RE: K&B Sportster Club
Well, you know I never thought of swapping out the exhaust on the left engine. But that would have looked cool. I'm not sure now that I've about got them broke in. These little engines do sound good together. But I discoverd a good/bad thing. They are extremely QUIET. If any one else is flying, I can't here if both engines are running. At any distance, I can't hear them at all. The .20's don't yank it vertically on take off, you have to let it roll-out. But it feels responsive after takeoff, my landings need much practice now. It's low speed maners are different than a single engine plane. It's Basically an over weight .40 sized aircraft and does not float in, you have to fly it down to the runway and flair it with some throttle still in, for touch down.

RE: K&B Sportster Club
Well I got my little Twin Star airborne this week. This has 2 Sportster .20's on it. Those little motors pulled it well, these were new old stock I bought off EBAY last winter. Not eaxactly sure how old they are but the paper work said to return them to Downey Ca., that was in the 80's I think. I'm using 9x6 props, this may be a little much. I'll try some 9x 4's and see how it gets around. While breaking in these motors, I was getting about 20 minutes of run time on those little 4 oz tanks. This plane needs some speed when landing though.

RE: K&B Sportster Club
Ooh, Yeah I bought a K&B 28 off Ebay that turned out to have 4 different types of screws, including a tapered head wood screw in the head. I was really mad till I looked at the single photo in the add. Everything was in the photo, I was in a hurry to get a good deal. The seller was going to take it back, but I decided to send it back to MECOA for a tradein. It had so many issues that it needed to be melted down instead of repaired . I think I had $ 15 in it with shipping. So now I have a NIB 28.

As far as performance hop up, seems I saw somewhere that a short stinger added to the muffler outlet would improve RPM on the Sportsters. Seems that the magic length was about 3".

RE: K&B Sportster Club
I am building a Twin Star I got this winter, I'm putting a pair of K&B .20's on it. Maybe should have went with a pair of .28's, but others were complaining about the smallish fuel tanks that are supplied with this plane. But they're putting .40's on it. It is a small plane, 58" wing. So we'll see in a few weeks. I know it's an ARF, but winter is over and I would rather fly.

I've gotten some good deals from E Bay and then I've screwed my self on a couple. I am just a sucker for the forlorn looking sportser, unloved, abused, abandoned and misunderstood.

RE: Need help IDing this engine..
Just caught your post about your FOX engines. I have several, you may check the liner to see if it is installed the proper direction, some did not have a pin to make you install only one way! If it is installed 180 out it will run but of course the port timing is all wrong.

RE: Hobby King Covering film any good?
I've covered a couple models with Hobby King Covering. It seemed to me to require MORE heat than Monocote, but once I adjusted to working with it I can't complain about and will buy more.

RE: A note to your shipping department
Looks like the box on an EXTRA 300S I ordered this summer! I also suspect the damage was done because it says MADE IN CHINA on the carton. But the FRAGILE stickers were punched and carton shorted by about 10", both ends crushed in. I suppose this gets even with hobbyist for buying Chinese models and putting all of the American ARF Mfg. out of business. But aren't we providing business to UPS?

RE: Massive damage on arrival (Resolved!)
Looks like they crushed the box length ways, the same thing happened to me about a week ago on a 140 EXTRA 300S. I've received two models with NO damage then they really smashed the last one.

RE: DAMAGE SHIPPING/MISSING PARTS ISSUES____Post here
TO: John @ Nitroplanes.com John, I just received the replacement 300S model today! It came through in good shape, I've inspected all contents and looks like everything is OK. I feel lucky to get this plane, I've drooled over it online since January. Thanks so much for your help and response to this order. I know things like this can and do happen. But you've shown me GOOD service here. I'll be back!

RE: Turnigy 26cc CID
I have two now, one I've been flying since late last summer. So far I don't have any arguments about it. It starts with a little fuss, but I think it's me, Choke untill it drips gas then maybe 4 or 5 flips till start. It took me some trial and error to get the prop right, I've run it with 16x8 and 17x6 seems to be the best for my setup on a Hanger 9 CAP 232 1/4 scale.

RE: Any recent experiences with FLT26 gasser from HC?
I've been flying one since last August, I'm running a wood 17x6 on my 1/4 scale cap 232, sorry I don't have any current RPM s. I've got about 2 gallons of 40:1 fuel through it now. It took me a while to get it dialed in for max RPM. I probably need to re tune it now. I bought a second one for another project. I don't have any other gas experience to compare it to. It starts reasonably well, Idles OK, transitions quickly. I'm not sure what else I want it to do, other than last for several years.

RE: are ignitions for ftl and dl engines interchangable?
I have a couple of the FTL engines, the ignition systems supplied with them are RCEXCELL units. So I would say this is what you're looking for.

RE: Corona Receivers...
I've bought two of the RP8D1 receivers from United Hobbies, and have been playing with them the last month. They are tiny. Getting them to latch up to my FM Art TEch TX went off without a hitch. I've ground tested up to 100 ft away with my antenna retracted and the receiver coiled. I haven't been able to activate the failsafe mode however. I probably need to spend more time to get that feature to work. When I get the failsafe to activate, I'll go flying with them. Oh, that antenna wire seems awfully fragile. Small size is tough for big fingers to hook up servos easily.

RE: FTL26 gas engines or XY26 experiences?
I've been running one (FTL 26) in an old Hanger 9 CAP 232 (25%) for two months now. I'm new to Gas engines and have been fumbling with correct carb settings and correct size prop. I think I have things lined up now. I'm running a 17x6 prop and getting decent power out of this new engine, I have only run one gallon of fuel through it. In fact I just bought another to put in a Goldberg 10-300 Bipe. This motor only weighs about two pounds. Construction is good, except for that large/ugly muffler. Virtually NO instructions, so you need to rely on this forum for any help or insite.
