RE: Stuck in Woodland, Calif
Kmot, Woodland/Davis has a great flying field off of the 5 on Road 102. It is about 3 miles west of Hwy 5 - big sign. They are a very active club who has a Warbirds and Jet event each year. Google them and you will be able to find directions. Good Luck, KW_Counter

RE: Low cost charger - help!
Rendezvous, How come you seem to be the only one who knows Tritons are bad? I've had one for years and it has done its job well. Please explain your statement. Thanks, KW_Counter

RE: LiPo Charge Times
Barracuda, The current is all over the place, sometimes down to 100 mAh. I realize with the balancing it will do that. However, 3 hours seems excessive. The power supply is rated at 5 amps. Same thing on my 13 amp supply. Any ideas? Thanks, KW_Counter

RE: Building servo tray, Ultimate 40 Kit
McLina, I am very intrigued by the wing in your pictures. Currently I fly ARFs but have a kit ready to start. I have never seen a wing that was doweled like that one. What plane is the wing for? What is the purpose of the doweling? You appear to have a spar tying the halves together. Thanks for the info, KW_Counter

LiPo Charge Times
I have a Tritin II charger and an Electrify balancer. My battery is a 3 cell 2200 mAh. I set it to charge per the battery specs and it took 3 hours to do 1585 mAh. I realize that balancing causes it to take longer, but 3 hours seems excessive. Anyone else experiencing these kinds of times? Thanks, KW_Counter

Painting Engine Compartment
What are you guys using to paint engine compartments? It is exposed so I want some color; white is fine. I was using a spray appliance epoxy from WalMart. It seemed to work fine but after a year I noticed it bubbling. I am recovering the plane so now is the time to repaint. I tried dope - not happy. Thanks for the info and help, KW_Counter

RE: Did i ruin my batteries?
Aerofly, The Triton is a peak-detect charger. It is not designed for forming. However, if you cycle it several times, up to 10, you can get it to form. Getting a forming charger would be better. Good Luck, KW_Counter

RE: Test Stand
I have a table similar to that, the B&D Workmate. On the bottom of my test stand I but an upside down "T" Made out of 3/4" plywood. That gets clamped by the two table halves. My table is heavy enough I don't anchor it. If you have all of this why go to the field? I test in my driveway - the field is 20 miles away. Good Luck, KW_Counter

RE:
I get Model Airplane News, Fly RC and the AMA's Model Aviation every month. I think Model Aviation is the best of the three. I get more out of their Q&A, Battery and Safety articles than I do the other mags. I also like to know what the clubs around me are doing. It is an excellant magazine every month! Good Luck, KW_Counter

RE: Looking for Non Tapering Engine Mount
Non tapered are better for two reasons: As John said, so you can put a nut and washer on the bottom. Easier to drill a vertical hole in for the mounting bolts/screws. Good Luck, KW_Counter

If your charger is a wall wart then there should be no problem. If you are peak cherging there are differences that come into play. Good Luck, KW_Counter

RE: Question about indoor planes
FP, I fully understand. My closest hobby shop is 40 minutes away and he is mostly cars. The others are over an hour and over two mountains - not a fun easy trip. Yes, I do a lot of mailorder. Sometimes members in the club combine orders into one, especially from China. Good Luck, KW_Counter

RE: What was your shortest lived model?
Great Planes Dazzler lasted 30 seconds of first flight. I didn't like the plane while I was building it. Stupidly designed and poorly executed. It is repairable and I may someday. Sure left a bad taste in my mouth for GP products. Good Luck, KW_Counter

RE: HOW TO ACHIEVE STRAIGHT LINES OVER THE EDGE?
Dai Phan, Great Planes has to use Monocoat, they make and market it. You are right, it is inferior to Ultracoat. I'm finding more and more of their stuff and/or instructions to be inferior. And over priced. Good Luck, KW_Counter

RE: Fabricating, hardening and tempering wire landing gear
Is it really necessary to use music wire to make the floats mounting frame? Why won't softer metal rods work? I am talking in the 1/8" diameter size. Thanks, KW_Counter

RE: Hobbico Hot-Shot 2
I agree, it is a waste; especially to this Scotish Accountant. Unfortunately, they designed it to be a throw away item. It appears the top is glued or crimped to the bottom. Fortunately I got more than 5 years out of mine. Just be more careful in the future. Good Luck, KW_Counter
