Aluminum fuel pump
I remember a long time ago I have seen some info and ads regarding a metal (aluminum) manual fuel pump, very similat to the H9 design. It was king of pricy, in the $60 range. I have looked for it all over the net but can not find it. If you have any info, please let me know. Thanks.

Looking for broken JR ground radio.
Hello, I am a plane guy but I need help from the car/buggy crowd. I am looking for broken, busted, destroyed JR car radios like JR XR2i or JR XR3i. All I need is the lower part of the radio, the battery contact blades. I am modifying my JR 9303 and JR 378 Air radios to work like the ground radios with removable battry. I have done the same thing with my old JR 8103 and worked perfect. In the Air radios the battery compartment has the molded slots for the metal blades that make contact with the plactic 8 cell AA battery holder (like in the car radios) but the battery is connected with a white connector to the board. If I modify the radio, its a whole lot easier for me to replace the battery. I fly a lot and sometimes I discharge a battery in few hours. Changing the battery as is now, in time the white connector gets loose and contact is poor. If you need picture, I can send. My contact email is condruti@earthlink.net

RE: Do you want a Private Pilot license? Think again!
***UPDATE*** I have taken the training flight and have passed the practical test...I got the PPL now. Have talked to the school and they did the right thing in hepling me out, hats off to them. I should have talked to them before but I don't like complaining. MODERATORS I would like to have this post deleted in a few days. Thanks to all of you who posted here and incouraged me to continue.

RE: Do you want a Private Pilot license? Think again!
Have checked the Log Book and there is no such entry as "Power on Stall with 20 deg Bank"...most of the entries are general, few specific. Will also like to have the FAA look at my log book for accuracy. Talked to a few pilots that I know and mostof them agreed I got a sour deal.

RE: Do you want a Private Pilot license? Think again!
I have the Log Book, I always had it. Right now I have 70+ hours of training, from which about 15 hrs of PIC. I don't mind I have spent more than $14,000 for the PPL but I have a bitter taste of the whole experience though...If I did not have to go through so many CFIs and be "retrain" each time, the bill would have been lower by at least $2500. In order to finish, I need to take 1 hr with my CFI and learn how to perform "Power On stall while in a bank" and re-take the Check Ride for this Task. Not a big deal but this means another $500 which I don't have right now. - I have failed the oral Check Ride on the subject MEL (Minimun Equipment List) which I did not get instructions for...Took 1 1/2 hr ground school and passed the oral with no problms. -I have failed the practical Check Ride on the "Power On Stall while in a bank" task which I did not know how to do it (or what it means) since I did not get training for... So, twice I have failed in tasks I did not get training for. True, the examiner was very nice and indulgent since I did not quite perform within the PST all the time (+/- 100 ft altitude and +/- 20 deg heading) but I have realised the mistake and redid the task. I don't mind failing if I am not good, but I do mind failing task without training. Now I have to give them another $500?... When I complained to the GM, he said "...find me a CFI that is here than 6 months and I will give you only one CFI for training..." I WILL contact the local FAA Office this week and tell them the story. I wonder if I can take the Check Ride with somebody else in another place or am I tide-up to this place.

RE: Do you want a Private Pilot license? Think again!
Thanks to all for the support. Yesterday I got a call from the FBO to stop by today and talk. I have reviwed the oral part of the Check Ride and all was OK. Then, I was told "let's go fly for the Check Ride"... All was OK (the Examiner was very indulgent and nice) but I HAVE FAILED the Power On Stall with Right Bank task...so I have failed the Check Ride. I have to fly with my CFI to review this task and retake the Check Ride for this task only...All sound good but I don't have the $500 needed and I don't plan to continue at this point. Also for me, FAILURE is not an option, you get it from the first time or not and stop...Second place, second time is being the FIRST LOOSER!. With the price of gas, electric, food, etc today, I see no reason to waste another $500 for a license I WILL NEVER USE (not planing to buy my plane or rent any time soon at the cost of the plane rental today). I have a bitter taste of the whole deal and the way I was treated by the previous CFIs and I need time to reset mentaly. Maybe in a few months, a year will reconsider. I know I will have to retake the FAA written test and re-qualify for the Check Ride endorsment, but right now there is no other option. From the very beginning I had obstacle to overcome, maybe Somebody does not want me to fly, I get the message. I am debating if I should sell my model plane as well to get some money to pay the bills in the red. This week I will look around for a part time job in the evening or night to supliment my income and to pay the $15,000 I owe for the Flight School...so free time will be very limited or not at all. I will be arounf this form from time to time as time permits. Again, thanks to all.

