RE: What size of RC planes do you like?
ORIGINAL: Microz  Hey. Just thought it would be interesting to hear what size of RC planes you guys out there like. Me personally, I like micro rc planes such as the parkzone Ultra Micros and E-flite Ultra Micro Extremes (hence my username :D). One reason is because they are so small that its easy to store and transport them. They also aren't very costly which is a big concern for me being only 15 years old. When you crash...theres a very low chance that you will break something, and when you do, a little glue and you are back up in the air! Batteries are small and cheap, no need to buy $40 batteries or batteries that look like huge bricks!!! :D There is also no need to join a club. You can fly these almost anywhere...i prefer a school field. So what size or RC planes do you like and why?
This seems odd...............

RE: TROY BUILT MODELS
My LHS will get me anything I need. I don't pay shipping....all I pay is tax. I can look over the kit and not buy if it is damaged. This works way better for me!

RE: Horizon Hobby could not help me with Saito trouble, what do I do?
After fault finding for a month, with the engine in a test-bench, it suddenly fired up, and was the good old Saito I love so much ! I took it out of the test-bench, into the airplane ( a lot of work) and off to the field ! And it refused to start on the field. Back to original situation. Work backwards....if it runs fine on the bench but doesn't in the plane...that leads me to beleive there is a problem with things in the plane.

My second plane was a Goldberg .60 to 1.20 size Ultimate biplane. It still remains my favorite plane. Don't waste your time on a stick, you will get bored real fast. Just like a trainer.

What a bunch of crybabies.......Even at $350.00 the 71" to 73" planes are still a bargin. Compair them to the TF ARF's.

RE: Carl Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 Brotherhood.
I would go with the DLE. It will swing a larger prop than the Saito. You should be able to use a 17x6, that would be great for the Ultimate and your flying style. 2 elevator servos is the way to go. I have had an elevator servo fail in the air and still landed the plane with just one half of the elevator working. Just go with 2 wing servos. Use all 4-40 hardware and you will have a great plane. Also it is a bit more work to make the top wing a bolt on but well worth it. It makes setting the incidence on the top wing really easy.

RE: What Aircraft are you installing your DLE20
ORIGINAL: vertical grimmace I was just wondering, how difficult is it to replace the plug cap if necessary? I kind of skidded on mine and was getting some arching. I think I got it insulated, but it is just not running as smooth now. Really sucks cause it was absolutely perfect before that. Or maybe I should ask where is the best place to find a kit to replace it? Well, never mind guys, I found them at Valley view. Should have just looked there first. Should not be too tough to replace. It is more a matter of having god new parts. Got them on the way now.
Please let us know how those "god new parts" work out. [:D] lol

Best looking "ARF" that I have ever had the pleasure seeing. You have put so much work into this project. I love it. 77chickenhawk, I feel your pain on being unemployed. I have been in that state for almost 2 years. Hell I can't even fly anymore. I live here on the forums for my only RC fix. Hope this doesn't happen to you. I had to move also.....Sucks.
ORIGINAL: maukaonyx jsarsonj, I have a 120 Surpass in mine, the one with the manual choke. I like it with a 16x8 MAS on it. Tried down to 15x8 and did not like it as much, but each person has their own feel and preferences. Jon
It matters what your ALT is, also what fuel you use. Different props from different manufactures can make a significant difference too. I would recommend a good 20/20 fuel for that engine and try an APC 15x8 or 17x6 for that air frame and engine.

RE: RCAero JC Engines & YDA Engines
Why would they need working on already? Pretty much any engine shop can work on them. There is only a handful of parts to them with the bits that wear out being readily available from a number of places.  If I was Stateside, I would be inclined to use someone like RC Ignitions,  RCExtremepower or Valleyview depending on where I was located. As those companies have all seen some of the best quality products and have proven track records in enigne repairs. It would cost a fee for them to look it over but it would be well worth it as they would be more likely to easily spot items that could be affecting performance or reliability.  I use my local Stihl Dealer here for similar reasons. Great guys who really know their engines. They are also involved in Karting which helps. Not saying the JC's are duds but there are better out there too.
Well as stated in this forum earlier....parts are hard to get from JC. Also the version 1 of this engine had known problems from the factory. I got this engine before I knew about the problems. Henry at RC Aero was replacing them with the Evo 2. As I didn't purchase the first engine from him I couldn't get in on the replacement program. The second engine (the Evo 2) came from Henry. But he went out of business. And as the 28cc is a discontinued product, where will the parts come from? Just wondering, I have $450.00 invested in these engines. I feel like a fool for purchasing them.[:@]

RE: What Aircraft are you installing your DLE20
I have had many Topflite .60 size warbirds and all of them were in the 10 to 11 Lb range. We always used Y.S. 120's or 140's and the were great performers at that weight. Also I had a World Models P-51 just like SpinnerRow. That one came in at 10.5 lbs with a Y.S. .91AC and flew just fine. I think that the DLE 20 is the perfect choice for .90 to 1.20 planes. When this is the recommended 4 stroke engine.
