Baja 24mm rims on LST?
Hey everyone, I've seen a guy running baja rims and tyres on his savage, they look fantastic: They are genuine HPI and proline bits. Found out they're $100 for a set of two. Might try these... http://www.predatorrc.com.au/wheels-tyres-road-style-rears-p-771.html I know they're rovan and rovan is $h1t, but it's just rims and tyres. They look sweet in black, I reckon. Does anyone make a 24mm hex adapter set for the LST? I know proline made them for the revo back in the day where 40 series rims were 24mm, but 17mm has been the predominantly used size for years. anyone know if these will fit an LST? I can't see why they won't. Just making sure.. http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/cPath/1_25_1459_152/products_id/165182/n/HPI-24mm-Aluminum-Wheel-Hex-Hub-Set-Gray-4

RE: LRP .32!!
Has anyone bought one of these things yet? How do they go in an LST XXL and are they a direct drop in? I'm assuming the 454 backplate will fit it?

RE: Do any proline tyres fit on Losi 420 wheels?
I had Maxx Mashers on one of my revos, they are a great tyre. They come in 40 series, too. I wish proline would make a 40 series badlands, though. They would grip so well in the grass and dirt, I reckon. I remember years ago integy was selling preglued 40 series rims and tyres, lots of good reviews about them. I'll have to have a gander! I just want something that's going to grip better than the stock tyres. They seem great for an all around basher tyre, but I'd like something with more bite. I found out the XXL does wheelies, but it would be much easier if the tyres wouldn't spin all the time, lol. I'm just working out some mods for when I do an overseas order. Won't be for a while because I've got about a grand in vet bills lined up for the near future :( I'd rather keep the stock wheels if I could, I don't mind them and I don't really feel like buying new rims if I swap to 17mm adapters as well as tyres, so I'm trying to work out what fits.

RE: Do any proline tyres fit on Losi 420 wheels?
ORIGINAL: HerrSavage Any of the 40 series will. Big Joes for ex.. Which btw are much lighter than the stock tires. I still have my stock tires after five years though. I like them. They last forever, and you can abuse them on ALL surfaces without screwing them up, and the tread just never goes away. I had some Big Joes but sold them unused because I thought it would have been a shame to shred them up on pavement. The stock tires are really good all-rounders.. They just weigh a ton. I think I heard Proline was coming out with 40-series Badlands, but not sure. Badlands are awesome - but again, not for pavement...
Thanks man. It surprises me that big joes are heaps lighter than the stockers, they look chunky as! I like the stock tyres, I would prefer something with a bit more bite, though.

Do any proline tyres fit on Losi 420 wheels?
Hey guys, just got my XXL recently. I was just wondering if any proline tyres will fit on the stock rims? I like badlands, but I doubt they'll have any chance of fitting. Any suggestions? Cheers!

RE: My new XXL. Some questions!
I put this on before I ran it, but I didn't get a pic. Today I ran some more and it's got almost 1L through it now. I cut the windscreen out with a stanley knife, as I didn't have my dremel. The stock body is really thick, it's as thick as a proline body. It impressed me for sure. Turned the windscreen into an extra bit of protection for the rear. Wound the springs right down so they actually work until I rebuild them and put some stiffer springs on. I'm happy with how it handles still, it handles much better than a savage even with the springs set stiff and the ride height increased. I actually nearly flipped it over on grass, it did a wheelie haha. I'll have to see if I can make it a constant thing once I start to lean it out. I'm committed to a picco now though, as fluffy has ordered a backplate for me in an order of his, shouldn't have any low end grunt problems with that! I was right, the heat of the engine really loosened the screws up. I cracked one, but it was cold again by the time I went to crack another and I didn't want to push it. I'll just grab a butane lighter from the tobaconist next time I'm out. SO impressed with the brakes on this thing, I was endoing it everywhere, flipped it over once :P Can't wait to put a real engine in her and start bashing!!!

