RE: New to site and Helis
OMG!!! Man...where do I start this time I haven't even got anything in the air yet and more freakin issues. Here is what has happened just today....took my wife and went to Norburn hobbies as they had the same 450 package that my bro-in-law found online.....for $20 less and also don't have to worry about shipping costs, duty, etc. I was like *YA*, it is meant to be.........not so fast KRASH!! Anyhoo...picked it up and grabbed a decent Hyperion batt pack as well and headed home all smiles. Got home, opened box, wife watching, pulled everything out carefully and we both did the *oooh and ahhh* thing until I noticed something awry. The horizontal tail stab looked a little bent so I lined it up looking down the tail and saw the tail boom supports looked crooked too. At close inspection, the Hor. Stabilizer was bent and cracked and the whole tail assembly was twisted on the boom. Put everything back in the box immediately and headed back without the wife...grrrr...lol I got the the store and called the owner over and we opened the box to show and tell, so to speak. He shook his head at the damage and figured it must have been from transport. The box was a little messed up, he said, and he pulled the heli out of the box when he got it but not all the way out as he should have. Back to my kit ....after inspecting the stabilizer we looked around some more. Then we (me and the store owner) noticed a hole in the TX box that came from the stabilizer when the kit box was squeezed or maybe it fell during transport....dunno Either way....I didn't want it and the owner said not a prob except that was the last one he had!!! Back to square one again! Long story short, I did a total turnaround (cause I am soooo impatient now lol) and opted to go with ....wait for it....U all know it by now..lmao....the MCPX v2!! Yep...even though I had liked the looks of the 450 when I was at home, I was still thinking that I did it again and jumped ahead of myself and I should have gotten the lil guy in the first place. Well...fate or destiny or sheer luck...who knows, made the decision for me and I now have my own MCPX and a DX7s radio. On the radio side, the store owner was real decent and a kewl dude and didn't, at this time, have any DX's without the RX but he would take it out and sell it to me for the regular price. I thought about it and said, ya know what, I will take the whole thing as I might already have a buyer for the RX. He told me it was about a $120 piece so ...ummmm.....Kelvin....whatcha want to do.....I will let ya have it for $50.00 and that will put me where I wanted to be if I bought the kit without the RX....and you can be happy happy joy joy too...lol...pm me when ya get the time......geez...all this time and I should have been charging my frickin batteries....heheh.....thanks again peeps for the info and thoughts....I have only been here a week and I can see I found a great helpful site (tnx Kelvin) Oh ya, my wife seems as happy as me (even more so now that I got to credit back the card with $92.00 because of the exchange).so that is a good thing too Latah.... RE: New to site and Helis
Thanks again Mad and ATV....I trust your opinions already and I do believe I will also get an MCPX in the near future before I go far with the 450. (also, I don't know how long this deal will be offered on the 450 kit) And yes, I believe Goggles will be my instructor, so to speak, as he has already given me some assistance in getting this far already. I know he is into Nitro stuff, but I am sure there is not too much difference....a heli is a heli and flying it should be very similar to electric. Gonna sit back here with my java and search some more info....talk at yas later.... K

