RE: Question regarding www.rcuvideos.com
I just submitted a new video. The same problem still exists... My new video, which has an "airplane" tag, is #50 on the "Airplanes" playlist. I just noticed that the sort order of the "Trucks & Cars" and "Helicopters" playlists is messed up also. The "Boats" playlist looks like it's sorted properly. Just wanted to let you know in case you ever get around to fixing it. Thanks, Josh

Magnum xl 46
I have an old Magnum xl 46 that I bought from a member a while back as a spare. I want to try it on my 40 size alpha trainer but it just seems so much smaller in size. Whats the difference between the old xl 46 and the new xls? Is it just a newer model, I cant seem to find info on the xl just the xls. Will the old xl power the trainer well enough? After looking at it closely it seems that maybe the xls has deeper heat fins.

RE: RC + Photography
To Rich: Regarding heli from behind the orange fence... I intentionally shot it that way trying to be "artistic", but in all honesty helicopters scare me. HEHE. To gboulton: I totally agree with everything you say about the short lens. I'm limited to the pit area, and following people around as they recover their plane from a crash. But it captures the personal side of the hobby. And again, I agree it captures a side of the hobby that you rarely see in good photography. I think the people at my club like it when I take pictures of them. I say this because they ask for full resolution copies to print out. (btw... the picture of the Ultimate is really about the clouds in the background. The details are much more impressive at full resolution on my big monitor at home). Here's some photos of Jack just after passing his wings test. See how happy he is? (No "AIRPLANE PILOT" badges left, so he got a "HELICOPTER PILOT" one temporarily). Josh

RC + Photography
After 8 years of being in RC hobby I recently branched out and started the photography hobby. I bought a DSLR (Canon T1i) and a good lens (Canon EF 24-70 f/2.8). The lens doesn't have the length for RC airplanes, but it's a good lens for up-close pictures in the pit area. I would like to start a thread where amateur (and pro) photographers can share their best pictures related to anything RC (airplanes, helis, cars, boats). I'll start... (The one with the line of people looking down is a search party searching for an engine, shortly after a mid-air collision)

When I turn on the esc in my slash after going green it goes to solid red. I have steering but no throttle, could the esc have died? I tried a new receiver and nothing changed. I couldn't find anything in the book about it. Thanks.

Kyosho Icarus + esc
I'm getting back into rc cars and trucks and decided to try to revive my old Kyosho Icarus. I have a basic 2 channel traxxas transmitter and reciever I will try to put in the car. From what I remember when I "stored" my Icarus, it had quit running or was very glitchy. I'm figuring I will need a new esc so I was wondering if anyone had a suggestions for a cheap esc I could put in there. It has the stock motor which is a 360st, but the motor might have to be replaced as well. Any ideas on a cheap esc or any other pointers for me? Thanks

RE: The Official Traxxas Slash short-course race truck
I have a duratrax intellipeak charger that uses a clamp down system for connecting to charging leads. I'm trying to find a female traxxas end that that will go from my battery to bare wires so I can clamp them in for charging, i could even cut the other end off if need be. Anyone know of one of these? Edit: I guess the battery is female so I need a male end to bare wires....

RE: help !! my RCV 90SP without power!!
I would try to make the holes a little more round as you look at them from the front. This frontal area is what the air sees and it's that cross section that will determine how much cool air gets in. Try to avoid sharp 90 degree turns the air has to travel. This may create a pocket of high pressure that air will not want to travel through. Round the corners some how. You want to create the highest positive pressure (A) at the intake holes and the lowest negative pressure (B) at the exhaust hole. The air will naturally want to go from A to B taking the path of least resistance. You want the cooling fins to be in that path. Let us know how you work it out. Josh

RE: help !! my RCV 90SP without power!!
Werner, Those scale intake holes may be enough. What kind of baffling (ducting, directing air) do you have inside the cowl? Got any pics? You have to make sure that whatever cool air goes in those holes, goes straight to the cooling fins of the engine, and then out the hole near the exhaust. The air should have NO WHERE to go except through the cooling fins. Josh