RE: My new XXL. Some questions!
Cheers HerrSavage. I have a really well set up 1/8 truggy and have tons of spares, I'm sure I'd have what's needed to convert to 17mm, although I don't really see the point at this stage as I don't mind the stock wheels (wouldn't mind getting some sort of badlands on them though). If the chrome flakes I'll get the oven cleaner onto them and RIT dye them black. I'm sure it will wheelie with the right engine and suspension set up, I'd say with the right set up, it would go close now and I've only put the engine through 1.5 easy tanks. Time will tell, I'm very excited. Make a ramp, I remember years ago seeing pics of your skateboard ramps and they seemed kinda small, I have those myself and prop them up, then have the best of both worlds, a huge park and jumps :D Flimflamman, it will be good to see a new XXL on the block, it seems like not too many people own them, or at least they haven't documented it much on YouTube or the forums.

RE: My new XXL. Some questions!
Cheers bud, the XXL doesn't have high and low range, just fwd and reverse. I do know how to tune, been into R/C for years :) I put close to two tanks through it today, the needles were like 5-6 turns out!!! I set the LSN to about 2.75 turns out (a bit richer than advised, because 2.5 made it run a bit lean, probably the weather) and the HSN to 2.5. I must say, the 454 really impressed me. Despite running pig rich and only giving it a small amount of throttle, I can tell that it will move the truck around with ease. The tyres were sliding on my driveway, which is concrete and was dry at the time. I think that the truck would wheelie with a different set of tyres, a stiffer suspension setting and a slightly tightened slipper. Anyway, it would idle all day long and seemed to have quite a bit of power. My GF might be buying me a picco though, so I won't say no to that :P I've got a course to do for the next week, so it will be finished off next weekend.

Traxxas fast charger
Hey everyone, just having some issues with my traxxas fast charger, when the battery is originally connected, the charger flashes indicating a fast charge, but this only lasts for about a minute and the light goes solid, indicating that the battery is charged. I plug my battery in and my DX3S tells me that the battery only has 3.4V. Is the traxxas charger still charging when the light is solid, just not at a fast rate, or am I missing something? Cheers

RE: My new XXL. Some questions!
Thanks mate, I've had wings on my MT's in the past and they work well with crowd pleaser type bodies, I dunno if I'm too keen on them on LST's. I'm going to try to turn this one into a pickup truck looking thing. I might put a wheelie bar on it if I have too much of an issue :D Do you think it will wheelie with the 454? Every youtube video of the XXL I've seen indicates that it won't.

My new XXL. Some questions!
Hey everyone, I got a new XXL a few days ago, I've been into R/C for years, but I've never owned an LST (even though I've wanted to for ages). I finally bit the bullet and got one after searching for one all over south east qld. Anyway, I have a few questions... How good is the 454 engine? I plan to put a picco .28 in it in the near-ish future if I'm not 100% happy with it. I've been driving truggies for a while, but before that I had revo's with picco .26's and they were VERY fun with wheelies and things. I have bought a new era roll bar and a dynamite engine brace. I took the engine out tonight to put the engine brace in, but the screws are loctited so hard that my allen key twisted into the shape of a drill bit. So then, I got my screwdriver with interchangeable bits and put on a bit that fit those screws and snapped the end of the bit off into TWO of the screw heads. Now I can't get them out. My plan is to just put the engine back in and break it in, hoping that the vibration will rattle the bits out of the screw heads and that the heat will loosen up the threadlock a bit. Do you guys think it will? OK guys, we all now what a stock LST looks like, but here are some pics for you. I'll get some nice ones in the sun before I break it in, the iPhone takes much better shots outdoors in the daylight. I know you all wanna see her naked ;) Got flex? Hey everyone, I don't usually cheap out on electronics but I decided to be the guinea pig with one of these. It doesn't come with a manual, only a mini disc... RE: Revo Platinum
Thanks man, it's been a LONG time since I've been into R/C properly, the picco .26 revo was new and I built it up with savings (I'm a student) and it's probably my favourite R/C that I've owned, I hope my Jammin is better though. My Jammin is in this forum, just got the cash to get it going again. The revo is a great truck, I just hated the tie rod ends popping/stripping after a hard bash! I had a savage 25 limited edition 3 speed, that thing was tough but didn't do much for me, and I started with a hyper 7, probably the toughest RC I've owned. I went back to *uggies because of the durability, but you really can't beat the fun of a revo. Watching it hit second gear and throw the fronts in the air is so cool, it's rather durable and it jumps really well. Just develops a lot of slop. Why did you go from a buggy to a revo? Or do you still have the RC8?

