I am planning on going to OKC and hope to have the Mod ready to run, yes I would like to get a name plate etched on the grudge trophy. I have to do some serious test time with the sd3 and get it running. I have some props to get done and think that will make all the difference in the world.

I still have a lot to do still, I decided to take the cowl scoop off and that will take a lot more to get it looking right/ The front box was very easy to make. balance at this point is right at the back edge of the turn fin. Jerry I decided to go your route on the bottom instead of shaving the entire center section down by half. I have to tune up my tank building skills next. Got Sam's new stock boat ready to go as well.

This is an very detailed article that i would suggest also http://www.simplicity-marine.com/surfprop.htm I am sorrry it really won't say a lot about rootertails but it will sure explain the difference between cavitation and venalation as well as a lot of other stuff. propbably one of the best propeller information (surface drive) I have seen. RE: AquaCraft U-18 Miss Vegas Hydro Thread_Make it Fast!
sounds like tj. I have seen a electric MV go a crack over 50 for short burst. not a lot of tweeking was done to refine the set-up. It was extreemely heavy and really somewhat glued to the water most of the time. I think there is a video someplace of the boat but i don't think it was of the 50+ run. The guy that put it together races mainly open class stuff and did the vegas as a quirk. It would have been interesting to get the boat up clean on the front sponsons and really cut loose. I think the weight of the boat would have been very difficult to turn at spped...it did a lot of spinning out. Sean has the fastest running vegas (cvr .18..no sponson mods) I have seen and I think to go much faster some mods on the topside.....wing and cowl scoop....would have to be worked on to get much over 50 with a .18 a good hot 21 set-up probably could get over 50. I have thought about JD's sponson mod and thought about ending the running surface about 3\4 of an inch foward of the existing sponson. would this not create a ground effects turbulence under the sponsons thus using some air...which is cheap...to make the weight on the ride points lighter? I like the idea of moving the prop back from the transom an inch. I think the center section is a MAJOR source of drag...I plan on reducing that by at least 1\2......not by planking the outside but by adding material to the inside and sanding down the outside (I would hope to reduce center section with out adding any weight, (hydro junkie reminded me of that one time).....loose the cowl scoop....put on a speedmaster mini hydro rudder.....or something thinner anyway (definately a couple MPH here) with a internal cooling pick-up, I think a tube hanging down is major drag. look at everything that has potential to drag in the water....think about the effects a small weed has on your speed when you pick one up on say the rudder or turn fin. I even thought about changing the front sponson tip and sides bringing them down a crack to grab a little air. someone said one time "air is cheap". My only problem is that time is not and that is what I am at a lack of to get these Mods built into a Vegas. Sure I would like to see video.......It would let me know I am not crazy to think high 50 is possible. I think it is one of the great things about this hobby.......it hones our skills to build........or bull****. I have seen both done to the extreeme. dang I could have cut off a cowl scoop in the time it took to type this. Party on Garth.

RE: tuned pipe for O.S. 46VX-M ?
I have run the O.S. 46 quite a bit over the years...I believe the first time was in the early 80's. the rod is the weak part....I run a x450 2 blade with a bit of cup and it really spins some RPM. I don't know that I would attribute the rod to the RPM...but I am sure it gives opportunity. the cooper pipe is quiet and seemed to be a great match to the engine...easy to tune.

RE: OcturaM435Y ON Vegas??????
I have used the M435 almost exclusively, set very shallow (1/2 inch bottom of boat to mid or bottom of strut) it will run very fast.....but be careful there is low chance of recovery if you spin-out. Sam's stock boat has not been passed yet and Sean puts together the fastest stock and mod boats I have seen using the 2 blade.....his Mod boat screams. Kelly

RE: RTR ONLY RACE
Can we sharpen the turn fin or rudder? and do we allow the slotting of the strut? I am inclined to say yes to sharpen but no to the slot. If someone has cut a slot we perhaps suggest a minimum depth to match? kinda picky I know but "Box Stock" has appeal. Kelly I will tell ryan to order 20 boats so I can hand pick one.

The RTR racing was like that all weekend. everyone close on the starts and running strong and straight. That faint rooster in the back ground is the last control point of my boat. she was Mach 2 and Bank Bound. Thats OK I have some new Mod ideas.

It was really great to see Kip Woods win the Grudge trophy. He has stuck by his Pro Boat and has it running very well. The Mod RTR class has turned into a VERY competative class. I have some great idea for my next Mod boat. I stripped all of the parts out of the white boat and gave it to some kid's in the stands...not a lot left. Kelly