RE: What are you paying for rent?
For a well used Cessna 172 in Mesa AZ (KFFZ) the rate is $125/hr wet and fuel tax. I am just done with flying lessons at the same airport and it took me 1 1/2 years, 69 hrs and $14,000 to get my Private Pilot ticket...I am just disgusted about the whole deal, a very bad experience...

RE: MODE C Transponders and altimeters.
Got it, thanks. One more question,...then what is the data port on the back of the Altimeter (encoding) for?...auto pilot?

MODE C Transponders and altimeters.
A MODE C Transponder transmits to the tower among other info, the ALTITUDE of the plane. If the altimeter does NOT have a data port in the back (is not ENCODING) and all it has is the static tube fitting, how does the Transponder gets the altitude of the plane?. At my home base is a Cessna 172 that was banged pretty bad and it was dissasembled for parts. The Altimeter did not have any data port on the back, but still the plane was fitted with a MODE C Transponder...I am lost now.

Looking for CG Sukhoi cawl.
I have the CG Sukhoi 26MX ARF plane but its missing the cawl. If anybody has one, please let me know. I am asking since I remember seeing people with this model having spare cawls. The model has been discontinued for a while and nobody has the cawl in stock. Also have checked the fiberglass companies and they don't have it as well. Attached is a picture of the cawl (copied from the forum for reference). Thanks.

True or not!? but funny...
Two California Highway Patrol Officers were conducting speeding enforcement on I-15, just north of the Marine Corps Air Station at Miramar . One of the officers was using a hand held radar device to check speeding vehicles approaching the crest of a hill. The officers were suddenly surprised when the radar gun began reading 300 miles per hour. The officer attempted to reset the radar gun, but it would not reset and then turned off. Just then a deafening roar over the treetops revealed that the radar had in fact locked on to a USMC F/A-18 Hornet which was engaged in a low flying exercise near the location. Back at the CHP Headquarters the Patrol Captain fired off a complaint to the USMC Base Commander The reply came back in true USMC style: Thank you for your letter. We can now complete the file on this incident. You may be interested to know that the tactical computer in the Hornet had detected the presence of, and subsequently locked on to, your hostile radar equipment and automatically sent a jamming signal back to it, which is why it shut down. Furthermore, an Air-to-Ground missile aboard the fully armed aircraft had also automatically locked on to your equipment location. Fortunately, the Marine Pilot flying the Hornet recognized the situation for what it was, quickly responded to the missile system alert status and was able to override the automated defense system before the missile was launched to destroy the hostile radar position. The pilot also suggests you cover your mouths when cussing at them, since the video systems on these jets are very high tech. Sergeant Johnson, the officer holding the radar gun, should get his dentist to check his left rear molar . It appears the filling is loose. Also, the snap is broken on his holster. Thank you for your concern. Semper Fi. Classification: UNCLASSIFIED Caveats: NONE

RE: Glow fuel prices?
I understand that any/all LHS are in the business to make money but when one LHS sells fuel for $13.00/gal and the other LHS a few miles down the road sells THE SAME fuel for $27.00/gal that is rip-off, not profit...and if I can not afford your fuel prices, how can I buy more planes (and use more fuel) that I can not afford? I have friends that are in retail business and a normal profit margin is 20-30% more than cost. If you buy fuel for $11.00/gal I have no problem to buy it at $13.00/gal and if you find the excuse that you bought the fuel at $22.00/gal...then its time to sell underwears instead of planes...at least we know where the smell is coming from.

RE: Glow fuel prices?
I finally got a gallon of 10% Coolpower for $15.00... I understand that everything is going up, but not bouble the price! Also I HATE when I am looking for something and of course, they don't have it in stock, but I get an ear full of reasons of why I should quit glow/gas and go electric. NO, I will not support your business and buy the stuff YOU want to sell.

Glow fuel prices?
How much do you pay for the glow fuel in your area? Have been flying for 5 years and always have used Coopower 10% and paid around $12.00 for a galon. I usualy buy 2-3 galons to last me a couple of months and recently I went to LHS to get my fuel...what a shock! Those are the average prices for Coolpower: 5%...$12.00 10%...$26.00 15%...$30.00 Most of the LHS in my area (5) are empty and complain of lack of customers/business...With those prices, I am adding my contribution to them being without business. Most of them want to push electric stuff to the customers and when I did a one-to-one comparison between glow and electric the price is almost double. They can keep their kitchen blender items behind the counter for now. Worst, I will find a way to transport my gas plane to the field, but I will not keep them in business with those prices!
