Better Bearings for a BP A2810-9 Motor
installed. Anyone have any suggestions? The motors have otherwise been very good. Thanks, John C

RE: Lipo complete discharge?
Charge it at 100 - 300 ma rate until you are over 3V per cell, then try your charger in balance charge mode at 1/2C and see what happens. If it's not puffed or otherwise damaged, you might get lucky. It's likely damaged to some extent tho... YMMV. John C

RE: OS Max 10 FSR Carb Needed
Thanks for checking! I've got a name of a hobby shop that may specialize in older OS Max engines. I'll give them a try. Carb is disassembled for cleaning and then I'll try the CA fix. John C

RE: OS Max 10 FSR Carb Needed
Carb certainly looks similar. My measurements are a bit different from what you show. My spigot ID is .209 and OD is .334, which equals the 8.5 mm above. I'd appreciate your checking a carb from your FSR versus these numbers. Thanks, John C

RE: OS Max 10 FSR Carb Needed
Any idea as to the spigot diameter? The OS Max is 8.5 mm as best I can measure. Thanks, John C

RE: OS Max 10 FSR Carb Needed
The carb broke through the threaded mounting holes of the spigot (part that inserts into the open venturi to make an R/C engine). Here's a pic looking down at the failed surface: Preview does not support attachments, hope this comes across OK. John C

RE: OS Max 10 FSR Carb Needed
Thanks for the responses. I'll check on e-bay for a TT ot Magnum carb. Thinking last night, I may be able to CA glue the bottom of the carb back on, and retap the mounting screws as a fallback position. This could be kinda weak tho... John C

RE: 18 v battery
Agree with dirtybird. Three amps is in the green zone on my Hobbico Deluxe Power Panel II, 12V mofset power center. It's currently powered by a 4S LiPo when my 12V SLA battery died after eight years. John C

Orthobird, what is the power source for you glow plug? A single cell NiCad or NiMH is approx. 1.2V. If you are using a power panel, I'll agree with your 12V power source. John C

RE: NO Spark on US 41
My experience is the US41 needs to be started using the spring starter to get enough RPM to make spark. Hand proping was not enough for mine. Ignore this it you have a battery powered CD ignition. John C

RE: Sig Herr Little Extra with OS15CV-A-optimum weight
An eaqsy way to beef up the landing gear is to get a 1/2A one from Tower Hobies. It's much stronger than the stock one. My stock one broke when I was trying to rebend it. I'm flying mine as a electric conversion after deciding the OS Max 10 FSR wasn't enough engine. About 350 watts of fun! John C

RE: where to buy ether?
I've not tried this, but reading the thread gave me an idea: How about mixing the oil and kerosene in a vessel, and then spraying John Deere starting fluid to the bottom of this mix through a pireced cap such as Lou Crane suggests? If you are using a glass container, you would spray until you got the proportion of either you desired. John C

RE: FROG 2.49BB
But first one has to have a lathe [:)]. Actually, I may have a 10p coin around the house to try too. The coin in a vice and turning the engine may work. This engine has no scars from attempted disassembly and I'd like to keep it that way[;)] John C

RE: How High?
Wait until February when the new FAA rules are supposed to come out. Our local soaring club with their moulded 3+ meter sailplanes may be out of business if a 400 ft. limit is really enacted [:'(]. Their winch runs are 450' plus major zooms coming off the line. I'm holding off on any more sailplanes until the new rules are published. John C

RE: tear down of satio 56 need help
Check to make sure your throttle is not closed as you will not have much compression until the throttle is well open. John C

RE: Wrongway Saito
Could it be as simple as too much throttle opening when you are trying to start it? My experience with Saitos is they want a low idle setting to start well. More throttle opening results in the experience you describe. John C

RE: re ign interference
What brand of radio are you using? Spektrum with remote Rx's might help alleviate the problem, tho I am not an expert on this. Best thing is a rigorous range check with teh engine running to smoke out any issues. John C