RE: Revo Platinum
When I got my first revo, I didn't even break in the 2.5 engine (I got the 2.5 because I like the shorter wheelbase for bashing), I put the 26 max engine in straight away with the stock gear. Broke it in, took it to the BMX track and had a little rollover and snapped the header, because the rear body mounts flex into it and the headers are weak as. There are rear pipes out there that have tougher headers, but rather than breaking, it just bends eventually. The side pipe is a good idea with a larger engine as it allows it to breath excellently, the 053 REALLY woke the picco up. I can't remember if I ran it on the revo with the 323... I am pretty sure I did. The side pipe is SO much more durable. You already have the tekno style t/b servo mount with the platinum, so on the front part of the TB mount, you just get a way longer bolt and wind it through, then stick a pipe hanger on the end again. It is SO much more durable. I'll get some pics of mine.... Here is the 323 revo (yes I did run the sidepipe on it) and here's my favourite one I owned, the .26 max revo In this picture, if you look carefully you can see the pipe hanger on top of the end of the mounting hole for the t/b servo mount. You'll have to trim the body to fit for a sidepipe: If you're going to go sidepipe, get a hardcoated one, not a polished one. The hardcoated one was on my trucks for AGES and never got chipped by rocks, and I run on gravel. I did backflips with this truck all the time and never had any problems with the sidepipe. No problems about the questions mate.

RE: Revo Platinum
Yeah mate, the picco is a direct fit. I saw the red dot versions just before I got out of RC a while ago, you could go with one of those but honestly, the normal picco .26 will haul ass. It is probably going to be hard to race with, if you don't have a CD. You'll be doing wheelies everywhere without the right suspension/tire set up and the right gearing. I'm sure it could be done though. It will definitely put a huge grin on your face, though. BTW, revo's aren't truggies, even with the CD in them lol.

RE: Revo Platinum
I've had two revo's, one with a picco .26 max and one with an RB 323. I had the .26 max sidepiped with an 053 pipe. It was brutally powerful in the revo, once it hit second gear it would lift its front wheels! This won't happen to you though because you have a CD. The 323 was pretty powerful, also, but I don't think they are easily available anymore. The .26 max is a great engine, might be a bit of a handful in the revo on a track, though.

RE: What to do?
Had a look at the CRT and decided that with everything that's on it (BCE chassis, Small spur conversion, king heads chassis braces, dace mfg 4mm shock towers etc) that it would be a way better truck than an out of the box rtr 8ight. I have a starter box and here's what I need.... 12v Gel Cell battery for the starter box (my old one would be dead) Hump pack (old one would be dead) Rechargeable glow ignitor (you guessed it, old one would be dead) Backplate for the M427 2.4ghz radio, was gunna grab the DX2S, anyone have any feedback on this radio? Fuel Loctite OS # 8's SOOO here's my question... I have the nub ground off the M427 crankshaft, so no matter what backplate I put on, I won't have any resistance and the extra weight of a PS/Spin start backplate isn't gunna worry me because I'm bashing it. (Ideally I'd grab a starter box backplate, but I can't find one on RCHobbies.com.au). So I was going to use this http://rchobbies.com.au/store/product_info.php?products_id=36807 and use this over the back of it to seal it from dirt http://rchobbies.com.au/store/product_info.php?products_id=36802 Is this going to work? Or will there still be a hole and create an airleak because there's no starter shaft to be sealed by the OWB? (I can't remember backplates that well) COULD SOMEONE PLEASE LOOK ON THAT SITE AND TELL ME IF THERE IS A STARTER BOX BACKPLATE THAT WILL FIT?! Here's the link to the backplate page http://rchobbies.com.au/store/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=Backplate&x=0&y=0 This should be the cheapest way, I'd say. I'll have a good basher in the end. EDIT If I have to, I'll order from amain and grab the gel cell, the ignitor and the easy stuff locally, but I NEED a backplate for the 427. I can't find anything on amain either, I know the sportwerks .26 backplate fits it, but they don't sell it anymore. Do amain have any backplates that fit the 427? Please help.

