Thats what they call the first Friday after Thanksgiving. Considered one of the busiest shopping days of the year and the "official" start of the christmas shopping season...

Yes the stock K4.6 is a pull start. Parts are pretty easy to get. Though the truck is pretty durable so you probably would need too many of them. [:D]

Im having a problem with my steering. I cant get the wheels to turn as far to the right as the do to the left. Im not sure if its a problem with the servo or something with the bell crank. Anyone else have this problem?

straick if you check back a few pages you will see some pictures of my throttle set up. I think the ofna horn gives more braking power especially when used with a high torque servo

Yep it uses the regular silicone adapter. If you check out ebay you can find them used sometimes pretty cheap. I paid $20 for one and I think $40 for the other small block one I got. They seem to work well.

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread
Straick THS makes a decent pipe, trinity, BUKU, CVEC if you can find them. It all depends on what you are looking to get. Higher speed or more torque. There arent as many options as there are for big blocks but there are a few. As for the OS you will need a two piece engine mount. You can get the HPI one or the Redcat Racing one. The Redcat is cheaper and works great. .26power, taller buggy tires will increase top speed but you will give up some acceleration. If you are running a BB in the MT2 you wont even notice the loss though. As for the diff, maybe the center diff from the redcat aftershock?

I installed the hinge pin upgrade tonight and it should make a pretty big difference in the rear end. No more shafts unscrewing and sloppy rear a-arms. Ill take some pictures tomorrow

Nice work syco. Any chance of getting more pictures of how you mounted the motor? Im thinking about converting one of my MT2's to electric but the motor mount has been slowing me down.

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread
OS is probably the best bet. The CVR is an excellent engine but if you want pure POWER get a TZ. Even the brushless trucks wont be able to keep up with the TZ. But with that much power you are going to need good tires or you'll never be able to control it. Any pictures of your cars?

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread
Hey towns welcome back. The MT2 does pretty well on the track with the right tires. The stock yokohamas dont hook up very well. Depending on the track surface you are running on you will probably want some sort of pin type tire. Aside from that it will just need to be tuned to your driving style and the track. Are there any restrictions as to what engines you can run?

Great info there stuss. I dont think the pin broke. It looks like it just worked its way out. The pin was sticking partly out of the shaft. Im going to take a closer look at it tomorrow.

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
No problem. Everyone had a first time. Take the head and the back plate off. Turn the crank so the piston is at its lowest then slide the piston shaft off the crank. The piston will come out the top of the head. After that you can take the crank out the back. Just curious why are you taking it apart?

Its pressed on. take the pilot nut off and then if it doesnt just slide off you can tap the back side with the handle of a screw driver. Shouldnt have to tap it hard

right. It could be the spring or it could be the arm that actually grabs the clutch. There isnt much to the two speed clutch assembly so troubleshooting is pretty easy

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread
lol. 2nd gear engages when the rpms cause the clutch to engage. It has to be that the clutch isnt engaging. Either the ears are sticking or the RPMs arent getting high enough

First gear doesnt actually release. The clutch just engages 2nd gear. The engine was getting up to RPM right?

When you say it shifted to 2nd 3 times, do you mean during the same time running it? Or 3 separate times/days? When you cleaned the clutch was there a lot of dirt stuck in it? Were the springs in good shape? They sell a rebuild kit for the 2 speed.

I tried the JP-4 and it didnt really seem to do anything for the engine. Im testing a Hyper .21 on it now. I didnt get to run it long yesterday before I lost a pin from the rear CVD and I stripped the steering horn. So I couldnt tell if it made a difference or not.

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
Since its used I would check the shock fluid. Check and change the diff fluid. Also check the clutch shoes and replace if needed. Check all the screws on the front supports and braces. They come loose pretty easily when bashing. The hellfire is a good jumper. Though I find it tends to nose dive if you dont stay on the throttle. If you are planning on doing any kind of racing, even just messing around, you might want to look into different tires. The stock ones are good for bashing but they dont hook up all that well on hard packed dirt. I thought there were a few tracks in VA? Try doing a google search or check out some of the other sites that have "where to bash" sections.

MIght have been a very hard landing at WOT. The hellfire shafts are pretty strong. Its hard to bend them. I dont think there are any aftermarket shafts that are going to be any stronger. What kind of engine is in it?
