RE: TamJets A-4 problem tucking issue
i had two of the TamJet A-4s, both P-70 powered. my gray one was 19.5 lbs and flew great, the white was the light weight version and 18 lbs, it dug in hard in the turns even at full power/speed, took a 1/2 mile to turn around without dropping 300' of altitude in the turns problem turned out to be too aft a CG.
ORIGINAL: Didier ..........Yes they are overrated but the advantage is when the servo's don't have to work hard, they will not draw as much Amps compared to servo's that have to work harder!
that is incorrect. if both servos are capable of doing the job they'll both use the same power to do the same job, you don't gain efficiency by using over rated servos and in most cases the higher power servos will actually use more power because of their motor design.

RE: Comp ARF Lightning + 7xDS8911 servos = VERY HIGH BATTERY CONSUMPTION
That's why i say your PowerBox is having some software issues computing the mAh consumption. if it were mine, i'd send it back to have it looked at/updated. even if you somehow drew the full 2.7A load per battery the entire flight it would only be roughly 650 mAh draw per battery on that flight.
ORIGINAL: tassos p Consumption Battery #1: 1018 mAh Consumption Battery #2: 1009 mAh Min Voltage: 7.89V Max Current: 2.7 Amp So basically 2000mAh for one flight.
your powerbox is screwed up, if the max current was 2.7 amps, then it would take 40 min of flight time at a constant max current to draw 2000 mAh..........so if you are getting a 40 min flight, the cause of the high current drain is the weight of the fuel load :)

with the upper bypass installed you get better air flow and cooling around the turbine, especially at idle.

I've only got 1.5" of rudder and at speed it'll hold KE no problem at less then half deflection, at full deflection it snaps and does stall turns with ease so 2" is more then enough.

RE: Plumbing question...
ORIGINAL: Pete737 ..........I was told that orienting the vent tube into the stream is a good Idea..
maybe on a ducted fan with no pipe pressure but on a turbine the fuel pump is sufficiently strong to pull fuel and benefits nothing from ram air pressure on the vent. it's a one in a million shot (I've had it happen to a JetCat pitot tube) a bug can hit the forward facing vent in flight stopping it up, the fuel pump will then completely collapse the fuel tanks, if they are glass or Kevlar they'll implode, i don't recommend you have your vent orientated in such a way as it catches any ram air.

RE: Fiberglass Cloth Weight .. ??
ORIGINAL: SCALECRAFT Funny you should mention that. I'm working on one now. F-16. Kevlar will work too, and is way more impact resistant. And lighter. But I'm not going to use composites, I'm going to use ply framing to spread the load over a larger area. I may make my framing absorb shock as well in case of a hard landing. And I'm using epoxy resin, again, more inpact resistant then polyester. 99% of the Chinese jets are poly
I've owned just about every F-16 out there and only a few were polyester so which MFG's in particular are you referring to?
ORIGINAL: phjoker ........... Not sure what one to get or how to do it yet I have been doing alot of searching..
the two 24oz Dubro tanks mounted just in front of the turbine works best with the larger turbines requiring the wing tank for fuel. just a little velcro holds the tanks in place and when the wing is installed they can't move so you don't have to go crazy on mounting them. i use and prefer the Tam smoke pump to a single stick, i have the pump mounted to the bottom of the fuselage just in front of the wing saddle.

So regardless of the type of K.start (internal, external) Im going to Y after my fuel pump, 2 lines @ 4mm out of the Y, Each line goes to its own solonoid and from there one line goes to the kero plug fitting and the other to the engine fitting? Should I go into the Y at 6mm and come out at 4m, That is if there is a 6 x 4mm Y available? Thanks again! Pete
4mm from the pump all the way to turbine.

RE: Fiberglass Cloth Weight .. ??
ORIGINAL: soarrich Kind of a bold statement.
it's bold because it's true. carbon provides a much needed stiffness and load carrying capability to the area in which it is used. on jets we use it in high load areas around the landing gear as you're asking that area to take the force of a 25-50 lb dry weight aircraft and hold up to all landings, some of which may not be perfect. then again around the gear doors to provide stiffness and down the length of the fuselage to prevent flexing. when you've got 3 lbs of batteries in a nose cone that's 45 inches in front of the wing fiberglass alone will not hold up to the wind force of 200 MPH much less any G's being pulled. there have been countless episodes where carbon wasn't used and during flight a canopy / hatch openings flexed enough to allow the canopy / hatch to depart the aircraft, at speed the wind force into the fuselage after loosing one of those can/will causes a catastrophic explosion of the fuselage, it's not a pretty site. there's at least 14 pieces of carbon tow in Ed's pics that are for support of the flying load and not just to stiffen the fuselage.

RE: Titan general questions..
it's about 500 bucks for a new install kit less the ECU. (if you don't allready have a GSU add 200 unless you pick up a used one) you can save a little on that if you swap it to off board propane start......... allot of people use single channel (I'm not one of them) but if you do i recommend hooking up the Aux lead none the less to any spare channel (or even a Y). with single channel you just use the trim to kill the engine.