What to do?
Hey everyone, I've been out of RC for a long time, due to financial issues. Recently I've come into a fair bit of money, a large portion of it is going to veterinary care and the remainder I have to play with. I want to get an RC going again to bash around the property I live on and maybe in the future take to a few track days. I already own an X1 CRT with a BCE PJ2R chassis, DACE MFG towers, one piece engine mount, etc. I need a radio, backplate for the M427 (which I cannot find in Australia) and batteries for the starter box and other stuff. I am considering sourcing the stuff to get the CRT going OR selling it and buying and 8T 2.0 RTR or an XXL LST. Keep in mind I want to bash and want durability (one of the reasons I left MT's to go to uggies in the first place). I've been out of the loop a long time and would like to keep this as cheap as possible. crt pics I have a ton of parts for it, which makes it ideal for a basher. I just have no idea how much it's gunna cost me to set up. I need (from what I can remember, there's probably more) Backplate for 427 (the crank is grinded, so if I just use a spin start backplate ((which I can get in Aus)) it should be OK, correct?) Battery for starter box, not sure what I need Rx/TX (spectrum 2.4ghz is a must) I'll be getting my stuff from www.rchobbies.com.au (I would usually import from the US but shipping expensive atm). Would you guys be kind enough to see if I can get the engine details sorted from that site? Pretty sure I would be best sticking with the CRT, but the allure of a new truck is nice LOL. Regardless of what direction I go, anyone got any info on the 8ight T 2.0 RTR or the XXL LST (obviously I couldn't race the latter).

8ight T RTR for bashing.
Hey guys. It's been a LONG time since I've posted here. Some of you may remember me, I had a fully worked revo, a savage and a hyper 7 all at different stages. Anyway I've been out of the game for a long time and I need to get back into it. I've finally come into some money so I want to get an 8ight T rtr trug. I like this trug because of the electric start (I hate pull, it's either roto or starter box for me) and the spektrum. I had this radio on my revo and I loved it. What I want to know is, I've heard about some trouble with the throttle servo blowing up but I heard it can be fixed if you set the linkages JUST right. Is this true? If it is, is there a tutorial on how to do it? Is this truggy as durable as a hyper 7 buggy? I want to get back into trugs and bugs because I love the durability and tunability that they offer. Even though I don't race (not close enough to a track) I still like messing with camber and caster adjustments and really fine tuning it. I want a truggy though because I want the big tires for backflips and what not if I want to go a little crazy. Is this a suitable truck for bashing? Are there major weak points or flaws apart from the throttle servo? Also, does the stock steering servo suffice until I have enough cash to upgrade it to a hitec 5955? I am only 16 and my money goes to motocross, I can't really afford new electronics and upgrade parts just yet. Thanks everyone.

RE: Best one for serious bashing?
ORIGINAL: Jerzferno Exactly. The Inferno is a pure racer. It would be a terrible injustice to buy that one for bashing. Since I race my Inferno, and all my other models for that matter, I couldnt tell you which is good for bashing. See which one is the most reliable, or most indestructible? Bashing equals broken parts.
I'd say from his list that he doesn't want to spend a whole lot of cash for a basher, which is why he would be talking about the Inferno 7.5 Sports RTR. I would highly call this a "pure racer".

Run at the track, tear the buggy down, try new set ups. You will pick it up very quickly.

What's the point of swapping the spin start for a tiger drive? The point of a starter box is to remove the one way bearing, therefore less problems with the engine with the OWB catching.

You could buy something cheap for steering to start off with, a Hitec 5645 and then you could move the Z590 in the steering now to the throttle/brake and keep the 270 as a spare.
