RE: Powerbox iGyro
Is there anyone using the iGyro with JR/Spektrum receivers? we have a couple of questions on setup/operations and would like to discuss via telephone. if you are overseas, we can Skype. i'm not the guy who setup the plane-just the messenger here.

RE: JetCat P90 RXI
if the P90RXI is at a lower price point than the P100 that may make them both supportable in the market. I'm on the list for a P180RXI

Jetcat USB Jettronic SW data download
i am trying to dowload data from my P100RX ECU via the Jetcat Jetttronics SW and the USB-RJ11 cable. i can see data on my mini-gsu but no matter what port i try on my laptop-i cannot get the Jettronic SW to "see the ECU. i can see the port active and with no issues in the Control panel, but no connection to the ECU. i have used this computer and cable before with the ECU V6 and no issues. even with AutoDetect for the ports...no luck. suggestions? also, i have the JetCat GPS unit connected to this motor. when i looked at the data on the Mini-GSU it showed it as enabled, but no values for the GPS. what gives?? thanks! joe

RE: GPS logger
have you tried the Eagle Tree GPS V4? 10hZ rate. plots directly to GE. tells you how many satillites you have (i usually have 8, sometimes 10) HDOP, course/heading, distance from start. its pretty cool to look at the plots on GE as it show you where you are flying over your club field. it shows me taxing out and takikng off slightly off the centerline. here is a .kml file i had to rename it .jpg to get it to upload-just rename the file extension to .kml and if you have GE on your machine just click on it and have a look. more $$ than HK but Bill is a great guy to work with-and his service department is also great.

Makita 18V Blower
I was thinking that i would pick up a Makita Blower (i know-some friends say its a waste) for my 1st and 2nd fully ducted turbine. i went to the following website http://www.factoryauthorizedoutlet.com/makita/us/products/bbo.asp any body have any dealings with these folks. the Makita is still a bit pricey but this place appears to have the best prices. thanks and see some of you at Kentucky Jets. SUPERSONIC RC??
Looks like someone here needs to get one of these motors from UC and break Shui's speed record! how big would your plane have to be to accomodate a 22# motor and necessary fuel? http://www.uasvision.com/2012/06/20/supersonic-mini-uas-to-challenge-jet-speed-record/?utm_source=Newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=ee670f4033-RSS_EMAIL_CAMPAIGN [link]http://www.uasvision.com/2012/06/20/supersonic-mini-uas-to-challenge-jet-speed-record/?utm_source=Newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=ee670f4033-RSS_EMAIL_CAMPAIGN[/link] Joe

CARF ULTRA LIGHTNING CRADLENEW PICS
I totally forgot to post some pics of what Chris built for me. This stand is extremely well designed and made-Chris was super patient with my list of questions. One of the best things about this stand is that before, to get my plane up/down the stairs in my Chicago row house, I woudl have to take the plane out of any stand and then either have two people move it or hug it to get it up/down stairs. Now, i just have it locked into the stand, and can carry it at any attitude. so it is now a one person job. I liked it so much that I ordered two for the pair of UltraFlashes that we're doing. Should have one at Kentucky Jets if you want to have a look. Also, Chris solved my delima of what to do for a wing tube. Instead of purchasing a wing tube (40mm no less-not the easiest thing to source) and then cutting it down, he just used his engineering brain and came up with the wing tube replacements. Works really well, super strong and no worries about them breaking. Chris, my apologies for such a slow posting. Your work is impeccable, and your work ethic is like we all hope we would be. oh, did I mention that he threw in a bag of wire/airline/fuel line keepers? thanks!! Buy a stand from Chris, you will not be disappointed. Joe

RE: Brakes, lube or no lube, flatspotting tires, etc
well, i went out to try the "fixed" setup-but i didnt have a chance to fly because we now have a gun range right by our field and we cannot fly over them (makes sense, right?) when it in use. the length is the same, there is no restrictor in the line-i am going to try the lubed setup and the pulsed setup on the jettronic brake valve.... so next opportunity to test will be at Kentucky Jets. the extra tires are on backorder, but hopefullly will be here in time for me to pack for my trip! i'll be interested in seeing how the brakes work on my new UltraFlash. thanks all for your adivce and ideas. joe

RE: Brakes, lube or no lube, flatspotting tires, etc
I will look to see if i have already put in a restrictor-cannot recall. lines are equal lenght. the brakes were DRY as per your instructions Todd i'll reprogram the brake-you opinion on the "anti-lock" pulsed feature? when you say increase the ATV, do you mean set it beyond+/- 100 to something like 125? thanks all.

