Derek, pack up the TE at the wing tip by the required amount - this gives gradual washout from wing centre to tip. john

RE: Wood for wing sturts
It will be helpful if you indicate size and type of model to indicate stress and also whether they are working or non working struts. I have used dowel glued to trailing edge stock when I could not get hardwood shaped struts john

RE: mmmm ribs
I have just started using a small orbital sander which has the sanding paper velcro'd on to allow you to change grades. Being right handed, I hold the sander in my left hand and work the rib block with my right. Faster and saves a lot of effort. The sander I have ( a cheapy from aldi's ) has a tube on it to fit a vacumm hose to suck the dust away - should have done this years ago to stop breathing the dust.

RE: building board grid paper
there used to be small rolls of patterned plasticised paper - called Fablon in the UK - which is adhesive backed for covering shelves, worktops and or drawer linings. One of the patterns was a grid pattern of about 3/4" spacing. Try wallpaper stores incl Homedepot and similar kitchen shops, hobby shops ( michaels ) etc. john

RE: Balsarite use and tips
Joe, For coverings, balsarite recommend putting it on with a piece of sponge which is thrown away. dip into the pot for just a smear - dont over load I use about a 1" square of scrap sponge and swab it on as thin as I can. Any on the fingers just peel off when it dries ( fast ) not tried thinning with water to stretch it furthe - anyone tried that ?/ john

RE: Envoy kit
I dont recall the Envoy being kitted but if it is the Aeromodeller Envoy, it is a nice little tricycle plane originally for freeflight but modern lightweight RC gear would be suitable for it. I have built 2 , the latest languishing in the New Forest with an ED Bee in it which it puttered around nicely on low revs until it caught a low down thermal ( 100 ft ) and that was that.
