Here's a video of a GT2 conversion winning the A main 2wd sct race. http://www.youtube.com/user/Justin669B?feature=mhee#p/u/1/EozN1N9XVss I have a converted FT RC10GT from one of Robertpage's kits just no video of it. We have raced side by side and there is no clear cut winner between a converted GT and GT2 that I can see. I have 2 gt conversion kits that I would be willing to sell if Robertpage is no longer making them.

RE: For those of you whining about how Slash 4x4 isn't a good racer....
And if you ask me, that's where SCTs started their downfall. It became a class of ''Who has the most expensive, best-tuned hardcore race machine'' instead of the ''Out of the box stock fun'' class that it started out as. Now it's just stadium trucks with big bodies and skinny tires. It's lost it's charm.
Shortcourse trucks have started to downfall? Really?? All of the SCT's are right around the same money new, tuning is free with a little knowledge and time unless you're just throwing money at it hoping to make up for poor driving. Where I'm racing, shortcourse classes just keep getting bigger and bigger. 4wd is going to be huge this summer and is showing no signs of slowing down. The Slash still has it's own race, it's called spec racing and it's pretty much a new racers class or a second or third class for some guys. A modified Slash can be and is still competitive in the 2wd mod classes but it will need some work to hang with the other brands. Not everyone is in love with the way a Slash gets around a track or with Traxxas in general, to each his own I guess.

It a scam, not many questions about the item for sale but plenty of instructions and excuses. I wouldn't rip it up, take the "check" and all info you have been given to the Post Office or Police and let them see what they can do with it. Maybe they can catch these clowns or at least make the cost of doing business a little higher for them.

RE: 2 Stroke Double the power?
ORIGINAL: savagecommander 4 strokes dont have any more torque than 2 strokes. an engine reaches torque peak when the cylinder is filled the best, and it happens at a lower rpm in 4's than 2's. and compression ratio has no effect on power lost- it makes up what it loses. and yes, if an engine produces twice as many power strokes in a given time, it will produce twice as much power-and burn twice as much fuel. lets not try and clog the thread about who's smarter, or has been modifying engines longer or whatever- its not a contest.
It's a discussion on a public forum, not a clog the thread contest.

RE: Favorite Short Course Truck?
ORIGINAL: sloppyG really, it's not the slash is better at marketing, and traxxas is great at making videos to make their RC's look cooler than they are, but if you have access to both trucks the durability difference is pretty small, the performance difference is not
I disagree with this, I own a FT SC10 and a Slash and the Slash is much tougher and can be made a decent racer. The SC10 is a great racer set up correctly and can be made into a decent basher with some RPM parts.

Not exactly, double the power strokes doesn't mean double the power.
Agreed, but it does mean you can make the same power from half the displacement.

RE: 2 Stroke Double the power?
ORIGINAL: Nitro Racer 18 Would you need a 60cc 4 stroke engine to match the power of a 30cc 2 stroke engine?
There are some interesting answers. Technically, yes you would need double the displacement with a 4 stroke to equal the power potential of a 2 stroke. Every time a two stroke piston comes up in the cylinder it is a power stroke and it exhausts on the down stroke. A four stroke engine's piston goes up and down twice before a power stroke. So for 2 engines with the same displacement (2 vs 4 stroke) the 2 stroke will have twice as many power strokes as a 4 stroke. Four strokes make more torque sooner and can rev every bit as high as a two stroke. (think formula one engines) 2 strokes are lighter, have less moving parts and are easier to work on.

I don't think anybody should get a Duratrax, especially if you have $600.00 to get started with. The SC10 is a great racing truck when set up correctly but not the best choice for bashing.

Traxxas Slash 4x4 ultimate: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&P=SM&I=LXZEV3** Join the super saver club and you'll save an additional $60.00 off that price. Do you know how to solder? Have a soldering iron? Or know someone that does/can do this for you. The batteries from Hobbyking will need you to solder a battery connector on before you use them and the large wire size can make that a PITA if you're not competent with a soldering iron. If you are these would work great:http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=14991 if not:http://www.promatchracing.com/proddetail.php?prod=2505 These are out of stock though. You would need a LiPo compatible charger and power suppy if you go this route, but it's worth it IMHO.

RE: Storing Lipo's
Cold doesn't hurt them unless it's really cold (-40F) but they need to be warmed up before use. As far as leaving batteries at cutoff, it depends on where the LVC is set. If you're cutting off at 3.0v per cell than no, I wouldn't leave them for long without a charge. I like to buy batteries that are bigger (mah) with higher ratings (C) than I actually need so when I run a 6-10 minute heat/race I still have enough left in them to put them right into storage till next week without having to charge them before I'm ready to use them. Usually 3.5v to 3.8v per cell. The most I've personally seen a LiPo self discharge was an SMC 5200 mah pack I still have and use that lost .20v in one cell after about 3 months of sitting with a storage charge.
ORIGINAL:There was 1 question that didnt get answered though... Is it ok to leave them at the cut off point for a few days if you cant get around to charging them?
It should be fine. I actually have my ESC set up so the low voltage cutoff is at 3.6v per cell so I can run till I hit the LVC, remove and wipe down the battery and then I can just put it away till I need it again.

RE: Finally moving to a 2.4 radio
I made the switch to 2.4 based solely on the fact of no more frequency conflicts. There was nothing that aggravated me more than to be in a race and have someone turn on their radio in the pits and watch my fairly expensive toy go where ever it wanted to, usually resulting in a spectacular crash and colorful words being strung together. No crystals, no antennas, built in fail safe and more cars on the track at the same time with no conflicts. To each his own, IMHO.

RE: Wyotech v.s. UTI?
I got some Snap On tools for half price, about $500.00 worth but no toolbox other than what I have already. I'm working at a small engine repair shop but I was there before I went to school so the only thing that changed was the amount of money I now owe. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. I guess. One thing to remember about these schools is that you get a very basic education. Enough to get a foot in the door at a shop somewhere but don't expect to be the man and know it all when you're done with school. Sweeping the floors and taking out the trash will be a part of your new job till you get some real world experience. I've been working on motorcycles for 25 years already for myself and friends but decided to get some paper (diploma) backing up what I say I can do and life happened and things changed while I was in school.
