RE: Repair aluminum...build exhausts
The bad thing is. The heat from the exhaust system will not let it hold for long. but it will work in some things

This plane was given to me and the fire wall is gone. I need to get one info on this plane to know if it needs some thrust or not. The one that gave it to me told me what it was but I do not remember. I do remember him telling me that it was a RTF.. All info will be helpful. Thanks Paul
ORIGINAL: airspeed1992
if you, captn and I are stuped. well I like it. I have one great time being stuped. My 1st engine I did was a homie 25. When I saw it run. WOW it felt good. I mad a vido and took a lot ot pics to show how ezy it is to do. I wanted people out there to try it out. Have fun and save some $$$$$$$. The last thing I wanted was to tell some one the hardest way to do somthing and have them say. I cant do that. I made my 1st mufler. It works great. It is very light and aluminum is not hard to weld with a torch and some alumo weld. Some people said that it will brake. It is very britel. Not yet. lol Make it simple and make it fun. If that is being stuped. I AM PROUD TO BE STUPED.
Man i think you so misunderstand combatpilot. He is a very large supporter of conversion engines and has many of the same goals you stated. I saw his plane fly at spadfest 09 with the ryobi engine and man it ran so strong. As far as telling you the hardest way to do something you so misunderstand. Its not that hard or complicated or expensive. Your the one making it all of that. He is not trying to make it hard but correct. I have tried his method and I can tell you it is so accurate. even if i have to adjust the timming from the recomended 28 degrees and i find a better setting i can then measure where it is set acuratly so if something causes me to have to tear my engine apart i can reset it exactly where it was. On the aluminum muffler with the alumiweld i dont think your gona have a problem with it if you used the stuff properly. I have looket at many $100 pitts style mufflers to find they are welded together with the same stuff. you can always tell cause the weld looks more like a solder joint than a weld bead. after they weld it the muffler is then bead blasted to give it a really nice finish to it. Open your mind i think you two have more in common than you think.
I have not misunderstood any one. Im sorry. w8ye has taken off the bad things that he had said to people that did not agre with what he said. And it is all ver with now. I am not getting in to it. Paul

Not 4. what you are doing is bring the piston up all the way. Let the compression leak off. then move it back and forth. You will see that it will be about 10 to 12. divide in 1/2 and that is TDC, set timing. run engine see what you get with rpm. Move timing to see if you get more or less. Set it for the best running that you like and your done. it is not that hard and no one will die with a off timing RC plane.

RE: Homelite 33cc
no i did not. i do know that it is less then my Quadra 35. i do have one here that is not done yet. i can put all the part on a scall and see what it comes out as. The last time i did a RPM run i got 8200 with a 18X6 prop. but that was with the old mufler. i made one last year and did not do a RPM check. So i did one to day with the mufler i made. The RPM came out to be 8652. not bad at all. Paul

RE: GAS/GLOW HOW TO....
ORIGINAL: av8tor1977 Man! I just don't understand why it is so tough to find this fuel. It is commonly called "Glow Fuel for Large Super Tiger Engines" and is made by ALL of the major fuel manufacturers. Byrons makes it. Morgan fuels makes it. (Seller of the popular "Cool Power Omega" fuel.) Sig makes it. RedMax Fuels makes it. And probably others that I can't think of at the moment. The problem (I believe) is that the hobby shops don't want to order it in for you so they say it doesn't exist. Print out some web pages from the suppliers and show them to the hobby shop owners. AV8TOR
Any one can get the ST fuel if they want to pay for 4gl and then pay the hazmat for it. I do not think that we will need that much fuel at one time. The hobby shops do not want to by that much fuel at one time. They know that no one is going to by it. I do not have the money for 4gl of fuel that would take me a very long time to use. That is why I get traxxas fuel. It is every were and wroks great. Some places you can get it with no problem but it seems like more and more places can not. out here were I live in a 50 mi radeas. I have 4 hobby shops. 2 out of the 4 has closed there doors. I do not think it will be long before the last two do the same thing. Paul

RE: GAS/GLOW HOW TO....
ORIGINAL: j_t01
ORIGINAL: hessian123 I saw the post mentioning Morgan Fuel's (10/12) Super Tiger fuel, but can anyone mention other 10/10 or nearly 10/10 fuels by name that are commonly available? I could get the Morgan Fuel from TH, but I always like to have multiple sources for things. Plus, I usually try my LHS first and I'd like to know what to ask for when I walk in there. I just picked up a 5-year old Craftsman line trimmer with a 25CC Poulan engine (I know, not the best for conversion) that's destined to go in a plane.
I could not find 10/10 fuel anywhere in my area. After a little research I found this place that will custom blend to your needs. http://www.s-whobby.com/fuel.html I placed my order at a very reasonable rate and received it in 3 days. I would recommend them to anyone needing fuel who can't find it locally. Jim
Car fuel car fuel car fuel car fuel car fuel. The fuel the run in rc cars at 10% to 11% oil. If The fuel can has on it. (do not ues for plane engines) It is 10 to 11% oil. Just get the 10% nitro and your all set. Now the oil is all caster so it is a little messy but not to bad. That is what I have been runing from day one. Works great and just about all hobby shops that does RC cars has the fuel. Paul

RE: Confused on paints
I use Rustolium in the spray cans. I use the Rustolium clear cote. I have Never had my fuel tuch it. I clean my planes up good when I am done for the day. I have one plane that has had Rustolium on it for about 15 years. It does take time for it to dry. When I do my 1st cote. I let it set for a day or two. Then put on my 2nd. I let it set for 2 day. I give the paint a lite sanding. Put on the clear and let sit for a week. It has worked for me. Paul

RE: GAS/GLOW HOW TO....
ORIGINAL: jadec241 Av8tor, Had trouble keeping the glow plug hot on my Hommie so I ran a clip-on cap from the plug to one side of a on/off switch. Then ran the other side to the positive side of a 1.2 2200 milliamp batt. then ran the negative side back to the engine. Now when I go to start the engine, I turn the switch on & this keeps the plug hot. When I finish running the engine I turn off the switch. Of course after a few minutes the engine gets hot enough anyway, but I still have a hot glow plug & I can remove the battery to charge it up.
What glow plug are you running? Paul

RE: GAS/GLOW HOW TO....
The thing about running this mix on a glow engine is that there will not be a nuff oil in it. The engines we run have berrings on the crank and it will run on the low oil If you do it to a ST 40 you will bern it up.

RE: GAS/GLOW HOW TO....
I tryed running it with out the nitro. I worked great in my 3W 42 engine but it did not work at all in my conversion engines, and my Quadra engines. All my Quadra and conversions engines have good compression and Bowmen rings. I have no idea why it work good in the 3w but not the others. I have just Rustolem paint on my planes and the nitro has done nothing to them. At the end of the day i clean my engines good too but no problem's with the paint. Paul
