D, EF. I think the EF planes have to really be pushed to the limit to be appreciated. Just flying around, doesn't matter. Either one is a nice quality ARF. I flew my buddy's AW Extra 260 and I really like it but no comparison to my EF Extra, especially in 3D mode. The EF has no bad habits in 3D mode, where most other brands will show some weird stuff (coupling). But if you don't fly 3D you'll never notice this. If I were you I'd just go with the one that you liked the looks of the most.

RE: Extreme Flight 88
Are you using a spinner when you're checking the CG? That affects the balance a lot. My spinner is about 3.5 ounces. It's CF. Also my louver plate added a couple of ounces with the glass I used to reinforce it. What is your CG right now? I think 7.5" is the aft end of the range.

RE: Futaba 10CAG vs 8FG Super - pros and cons
Yeah same here except I'll be keeping my 10CAG for a while. I don't need more channels at this point. If I do I'd get the 8FG...maybe next year. Of course by then they will probably release something better than the 8FG...and on the progression goes. Keeps us buying new tx's every year. My buddy just got an 8FG and I saw it yesterday at the flying field. Seems like a nice radio. I like my 10CAG's larger back lit display but that's about it. The 8FG feels a little smaller in my hands but doesn't seem like it would be a problem. If I were buying one today I think it'd be a no-brainer. 8FG.

I have that same exact engine setup. My ignition battery is next to the tank. The rx batt is behind the wing tube. No pilot or dash. Perfect balance. Do you have the louver on the cowling? Also what prop and spinner? I can't imagine what would make yours so tail heavy when your setup is just like mine.

Depends on your flying taste really. At the front of the range for IMAC, near the middle for 3D stuff. I think mine is at 7 1/4". The range is 6 3/4" to 7 1/2" at wing root. http://www.extremeflightrc.com/manuals/88YakManualRev2.pdf

RE: DA 50 - Periodic Hard Start
None of my engines will run for 7 seconds with the choke closed. That's the problem you need to fix. I like the theory of the choke not closing completely. Or some air leak somewhere from the clunk to carb, or carb to engine block. Is the spark plug new? I would assume that's one of the first things you checked. Because it's intermittent it really sounds like a choke not closing 100% every time.
