Hi, I am building a 1/7 scale Hurricane - anybody know anyone selling canopies to fit?

That turned out great! Good luck with the maiden when it finally happens.

I think I like it, but I need to see it all done to be positive. Looks like a lot of overspray right now.

RE: 34 Yr. Old 1/4 J-3 Cub Rebuild
Thank you for sharing that. It's one of those things that isn't really all that difficult to do, and makes the aircraft look just that much better, but a lot of people aren't sure where to begin with the process.

RE: The Long Awaited Ultra Sport 60 Build Thread
I saw that thread a year or so ago, but at that point I wasn't aware that anyone was thinning it and spraying it. I'll keep it in mind for the future. I don't have the facilities to spray with a larger, touch-up gun, so for now, I brush. And apparently I brush it on thicker than most.

RE: Another Ultra Sport 60 build thread
Well, this time it was better, although far from perfect. It'll require considerable sanding to remove ridges and runs. The working time is only about 30 minutes before it starts to get thick and won't spread well, but it still wants to level itself, which caused the ridges when I turned it. It's hard to mix just enough and not too little or too much. I knew I couldn't do the entire plane at once, but I mixed more than I really needed and tried to wrap the fuselage sides some which didn't help me really. So... where am I? It's not ruined, but it's still going to require more work than I had hoped. Once I finally get the LSII on all of the surfaces, I'll need to sand it somewhat aggresively to knock off any high spots and ridges. Then I'll have to use a primer to level it all back out again before paint. I do believe though that it is still lighter overall than fiberglass and resin. Here is how it looks right now...

RE: The Long Awaited Ultra Sport 60 Build Thread
You spray it on? There is no way this stuff will spray through an air brush or touch-up gun. It's way too thick. I don't think we're talking about the same thing here.

RE: Another Ultra Sport 60 build thread
I got back to work a little on the US60 today. I sanded the rough spots on what I had already applied of the LSII with 400 grit and wiped it off. Then I still had about half of my original containers of the LSII, so I opened up Part B and thoroughly mixed it per the directions, then went to open the Part A, but it wouldn't budge [:@]. Evidently I didn't wipe off the threads well enough before I closed it up, so I threw it all out, parts A and B. But I had a box of unopened LSII, so I broke it out and mixed a batch. I re-applied it over the previously done portions of the plane, but this time I put it on thicker and I think that helped. I think the first time I was trying to brush it out too thin and not allowing it to be self-leveling. I think I'll have enough left to mix a batch and do the rest of the airplane if I can get the Part A open again (probably tomorrow). I'm still not sure that I haven't entirely ruined it, but I'm hopeful. I'll probably still have to spray on a high build primer before paint, something I thought I could avoid, but maybe not. After a few hours, I'll snap some photos to see where we are.

That's really nice TK. Can we get any more info on how you got to that stage with the prop? Like how you created the leading edge detail and riveting?

I intend either this afternoon or tomorrow, to add another (final) coat of the Liquid Sheeting II to mine and make a conceited effort to get it finished. I'm in the process of finishing a bashed Ugly Stick from plans.

RE: Mint Julep
ORIGINAL: warbirdmustang To help us succeed, the 4 of us are going to be meeting monthly, either bringing the plane or pictures to show our progress or face ridicule, and help each other stay focused on the plane at hand to make sure we get them finished in time. Maybe if we got together with some of our flying buddies on a regular basis like this, we would have more birds for the scale events. I challenge everyone to try the same! Bryan
That's a really good idea. I wish y'all good luck. (Oops, I just realized this post was from three years ago [:@]) We have several of the more 'Senior' members of our club who build and fly scale, but nobody competes anymore, and the most of the younger crowd prefer to just sport fly or 3D. I'll be embarking on my first real scale build this year with the outright intention of competeing also. I'm, sure I've got the building skills for it, and hopefully the 'detailing' skills as well. But to help ensure some moderate success, I've recruited one of our younger members, who happens to able to skillfully fly just about anything he gets his hands on, as my Pilot. So we'll compete in Team Scale.

No problem. It's just that your comment seemed odd to me considering what the aircraft looked like when TK started.

It does look wrong at first, but it's just the lighting on the white wingtips and the angle of the camera, it tricks the eye.
