RE: Need help plumbing a Kevlar tank
One other thing to remember is that after its all done pressure test the tank to check for leaks. Much easier to fix now if there is a leak than when inside the plane with electronics fitted. If you don't know how to do this just read up my Mig -29 put together tread (build tread) and I explain it in there. Ivan

RE: Need help plumbing a Kevlar tank
+1 as Sean suggested. Teflon tape only used on small pick up nipple if it has not got o ring.

RE: Need help plumbing a Kevlar tank
No don't use hysol there. You can use Teflon tape on the nipple.

RE: Need help plumbing a Kevlar tank
You will want to give the area you are going to apply the fitting on the tank a light sand. I use hysol to glue the fitting. Do not use anything on the tread as you have an o ring that does the sealing.

RE: Skymaster Mig-29 OVT twin turbine build
Levi one other thing. What percentage of down elevator did you go on your radio. I was starting at 5 % down which I do on all planes with flaps. I'm yet to fly any plane with flap that didn't need any down elevator on landing flaps. In saying this my Élan does have a lot at 15%. Would you think 5% for this plane is a good start point?

Dr Scoles, not sure why you would want ailerons mixed with elevator as there is no roll what so ever when the elevator is applied.

RE: Skymaster Mig-29 OVT twin turbine build
HI Levi, I have mixed 5% down elevator with landing flaps but have yet to test them out. On maiden I only used take take off flap setting for take off and landing. I still have some dialing to do on this plane so will check settings on next flight. What brand cylinders did you use and size? Do these new cylinders leak? Also how is you new beast going? You can send me PM if you prefer. Ivan

RE: Any one heard from Philip Avonds
Thanks for the reply. This was my thinking also but would have thought that I would have just gotten a reply after 10 days. However in saying this I do know he was having e mail problems so I'm not even sure if he got my email. This is why I posted in the hope he or a friend that knows him could give me an up date. Like most people who make orders MOST don't mind waiting if we are given the real delivery date even if its months away. However some do get concerned when you are told a rough date and it goes well passed with out an up date. All some people want is a simple up date on how much longer a particular part is going to take. Ivan

RE: Skymaster Mig-29 OVT twin turbine build
There was no mixing of ailerons and elevator as yet. I don't have any experience with this and would rather get some advise from someone who has done this before I go in the dark about it. As for the doors the front where perfect and didn't require anything, however the rear doors where a little pain. The two rear larger doors where the problem. One of them required a little trimming whith the dramel tool to open which I did before painting. The other door would open but not close. I found that when opened the little swivel arm was extending to far and was stopping the door from closing again. The little block that makes it stop seemed a little to far back so I added a small piece of match stick which I sand papered down a little and glued it in place. The arm now doesn't go to far back and straighten out which was causing not being able to close again. I also pump 130PSI into the cylinder system other wise the rear doors will play up. This is just my opinion but it does seem the rear gear door cylinders do leak a little and probably a little to small for the task. I will keep a close eye on them for now but next time I need to do an order in the states I will order Two BVM door cylinders for the rear. Unfortunately I have not found them for sale in Australia and the postage that usually gets priced for just two cylinders is a little ridiculous.

RE: Skymaster Mig-29 OVT twin turbine build
Just a quick update. I have maiden the Mig but only put one flight on the last day of the SA Jet Meet. The plane flew really well with no bad habits and trimming was plain sailing. Unfortunately I don’t have any Videos or picks but hopefully will get some when I fly it again at the next VJAA meet. (Weather permitting) One thing I didn’t like was the throttle digital trim on the DX 18 but after getting on my PC I was able to program the SD card and change this to 3 clicks to full trim. I find this a little better in the event of needing to shut the engines in a hurry but obviously everyone got there proffered preference. I had one minor problem on take off when I blew a hydraulic line which looked like a right engine out until landing. Lucky for me after doing some investigating at home to see what line blew and trying to determine the cause the line that blew did not effect the landing gear going down. My investigation came up that the line must have blown by being a touch to long and touching the engine after retracting. Unfortunately with the size and weight of this model I could not put it on the test stand fueled up and check the landing gear operation with the engines running. It’s the only check I didn’t do with this plane and as Murphy's law haves it its what failed. In saying this the gear was checked for operation on a test stand with out engines running and I never noticed any lines touching. IM really looking forward in doing more flights on this model and finish dialing it in to my liking. I also would like to Thank everyone who gave me advise on this plane.

RE: Jetcat - Fuel shut off
What a load of crap. If the pump is running flat out and needs to be shut off you want the valve on the suction side so there is no chance of the pump blowing a fuel line off and starting a fire.

Hi they are not imcluded. Use the festo ball valve as a shut off which can be purchased from Dreamworks models. As you said you should run one just in case. Ivan

RE: Horizon, DX18 and new TX choice
What's the go around with the digital throttle trim? How do I fix this problem? Its really the only thing I don't like about this radio.
ORIGINAL: bcovish
ORIGINAL: siclick33 These are the additional QQ functions that I could see a use for: •Switch between Function List and System Settings menus without powering off the transmitter •Program mixes of less than 10% can adjust in 0.5% increments •6-servo wing setup •Canard options (1- and 2-servo rudder) are available under tail type when the elevon wing type is selected •Program the throttle trim to function as a 3-position switch for turbine engine starts The bigger problem isn't really that I need these functions, but the attitude it shows towards their customers. Why withhold functions that they have developed? IMO they should really allow all DX18 users to update their transmitters but it wouldn't even so bad if they charged for the priviledge. At least that way I could choose if I wanted them or not. When there are other manufacturers offering free updates to their systems, I'll go with one of those rather than getting a DX18 that may or may not be upgradeable at the whim of Horizon.
With the latest software up grade to the DX18 (standard) you can now switch from the function menus to system menus without powering off the TX. There is a simple work around where the throttle trim goes from full down to full up in two clicks.
RE: Yellow Aircraft F18 tailpipe looking for
There are plenty of places where you can get your tailpipes from. The question is do you want a tail pipe which is going to last, and save your model, or you can have a crap one, and everything else in between. As far as I concerned if you want the best there is only one pipe master in this world so by it from him. TAMJETS is the pipe master Or you can buy a crap one, and look like this

RE: Skymaster Mig-29 OVT twin turbine build
Hello everyone, Just a quick up date. After speaking to Peter from Intairco about my issue with the different turbine temperatures I was asked to recalibrate the temperature. For those who would like to know how to do this read on. This calibration is for the Jetcat P140RX and im not sure if this is how you calibrate other Jetcats so please check before you try with other than the P140RX. The calibration temperature is 21 degrees Celsius and only this temperature setting should be used. I used an aquarium digital thermometer to heat my garage to 21 degrees Celsius. Once the temperature was reached I pushed the select menu on the ECU and turned the aircraft on. Your GSU will go into learn mode first but do not let go until the calibration comes on. This takes a little while but ones it comes on you can let go of the select menu and the calibration is done. The turbine will now be showing 21 Degrees Celsius. If however you take the turbine to a cooler temperature than 21 it will show the rite temperature and vise versa, however for the purpose of calibration this must be done at 21 degrees Celsius. Happy flying

Skymaster A10 1/7 scale
Hello, I would like to get the smaller A10 from Skymaster but was hoping to get some information from anyone who has this A10. I will be putting 2x 6kg turbines. How is this aircraft in scale quality comparing it to the bigger version? It seems Skymaster has used a lot of the same photos for the smaller version and the bigger version. Is the scale detail the same? How does it fly compare to the bigger version? Any modifications that should be done? Only interested in the smaller version so please don’t bother suggesting the larger version or any other brand. Thank you Ivan
