RE: Super Tigre G 90 Muffler: Lost front baffle
These mufflers do not come apart. You have to remove the baffle through the exhaust inlet using a stong pair of needle nose pliers. Grab the baffle and twist it out. If the baffle is not loose, you'll have to remove the rivet holding it.

RE: Super Tigre G 90 Muffler: Lost front baffle
I've been running my STs (75 and 90) without the baffles for 5+ yrs now with no ill effects. Just fly it and enjoy it without that rattling noise.

RE: Fuel Flow Problemo
If you still have no luck after trying everythinig Larry suggested, double check the lines to ensure they are not crossed. You might have the pressure line (normally going to the muffler) attached to the carb.

RE: Evolution .52 Engine
CG - First, let me welcome you to RCU! I get rid of the gasket and put a small amount of RTV on the muffler flange and that works well. When using the gasket, it has a tendency to expand and compress causing the nuts to vibrate loose. Just toss the gasket. Another trick is to re-tighten the muffler screws/nuts after the engine has been run and is still warm. Best of luck with this great hobby!!

RE: TD 09 Reset Tool
I finished making the tool, to include the anvil base yeterday. Tightned up the piston/conn rod slop and ran the engine today. Everything worked well and the engine again runs like a top. Thanks to everyone for your help! .........and yes, I too was amazed at how hard I had to hit the hammer in order to get results (even with piston on 30# anvil), but what a satisfied feeling when everything works as it is supposed to. Again Thanks!!

RE: TD 09 Reset Tool
Aspeed, I found an 049 reset tool from Cox International at a reasonable price, but they had no tools for the TD 09. You mentioned resetting an 09 using a home-made tool for the 049. Do you thing this store-bought 049 tool will work for the TD09? I'm hoping the ball joint dimentions are the same and the only part of the tool that would not work is the base holding the piston. I can make that fairly easy. What are your thoughts?

RE: Batteries, what the?
Your battery is looking good if your getting an initial voltage reading of over 6v for a 4.8v battery. It is not uncommon to lose a few tenths of a volt initially, and after a couple of flights the volatge should read at, or above, the battery's rating. In this case 4.8v. In fact you should be able to fly after the voltage dropps to 4.6v. With a good battery, properly charged, you will notice its voltage will stay at the 4.8v for a good while before dropping below 4.8v. Now the main thing I noticed with your post is you're not getting the best charge for your batttery by charging at the 125 ma rate. Even for an onernight charge you should be at least at a c-10 charge rate. In this case 240 ma. I usually charge at the c-10 rate plus 10%. That equates to about 265-275 ma, depending on how accurate your charger is. These batteries can take a higher charge rate, but I like to baby my batteries and charge slow in hopes of battery longivety.

RE: What Sandpaper Grit For Final Finish
Chuck I agree with both David and OSG, although you could go as fine as 401-407 grit [8|]. I have used 600, but noticed no difference after covering between the 400 and the 600 grit. Show pics when you're through Good Luck!

RE: wire safety clips?
Les You make a good point I haven't considered concerning the thread breaking during a crash. I always use dental floss and I can see that this wouldn't break like the thread. [:@] I might have to change my way of doing this, although I have enjoyed cavity free connectors. [:D]. Again good post!

RE: lateral balance Question
Sounds like you have it balanced "on-the-money". Most low winged planes should be balanced inverted to provide stability performing the CG operation, for both lateral and longitude.

RE: Can Servo Handle 2 Rods on 1 Horn (same side)?
Dean, No problem putting both the rudder and nose wheel on the same side of that servo. I suggest putting the rudder on the outermost servo horn for max deflection and place the nose wheel on the inner most for min deflection. The nose wheel doesn't need to turn more than about 10 degrrees. That's a great plane ENJOY!

RE: Need Help with Hinge Repair in Hard to get at Places
My recommendation is to make two Monocoat hinges. One in maroon and one in white to match your color design. You won't have to cut, or disassemble anything. Well.....I would cut any excess broken hinge, but that'll be the only cutting needed.

RE: TD 09 Glow Head Conversion
Thanks Gents for all this great info. I took stock of my parts after I resurrected an old TD 09 I use atop a power pod for an Olympic glider. I noticed I have two glo heads, and while I haven't burned any out, I started thinking of my options should I find myself in need of purchasing one. I enjoy modifying, customizing, tinkering, etc.... and your suggestions will go a long way towards that end.[;)] Thanks again [8D]

RE: Coverite trim iron
ORIGINAL: JohnGilmore
ORIGINAL: FlyingPilgrim I have used both, and prefer the TF trim iron over the Coverite. The Coverite has a slide temp control, which I frequently moved by accident, changing the temp. I ended up putting a piece of tape over it to keep it in one place. It was also larger, and I found it to be cumbersome/clumsy. It is of good quality, but I just felt more comfortable using the old TF unit. I do prefer the Coverite full size iron over the TF full size iron though. Just one guys opinion... [:D]
The Coverite has a slide temp control? Check the pictures of my Coverite iron. Where's the slide control? Thanks for clearing this up for me 'cause sometimes I can be pretty slow ...
John They're talking about the "trim" iron having the slide control, not the full size.

RE: Balsa and Temperature changes
Living in central Georgia the temps fluxuate from below freezing to well into the upper 90's and slightly above 100, with high, I mean HIGH humidity. It's not uncommon to have humidity into the 90% range. My fleet of planes are hung in the garage by their tail-feathers and the only issue I have encountered is to slightly tighten up the covering every couple of years.