RE: New to site and Helis
Well here's the latest. Strange how things come about sometimes. Anyways, went to purchase the MCPX and a DX7s plus an extra battery and possibly a few other items when I ran into a slight problem. The TX he had was the package with the receiver included which added another $50 to the price that I was not expecting to see. I told the owner that most of the other hobby stores have the DX7 with/or without the receiver but he said he only had this one. He told me, as I have seen here in the forums, to just sell the RX as it was about $100 piece. But I just wasn't in the mood to try and find someone somewhere on the internet to sell it to so I asked him if he could just take it out and because of his contacts/clients, he could find someone to buy it easier than I. He laughed at me ...hmmmm wrong answer... so I told him he just lost a sale and slid all the boxes I had picked out and stacked on his counter towards him and left. Was a bit disappointed and traffic was a B***ch which didn't help the mood. But....I went home, sat down at the puter and started to scan the internet about the link I received from Kelvin...the Trex 450 sport plus super combo extreme edition XXL x 1000 GTS Pro......ummm sorry ... lol...yep...quite the handle but after researching more, I decided that it may have been a good thing cause I just don't think I would enjoy a heli that is as small as the MCPX.....main reason...in all honesty...my eyesight is not all that good.... so, I am going to go with the RTF package that Kelvin found. I know this is more than I wanted to initially spend but it has been cleared with the accountant (wife) and I am going forward with it. However, I do understand that I cannot just jump right into this so I am going to get a sim....speaking of which....Kelvin....in those spare parts of yours....do you perhaps have a sim I could buy off you?? Also, a pitch guage as I don't think there is one in that kit. Another thing, should I just do the online purchase thingy.....I know you said it doesn't take that long and that it's safe so lemme know and I will git er done!! Thanks to all who responded and ya never know, if I feel that I have bitten off too much, I will keep on trying, park the 450 for a while and maybe add the MCPX to my hangar along with a bit better radio than the one that comes with the 450 kit and train with the sim and the lil guy....all in good time... LATAH, K

RE: New to site and Helis
Well, here is an update, I have decided (meaning the wife...lol) to get an MCPX V2 tomorrow. I have been reading many posts and reviews and watching vids to help me in this decision. I am also going to check into a sim to help. It was suggested to me to get a TX that has room for future improvement so I am getting a DX7. Will be getting a few extras, as in spare parts, that seem to be a good idea, like extra 300 mah batteries (according to some vids I saw) tail boom, blades, possibly a better frame kit and whatever else I can afford at one time. On another note, I noticed that for first ventures into CP helis, a lot of peeps suggested the micro sized MCPX for a variety of reasons that worked for me, but, also suggested a bigger size (450ish) because of the stability associated with *bigger*. Because of this I was wondering what your thoughts were of this other *beginner-style* heli. I am talking about the KDS 450S. If this is a decent choice (there are a few different models of the KDS 450) I would appreciate some input as to whether or not it would be something to try. Is KDS a trusted/popular brand? Are parts readily available? Also, will it bind with the DX7 I will soon have? Oh yeah, I was also quite interested in the Blade Nano CP X that is out real soon...do you think I should wait and get that instead of the MCPX?? Just curious cause I have heard good things about the NCPX already. Thanks, K
ORIGINAL: Goggles I got some stuff that I don't need or use anymore that I can give you. And don't forget, Christmas is only 3 months, 12 days to close.
Ah yes Christmas...ya know what, Colleen is still thinking I had something to do with your comments to her at the BBQ/B-day party on the weekend. I had no idea what she was talking about when she told me that you told her that I needed a bigger heli...lmao...now her wife senses are on red alert. I gotta do this gently, slowly and without fear ahahaha. Actually, I was thinking, after talking with you, that I may go with the MCPX v.2 when I get the moola saved. Seems like a logical step before I go too big...we will see. Thanks Kelvin K

New to site and Helis
Heya peeps...I am new to rc helis and I have only flown a couple of coaxials (already pretty much done with them lol) and now I am on a 4-channel (mall store) Double Horse 9117. I know it's probably a bunch of giggles to you pros but I don't want to jump too fast and get caught in the money pit because of crashes, etc. I am 54 yo and retired with not many dollars to spare so will do the baby-steps thing...lol I do, however, have a family member (bro-in-law) that has already sparked my interest in bigger and better things when it comes to the heli world of 3D and such. His name is Kelvin Buck (Goggles, I think that's his screen name). My wife is his wife's sister. From what I can see, he is well versed in planes and now helis...wooohoo lucky me...heheh Anyhoo...I look forward to reading as much as possible in the beginner sections to pick up as many tips and tricks as I can before I purchase something in the 6-channel lineup. Btw, my nickname (KRASH) is a hockey nickname I have had for over 25 years but it was taken by some other members so I just added the KOPTER on the end....it has nothing to do with crashing ANYTHING!! (Other than the opposing hockey team players) lmao Thanks for reading. Glenn KRASH Myers
