RE: Red Wing, Pilot, Extreme Flight? First 3D plane.
Profiles are not about looks. They are about flying 3D and having fun doing it without the pucker factor.

RE: Would like to try 3d and wonder if my planes would work?
Learing 3d isn't real hard if you have the right platform to learn on. You are going to crash, many, many, many times and that's why you need something durible and not be scarred to get down low. IMO lower is better because you don't have far to fall. It's like old school nascar racing. Some ran close to the wall so the damage wouldn't be as bad if they lost it. Maybe just a dented side panel vs. a crushed frontend. I'm not sure about the Aero260. I have heard it's kinda heavy for it's size. Plus there is no tube in the fuse for dorkability. There are a couple of really good profile kits for the dle 20. I have a sbach 65 from The BalsaStore that is a blast to fly. There is also the mojo 65 from Swany, and the WWRC Sbach. RE: Would like to try 3d and wonder if my planes would work?
Primos and mojos are profile kits. Very easy to build and very durable. You can get them here. http://www.swanyshouse.com/index.aspx If you really want an ARF, the Sabre 47 is an excellent choice also for a saito 82 or 55ax. http://www.valuehobby.com/airplanes/almost-ready-to-fly/sabre-47-profile-3d-plane-arf-almost-ready-to-fly.html Foamies are really good to learn on, but on days with a little more wind, you'll want something a little bigger and that's where the balsa profiles come in.

RE: 3D Plane for DLE 20?
ORIGINAL: ThumbSkull The Aeroworks ProX260 is great at high speed aerobatics and sport flying. It is NOT great at low and slow 3D or tumbling. I would recommend building a Swanyshouse MoJo65 or Balsastore Sbach65. WWRC (Wrongway) is also just releasing a 20CC bird.
+ 1 on building any of the mentioned kits. It doesn't take long at all. Here's my Balsastore Sbach 65.

RE: Recovering
I like to use shoes and/or books to hold parts when covering. Plus I am partial to ultracote. Even if you don't get it really tight it still shrinks pretty good. The hobbyking covering is also very close to ultra.

If you want to get a little more out of any servo you choose, switch that battery out and go to 6 volt.

I don't charge mine all the way either. My dx7 has done some funky stuff with a full lipo charge. I usually charge to 12- 12.1 v. I recharge at 11.4v. on the screen.

RE: Why Is 3D Hated?
ORIGINAL: combatpigg It's more about the right set up than it is pilot skill. Anyone with average motor skills can do at least ''passable'' 3D. Very few able bodied RC pilots are unable to do 3D....at least to the point of basic hovering and some easy to do stunts.
I'm not sure if I totally agree with that. 3D involves using the rudder in which have seen a lot do not know how to do. I do agree that a properly set up plane will make it easier, but you still need skills and large ***** to do what the pros do down low.

RE: Which on to start with
Yep the mojo 60 is the bomb for learning. But if you need something smaller go for the mojo 40. The best thing about both is that you build them yourself, so that when you crash it ( and you will if you're pushing hard enough) you'll know exactly how to fix it.

RE: Like to convert gas to electric on the OMP 47
Go with a G32 800kv from valuehobby, Castle ice 100, 4s batteries 3300 - 4000, JFX 15x6 e prop. Lots of power with this set up, 7- 9 minutes flight time depending on how you fly.

RE: Just ordered a MoJo .60
The blocks with the three holes are for the" L " part of the gear at the top end. There's a "H" shaped block for the opening on the bottom of the motor mount. Only the H one gets glued, just run bolts through the 3 holes. Oops I forgot about the new mount. Yes glue all together, except the routed L blocks. Make sure all holes line up. Look at the primo 60 build manual on swany's site if needed.

The mojo 60 is so stable it will still will fly ok even tail heavy. Thumbskull is correct though with the cg. I couldn't tell you where I have mine at but I think I started around 6 1/2 and adjusted back to where it is hands off inverted.

RE: Airplanes yaws left uncontrollably when hovering
Yep, it shouldn't be a thrust issue. Most of my profiles have 0 degrees of right thrust and hover just fine. Right thrust does help a little. The 3dhs plane should have plenty of r/t built in already, unless something really screwed up at the factory.

RE: Airplanes yaws left uncontrollably when hovering
How does it fly inverted? I would set trims and CG to fly hands off for both upright and inverted flight. Then try from there.

RE: Beginning in 3D flight
ORIGINAL: jimmyjames213
ORIGINAL: tmproff Just so you know, most experienced 3d'ers make fun of the U-can-do series of planes. Get yourself a profile plane. To go a step further, skip the .40-50 sized profile and jump to the .60 sized You'll thank me....... Here is my .40 sized primo and my .60 sized Mojo.....The Mojo is 10X easier to hover than the primo.
how does the mojo .60 fly with the magnum .91??? enough power?
Maybe, but not perfect. Saito 100 and mojo 60 are a match made in heaven. It's the perfect combo.