Brakes, lube or no lube, flatspotting tires, etc
I realize that it is a end user problem, but i seem to be unable to stop my plane without getting so excited about stopping that I flat spot a tire. Elan, JetTronics Zero Loss Brake valve (no real room for a Smooth Stop without redoing a bunch of stuff). Dreamworks struts-Intairco Wheels, Tires and Brakes. The instructions are pretty clear-NO LUBE inside the hub for the brakes unlike other designs/mfg (BVM) i have the valve set to the normal, non pulsed action. when i put on the brakes one side always seems to grab more than the other. yesterday i did one of those cool bandit stops where the plane slides around and ends up pointing the other way....looks COOL but goofs up the tires, at least this tire. some suggestions have been. 1. lube the brake-forget the instructions 2. get RC Car tires (foam), glue them on the rim, then grind them down (don't like that one at all!). 3. try the pulsed setting 4. get a lighter right brake finger! 5. land slower the last two are pretty obvious, but what the heck is going one? helpful hints appreciated. really would like to avoid replaceing this valve with a servo actuated brake valve. THANKS!

RE: Help with air in fuel issues
yes...enough beer should solve that insult. that and a shipment of kiddie clothes i know you all have been negotiating! break er..i know this probably is really stupid but could there be a defect in the stopper of the tank? you had said you pressurized the fuel lines so i am assuming that this was the entire end to end fuel system. i was also thinking about some weird crack in the fuel pump but that is downstream of the UAT, right? so never mind +1 on Marc's CAT. JR and I put one in the Ultra Lightning and I ordered a pair for the Ultra Flashes.....they are really cool, and they have HUGE nipples!! hmmmm and Gun, I hope i didnt jump on your comment too hard...it was just funny since i was talking to BJ when we were reading Ozie's thread, and BJ decided to be "helpful". I, for one will be referring to him as "T" as in Troll from now on!! too funny. and to think he sold all of his 40% stuff-ah well, we're supposed to go fly my jets here in Chicago this year-or so he says. RE: Help with air in fuel issues
Gun.. you realize Ozie and BJ are close childhood friends......... it was a joke dude!! hey Ozie..i know obvious question but, is all your stuff safety wired??? are you using a Festo SOV somewhere in there? (guess that would be downstream of the UAT.....
ORIGINAL: gunradd
ORIGINAL: bjohnson80 Every time I have experienced this problem, I simply remove the turbine and make it electric. Electrons in, electrons out. Problem solved.
This thread has nothing to do with electric and EDF troll. BTW your not going to find an EDF to fly an ultraflash anyway. Go troll the electric forums.[:D]
RE: CARF LIGHTNING INSTALL
do you mean the EC3's? the are great. i was a klutz at soldering Deans, and when i started trying to get 10ga wire for a 5000mah 5s1P pack for me EF Extra, i found the EC5's. yes, a bit pricey, but fool proof, and easy as can be to solder. i have all my planes/regulators/charger cords with EC3's or EC5's. the stock JR 1222 and 922 have the EC3's. I also have a set of EC3's to Deans and EC5's to Deans so i can share my batts with my friends. (or borrow theirs!) Joe

Have Marc's CAT in my Ultra Lightning....see CARF Lightning Install post here http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_11013397/tm.htm its in the 2nd pick. Marc we modified (ok, John R did it) how we mounted it-used your mount and cut a slots into the existing hole so we could mount it and use the o-ring to allow for easy removal. AWESOME product. going to get two for the Ultra Flashes on the bench. what size should i get for the UF?? thanks joe
